Review of PizzaExpress

A bit too noisy for my liking 3*

A very large pizza express with a bar area and a large area which can be curtained off for private functions. Food and wine menu contain the usual wide fair priced range. The service experienced was very good however due to the size of the large marble floored restaurant it can be very noisy at peak hours. This isn't helped by seemingly being a favourite of West Hampstead families and is often frequented by parents and children.

The Darkness Curry House Apparently 3*

Apparently its the place where the Darkness have their curries when they arent touring the world but dont let this put you off the place. It's a nice little curry house and its reasonably priced. Of course this Darkness advertising helps pull in the crowds on the weekend so if you do go at the last minute make sure its a weekday night. Other wise this is a nice little place to go especially considering its on Holloway Road.

Review of Holloway Off Licence

20 May 07, 11:47

Average offlicence 3*

Another average offlicence, the Holloway Offlicence has everything you'd expect from a North London shop. Providing beer at decent prices and a nice selection of chocolate, it has everything you could expect from an offlicence. That's the best you can say really.

Review of Cats Cafe Des Artistes

Thai Restaurant in Stroud Green 3*

Cats is a Thai restaurant where the food is really good. I have a few reservations with the restaurant though. I don't think the decor really suits the restaurant with old wooden furniture. I also think its a little bit cramped inside as well. The service is friendly but a little slow but the price of the meal was good value. If you like Thai food then maybe go and try it out.

Review of Pasta Brown

16 May 07, 17:14

Delicious, albeit slow due to demand. 4*

An Italian Restaurant offering a wide range of pizzas and pastas plus a variety of other Italian dishes. The restaurant is fairly small with a few tables available outside. As it is in the theatre district it is always busy and the service does suffer somewhat for this. If you do manage to catch a waitresses eye however the food is more than worth the wait with the Italian meatball burger highly recommended. This also comes with some of the best seasoned potatoes you'll ever taste!

Review of The Forum

Good Reliable Music Venue 3*

Big Music Venue that attacts a lot of big bands, mostly indie/rock bands. Its a nice venue but the drink prices are poor. £3 for a can of carling! Everytime I have gone, the last time being Dirty Pretty Things, it was good. Another advantage of the forum is its location. It's a minute away from Kentish Town Tube and if you want more bands then you can jump on the bus to Camden which is only 5 minutes away.

Review of The Angel

15 May 07, 15:37

A grimy, horrible Wetherspoons 1*

As far as pubs go, I confess I'm not a big fan of Wetherspoons as a chain. Often soulless, rough, grimey dumps, these pubs are a prime example of what goes wrong when chains take over. This prejudice has suited me well over the years, and it takes something extra rare for me to change my mind about this chain. The Angel didn't come close. Your usual dump, this pub reminds me of everything which is wrong with this chain. Yellow, overly crowded, cold, and excedingly boring, The Angel is everything you would expect from these people. Avoid like the plague.

Woefully Bad Pub in Archway 1*

Another dive of a pub on Holloway Road near Archway Tube. The only good thing about this pub I got recommended the pub by a friend of a friend. As soon as I walked in, I wanted to walk out. It's a dive, with shabby interior, a shabby pool table and a lot of old men escaping from their wifes. The drinks are quite cheap and if you like you greyhound and horse racing you will have a great time otherwise don't venture near it. If you like Irish pubs go to the Fullback in Finsbury Park or the Boston Arms in Tufnell Park.

Review of Bootys

11 May 07, 18:38

2nd best pub on Narrow Street 3*

Bootys is brilliant. A fun quiz machine, good beer, nice river view, acceptable food. It is a good little hovel to pop into for a drink or two. Yet it suffers from an inferiority. It resides literally two minutes down the road from the vastly superior Grapes. Whilst both pubs are friendly, the Grapes is just so much more laid back and traditional than Bootys, the competition is a quickly decided one. Bootys is a good pub, let's not forget that. It's a place I love to visit. Unfortunately though, the Grapes is much better, and has even taken the better bar staff too. Good pub, but only the 2nd best on it's street.

A Pub Barely Bigger Than A Pint Glass 3*

A very small little pub in highgate, probably the smallest I've actually been to in London. The service is good but its a small bar so I would expect that. Otherwise there isnt many positives or negatives about this pub. But I would only go to this place on the way to another pub like the Flask around the corner.
