Good in the week, horrid at the weekend 
During the week, when it's quiet enough to get a seat, this place can be a lot of fun. The space itself is interesting and I like the dark cavernous feel of it. At the weekends it's full of sleazy bankers trying to touch your arse while you wait at the bar. To be avoided.

I'm retraining as a cobbler 
How can it be so expensive just to put a new tip on a heel? I have honestly spent a long time thinking about retraining as a cobbler... £7 to stick a tip on? I ask you. Anyway, the unimaginatively names "Shoe Repairs" shop on the Brompton Rd do a good job and are obviously doing a brisk trade. The shop front is very small so you have to look for it (opposite Tesco Express). They also do the usual key cutting, dog tag engraving etc etc....

Paper, scissors.. 
Good range of invitations and stationary. The pre-printed stuff is mostly tasteful and sweet and they do tissue lined envelopes which I adore. They have a service for personalised stationary/printing also , but when I looked into this for correspondence cards recently I found them to be more expensive than Smythson, which I was surprised about.
