Review of Xscape Centre

The X Factor
This is one of the best things about MK - as you can see by the way so many people from as far afield as Bedford have reviewed it, it's clearly one of the best things about this region. Massive multiplex cinema, ski slope, airkix, some great restaurants (check the deals at La Tasca - all you can eat on tapas for a tenner) and of course, the climbing wall, music shop, Virgin Active, Oceana... the list goes on. No visit to MK is complete without venturing within it's lofty heights.

Review of The Moon Under Water

Under Performing
It's a little disappointing in here. The bar's nicely designed and they could make more of it, but instead it's a bit tatty and feels a bit unclean when you walk in. Food is cheap - my Dad had a curry and he was really pleased with it. And you cant complain about the drinks prices. They are very reasonable. If your expectations are low you'll be pleasantly surprised. I didnt stay too long though.

Nice place for a midweek drink
We went here on a Wednesday for a quick drink after work cos it's on the outside of the XScape building so it's perfect for a pint before you go to the cinema. Decor is sumptuous - lots of black leather and it feels really posh and new. The bar staff were chatty and relaxed and the atmosphere was chilled and sophisticated. Not sure what it's like at the weekend though,

Review of Lloyds No. 1 Bar

Number One. Definitely.
This is the best place to go out in the Theatre District, I reckon. It's got a slightly older, cooler crowd and the music's great. Usually everyone is queueing at the bar so it can take ages to get served but you wont be complaining cos the drinks are pretty reasonable, they do good cocktails and we always have a good night when we go there. Definitely recommended.

Review of Airkix Indoor Skydiving

You Can Fly! Literally.
I think it was Westlife who dreamed of Flying Without Wings and now the dream is reality at Airkix. The secret? A massive fan which blows up the tower so you "fly". It's hard not to imagine the Superman theme in your head, the only difference being they refused to let me do it in blue tights. You only get about 90 seconds at a time in the tunnel which doesnt sound much but when you do it you realise your body would just die if you stayed in there much longer, the forces involved are immense. The instructors are very helpful and costumes are provided with webbed limbs. Price isnt cheap but as a treat it's hard to beat. Worth checking before hand if you are obese as the hatch is quite small.

Review of Nando's
18 Apr 08, 12:56
Peri Good
Peri peri is what Nando's is known for and this branch doesnt disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the message is consistent - you're in for a spicy time! And the food's amazing. A word of warning - the extra hot peri peri sauce is not for the faint hearted! Build up slowly because even Medium strength packs a punch. So get down and check out the hot chicks! Recommended.

Review of Nando's Chickenland

Clucking Marvellous
Nandos is half way between fast food and a restaurant in that exciting grey area where you get your food really quick but it's on a plate and you get a knife and fork.
It's all about the chicken and the peri peri - a kind of Spanish spice (pronounced piri piri) which comes in several strengths from the mild Lemon flavour to the extra hot which is actually pretty deadly and makes me feel short of breath.
Almost everything on the menu is chicken, but it's good to be focussed, the staff are divided between the grillers and service staff and they are all very helpful. And the portion size is enough to keep everyone satisfied.
Overall - highly recommended - the kind of place you have to try once in your life!

Review of Oceana

Cheesy. Really Really Cheesy.
The beauty of this place is that every room is totally different:
Credible dance and rnb in the Ice House.
Indie in the Australian Rom
And a 'Parisien Boudour' where they dont understand French or sell champagne.
But it's best known for the New York Disco, If you like dancing round your handbag to Djs who love the sound of their own voices surrounded by hen parties and men in ben sherman shirts this is a great place to go. Not to everyone's taste but actually if you wanna let your hair down and just enjoy it for what it is, you can have a good night here.
Even the door staff are friendly. I was delighted to be asked for ID. For the first time since I turned 30,

Review of Milton Keynes Theatre

Luvvie Place
Everything I've seen here has been outstanding - we're so lucky to have such a nice theatre on our doorstep and we often get west end shows trying out before they go to London. Recently Zorro and Never Forget (the Take That musical) were excellent. I heard good things about Equus (my friend saw Lily Allen's brother's "Alfie Junior" during this show). And the annual panto is brilliant family fun. Top marks for MK Theatre!
