Bad News For Fat Fighters
This is a very handy takeaway if you're going to Tokyo Project cos it's just on the corner and it's amazing. The best thing about it is the deal where it's the same price for any pizza, any size which makes you logically order the biggest pizza they do with everything on it. This is a large part of the reason I'm now on a diet. Great quality, quite pricey (unless you avail yourself of the offers) but well above the average pizza takeaway standard.

You need to be drunk
Assuming you're drunk and staggering down yorkshire street after a heavy session this place will be brilliant. For anyone sober, it's going to be a bit of a shock as you pick your way through bits of kebab on the floor and try to decide what on the menu is least likely to give you food poisoning. I think I've made my point.

Best Curry In Oldham
I must have eaten here a dozen times and it's never disappointed me. Lovely cosy little booths to eat in, it's posh without being unwelcoming and the staff are polite and professional at all times. And the best thing is the food - absolutely awesome.

Limited choice but friendly staff
I would always prefer to go to somewhere like Phones 4 U when buying a mobile because with Orange shops they only sell their own network so you cant choose the cheapest or best tarrif for your requirements. For what it is, though, this is a perfectly adequate store and the staff are friendly and well informed.

Basic travel agents
There's nothing special about this travel agents. Small and friendly with competent staff and a good selection of brochires however the Co-Op Travel Supermarket a few doors down is much bigger with a far larger selection and more staff so I'd recommend you go there instead.

Lovely family restaurant
This is genuinely a family business. Not part of a chain and specialising in really nice, wholesome English food. You can come here for Sunday lunch and it's like you're at home. The steak's lovely too and they do a great theatre menu at a good price. Definitely recommended.

Great for karaoke
Lovely pub and they used to have a great karaoke night here during the week. if it's still going I'd say definitely check it out. The interior is traditional but clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Recommended.

Last Orders. How Ironic.
Yes, this is the last place you'd want to order at. It's nasty, old, smelly and full of weirdos. So no I dont think I'll be going there again.

Great Traditional Inn
If you're looking for somewhere nice and traditional for a quiet drink you cant get much better than this place. Lovely, friendly, welcoming and cheap - look out for the guest beers and some traditional english ales. And the locals are always happy to chat and pass the time of day with you.

Review of Bar Cuba Cuba

Nothing Cuban About It
I have no idea why it's called Cuba Cuba because it's got no South American theme at all. Just a nice but slightly messy place to include in your Yorkshire Street pub crawl. Look out for good deals on cocktails during happy hour and avoid the toilets - they are not good.

great for food
This place does the most amazing food and it's really cheap too. Steaks are well cooked and the interior is really nice. Downstairs is also nice, they have another little bar area. It has a lovely family feel - like you're getting home cooked food. Yum!

Too Much Of An Effort
It's a real effort to go to this pub because it's on the top bit opposite nat west and you have to climb a load of stairs. So I usually dont bother. Because once you get up there it's just a pub. I guess you get a good view from there but really I wouldnt waste the energy - just walk down to the Litten Tree or Walkabout instead.

Class In Chavs Clothing
This is trying really hard to be something it's not. Classy. As soon as you walk in you'll realise this! But for what it is, there's nothing wrong with it. You will feel at home and everyone's friendly. Drinks are usually on offer and the music's funky and modern, even if the DJs are usually middle aged and fat!

Pub Crawl Essential
If you're on a pub crawl of Oldham (which is a great way to spend an evening - there are so many pubs in such a short space... but not much else!) this is an essential stop. Just a normal traditional pub but it's nice inside, staff are friendly and the beer is really cheap - good honest, northern prices.

Local Pub For Local People
You wont feel welcome here unless you are a local. When I walked in, it all went quiet and everyone stared at me. So I quickly left. It's small and full of old men dribbling into their pints. The smell of BO is quite strong. I wouldnt even recommend going here to use the toilet because they wont make you feel welcome.

Like Bilbo's Pub
This is the smallest pub I have ever seen! It's on the corner of Union Street and Yorkshire Street and it's literally a kiosk! You walk in the door and you're at the bar. It's like one of those really small newsagents. But the staff are lovely and it's always busy so well worth popping in. But breathe in!

Perfect warmup for Livingstones
This place has benefited massively from Oldham's biggest club opening next door! Everyone comes here before moving on to the club and it draws you in as you walk past cos there always seems to be a cute girl dancing in the window! Drinks are cheaper than the club but normally people only stay for a couple. Interior is minimal and there's a lot of dark colours but it's not too tatty,

Cocktails And Dreams?
They try to position themselves as a cocktail bar but actually people just go there cos it's cheap. Not particularly nice inside - quite dark actually and not particularly welcoming. They would do well to lighten it up and try and attract a slightly classier clientelle. However if you're on a pub crawl of Yorkshire Street you cant miss this one out and it's an essential part of any hen night!

Review of The Litten Tree

Trying to be classy
The last time I went they were trying to reinvent themselves as a slightly more upmarket and older venue to deter some of the drunk kids that were coming in, so they were steering away from the bassline and rnb and playing more soul and party tunes.. not sure if it's worked but since their refurb a few years ago it's been a much nicer place to go. The food's lovely too - especially the massive steaks which are amazingly cheap!

Review of Walkabout Inn

Crazy Madness
This is the wildest walkabout I have been to - they just know how to party without a doubt. Wooden floor, minimum furniture and lots of people just having a good time. It doesnt claim to be anything it's not and you can just drink and party all night. Daytime, they do the usual aussie tucker - kangaroo burgers, etc, but the sofas arent very comfortable because everyone's been jumping on them and destroying them the night before!

Best Club In Oldham
You cant go wrong with Tokyo's - fair play to Aaron and the team for making this what it is - with well defined nights like Clint Boon's Inspiral Clubnight and regular Hed Kandi events it's credible but at the same time you feel welcome and everyone's very friendly. Door staff are lovely and everyone behind the bar's great too. If you live in Oldham you'll know it but if you're visiting give it a try!

Review of Bar Budda

Too Nice For Oldham?
Everyone was saying when this place opened that it was 'too nice' for Oldham - it's the kind of place you'd find in the centre of manchester full of trendies but it's become popular with a slightly classier clientelle than you'd get across the road in the litten tree,.. the decor is authentically buddhist / eastern influenced with little plasma screens showing fashion tv all over the place and there's a giant statue of buddha at the bottom of the stairs. I'm not sure if Buddhists would approve of this but it really looks impressive. Upstairs is the best because there's lots of places to sit down and have a chat.

Handy Town Centre Haunt
Situated just down the hill from the entrance to the spindles, this is a popular place with shoppers and workers at lunchtime. Cheap, friendly and decor-wise similar to a yates's. You wont be surprised when you go inside because it's just a normal bar but there's nothing wrong with it, and there's usually somewhere to sit down upstairs unless it's Saturday afternoon!

Rough as anything
Dont go here unless you have a deathwish. It's possibly the roughest pub I have ever been to. It has a reputation for trouble and it's well deserved.
On the plus side, the beer is cheap and the staff are very friendly and there's a nice community spirit - they also have some good live music from time to time which you can enjoy while you avoid being glassed in the face,

Review of Cafe Lahore
19 Apr 08, 12:27
Unusual Curry Cafe
The difference with Cafe Lahore is they have reinvented indian food. The concept is that they are bringing the traditional indian way of cooking curry on the street to the UK so you choose your meat from a selection of marinated skewers then select a sauce and they cook it in front of you in the wok then put it in a massive naan bread for you to enjoy. The beauty of this is you can pop in for a quick lunch and it's so tasty!! Speedy and modern but you still feel like you've been somewhere nice.

Review of Livingstones

Jungle Style
The decor of this club is reminiscent of the video for Aqua's Doctor Jones - think jungle, aztec, 1920's hats and long shorts... Definitely well designed and still looks reasonably 'new' inside however the music may not be to everyone's taste... it was quite specialist at times when it first opened but has become more commercial recently, especially on Saturday nights however it's a bit nicer than many of the places on Yorkshire Street.
