Review of Pizza Hut

Buffet Rocks! 3*

As with most Pizza Huts the buffet at lunchtime is legendary! All you can eat for less than a fiver - can't be a bad thing.

A word of warning, though, once when I went it was school half term, the queue went all the way up the mall in the centre MK and there was a child vomiting outside which put me off my pizza. And it took over ten minutes to clean it up. by which time it had been walked in.

Watch out for queues and beware the pizzas that have been left on the buffet for an hour or so because the cheese goes hard.

Overall though, I would.

Review of Las Iguanas

Latin Flavour! 5*

This is my favourite restaurant in MK. The food is amazing - it's cooked with authentic South American spices. The atmosphere's just like being on holiday with latin music and really nicely decorated. The cocktails are amazing - check out Caiprinha made with Cacaca rum and fresh limes muddled with sugar and ice... and foodwise, Xinxim chicken is a must-try - amazing creamy peanutty chicken in a sauce with rice and plantain (sweet potaoey things - never had them before!). So whether you're after a happy hour cocktail (and they're half price all evening on a Sunday - yay) or some amazing and unusual food - this is my top recommendation in MK! I would live there if I was allowed... well I almost do cos I live right opposite. :)

Review of Starbucks

Full of Beans! 3*

If you like coffee Starbucks is the 'original' gourmet coffee house. Personally, I hate coffee. But the reason I go there is they do the most amazing milkshakes and hot chocolate and the atmosphere is really chilled with nice leather sofas and free newspapers aplenty. So dont dismiss it if you dont like coffee - that's what I reckon.

Review of Boots The Chemists

Puss In... 3*

I go here every day to get a sandwich for lunch - the meal deal is such a good idea and as I'm on a bit of a health kick at the moment I'm loving the Bugsy sandwich with is basically masses of shredded carrot and houmous. So yummy and so healthy too - you have to try it. Also, I recently had a really bad spot on my chin and the lady in Boots was very helpful and gave me a cover up stick which she assured me wasn't actually makeup so it's perfectly acceptable for men to wear it. So that's ok. Helpful staff, good selection of stuff and great for lunches - it's Boots all the way!

Review of All Bar One

Nice place, bad service 2*

This is the centre of MK's famous '6pm culture' - it's the place to be seen after work and has a great selection of beers from around the world (Staropramen from Czech being my favourite) and some really nice wine (Pinot Grigo all the way). But it's not all good - the prices are excessive (OK maybe necessary to keep out the riff raff but it does vex me a bit), it takes ages to be served at the bar, even when its quiet!! And the table service is rubbish - once, we ordered houmous and pitta bread and had to ask 3 times before it didnt arrive and we were told they'd run out of houmous, Which was disappointing. But the baked camembert is to die for!!

Review of McDonald's Restaurant

McBusy but Supersize Efficiency 3*

Always full of kids as you'd expect as it's in the middle of the shopping centre but the staff are professional and efficient and the service is always quick. They also make a real effort to keep the tables clear and they seem to mop the floor obsessively. In fact I think they must have a full time 'mopsketeer'. Worthy of Mayor McCheese's Seal of Approval.

Review of Milton Keynes Railway Station

17 Apr 08, 23:55

Is This The Age Of The Train? 4*

One of the best things about MK is the fast rail link to Euston - you can be in London in 40 minutes and the trains have always been punctual if a little crowded in my experience. It needs a bit of modernising which they're working on but it does the job and the staff seem friendly. The only negative us the queues at the ticket machines which made me miss my train once because there was an idiot in front of me who couldnt operate the simple touchscreen interface. No idea why not - he had the usual number of fingers, opposable thumbs and no obvious vision issues. Just a muppet I guess.

Review of Zavvi

18 Apr 08, 00:03

Now it's called Zavvi 4*

Inexplicably they changed the name to Zavvi. What does that mean? Nothing. It's a ridiculous name. Luckily nothing else has changed. And I mean nothing. Even some of the Virgin Megastore signs havent changed!! They have a great selection of not just music but DVDs, Blu Ray discs (often on offer - check out the 3 for £30 deal they sometimes do), and games... I bought my PS3 there cos they did the best package deal and gave me good advice and a student discount! How cool is that?

PS I'm not a student

Review of Tate Modern

18 Apr 08, 00:10

Art. Or is it? 5*

This is an art gallery. Or on the other hand, it's just a load of pretentious twaddle. Depends on your perspective. But the debate's fun. Seriously, works of art here include:

- A urinal - A glass of water - A map of the london underground with all the station names wrong - Several screenprinted rectangles in different colours - An unmade bed - Half a cow (dead)

Oh and they also have these cool slides that you can go on if you buy your ticket a few days before - er, as if that's going to happen.

So if you dont get to have a go on the slides, you may be less receptive to the glass of water and the urinal. Fortunately they are in different parts of the gallery otheriwise I can foresee how accidents could happen.

The gallery shop's excellent btw - some really good prints and I bought a glass which tells you how many gulps, sips or swallows you have left - it's art, darling.

Oh and the best thing? It's free to get in.

Totally.

Review of Big Ben

18 Apr 08, 00:13

Big Clock 3*

Seriously, why would you need to read a review of Big Ben?

OK, the first thing you learn is that the bell is called Big Ben and not the clock.

Once you get over the excitement of this it is actually really cool to see it - it looks just like on the telly, and you feel like you're really in London. Which you are.

The best view of it is coming over tower bridge with the thames in the foreground.

I would say it's definitely my favourite Clock Of The World. And the chimes have a satisfyingly rich tone. Quite loud too if you're stood underneath and it's chime time.
