Review of Caravela Restaurant

A taste of the exotic in Crawley's High Street
This could well be the best restaurant in Crawley. If you miss the kind of attentive service from some of the big chain restaurants and food that tastes truly unique and you simply won't find anywhere else, Caravela is for you. It's kind of hidden on the high street, between Si and The George Hotel behind what looks like a big wooden barn door... at night, the huge door opens and a kind of Southern European Veranda appears with decking, exotic plants, candlelit tables... it's something that really stands out on the high street! The guy that owns Caravela is a true character. As soon as you walk in, he greets you like a long lost friend and his knowledge of the dishes on offer is incredible. He precisely tells you how your meal is cook and where the ingredients are from .... some reading this might find think it's a bit freaky - but when you see him in full flow - you can't help but smile. It's technically a Portguese restaurant but has inspiration from all around the Mediterranean too. I'd go for the Cataplanas - it's fish, meat of seafood in a copper clamshell pan, with peppers, onions, garlic and potatoes, like a massive stew - a traditional portuguese dish.... it's very filling and served in a totally unique way. I'm not just saying it - but you eat in this place and truly believe your on a veranda in Portugal with the incredible atmosphere (and thanks to the outdoor heatlamps).

Review of The Golden Griddle

this place was a legend
Pepe's Golden Griddle is sadly no more. Growing up in Crawley, it was the place for all teenagers to hang out for a greasy burger and chips and play pacman. It's not been there for years, maybe even 20 years.... not sure why it's on here - but couldn't resist remembering those good old days.

Review of Limes Bistro

Out of the way - but worth it!
Limes Bistro has been in Charlwood since I can remember. It's a great restaurant out of the hustle and bustle of town and serves beautiful food with service that's excellent. Former air stewardess Pat Wickens set up The Limes Bistro 30 years ago after she transformed a 300-year-old cottage in Charlwood into the restaurant. Although a little pricier than in town places, it's worth a night out.

Review of Dining Room

Celebrity in Reigate
The Dining Room. Simply amazing. It's owned by Tony Tobin, who's the head chef too - he's the chap off various TV cooking programmes. The service is incredible, the food is simply amazing - great for treating the other half or a quiet night out with friends. Well worth booking a table!

Great Chinese!
This is a large and fantastic restaurant - it has a big first floor restaurant with a really good atmosphere. There are some different chinese dishes from other Chinese restaurants which really makes a big difference. Staff are friendly and very helpful

Review of Gatwick Manor

Good food near Gatwick
The Gatwick Manor is a great place for some really good food. It's just off the A23 by Gatwick and has a massive Travel Lodge behind it, but in the restaurant you get a really good choice of food with daily specials - just watch out if it's busy - can take a while for food to arrive.

The Chefs of the Future!
Le Cordon Vert is the restaurant in Crawley College with Chefs and staff that are learning at the college. You can get an amazing meal at an amazing price! As the up and coming chefs of the future, they try new things and every time I've eaten there - it's been amazing!

Contemporary Indian Cuisine
You might not expect to find high quality restaurants on parades of shops - but Zari's could well blow you away. It's an awesome place to eat, really trendy and contemporary with fantastic food.

Review of Caravela Restaurant

Totally new for Crawley
This restaurant is just so nice. The guy that owns and runs it could be the most friendly restauranteur ever! The food is Portuguese with an Eastern flair. Dishes you won't find anywhere in Crawley. The staff are really attentive and it has a decked area - kinda outside - it's so different!
