Review of Bithells Boats
09 Jun 08, 21:03
wow, what a night!
Went on the Mark Twain for a works night out. I have to say it was one of the better nights out I have had in a long while. Despite a thunder storm and rain, we could see the river side clearly as the top deck was glass. The buffet was very classy with one of the most gorgeous, sickliest puddings I have had in ages. We had a Casina Night going on, all for play money, but it was very entertaining and such a laugh. The river cruise itself was enjoyable, and how much did we envy the people who live in some of those river side properties! You can go on a river cruise during the day, or like us, hire one for an evening event. OK, once you are aboard you can't disembark until the end of the cruise, but hey, why would you want to.

Review of La Tasca
09 Jun 08, 20:54
new experience
I had never visited a Spanish Tapas restaurant until my trip to La Tasca in Chester. Luckily I was hungry as you get to choose from so many dishes and the table was full. The waitress was very patient and explained what all the dishes were and which were suitable for me as I am vegetarian. You didn't feel that they were trying to shove you out of the door either, we were able to enjoy our food at a leisurely pace. Very enjoyable.

Review of Golden Grove Inn

yummy food
It was a little bit difficult to find but once you arrive, the outside has the WOW factor if you like your history like me. The menu choice was very good including a help yourself carvery. The inside was warm and inviting and the service was very good and quick. I would certainly go there again and my parents have been on my recommendation.

Review of Andrew Laurence Hair Studio

Curl up and dye.......
I hate going to the hairdressers more than going to the dentist BUT I think I have found a hairdresser that doesn't scare me at long last. The girls were all very welcoming and Rachel, who had the big job of trying to make my hair look half way decent again, was chatty and friendly but not in a 'where are you going on your holidays this year' way. The decor is very me as I love art deco. The mirrors and the chairs were all art deco style and the place was spotless. Besides tea and coffee on offer, there was a water machine with really chilled water. Yes, I am easily pleased! The prices were very reasonable as my last re-style and colour cost the best part of £100 and this was about half that.

Review of Clinton Cards
18 Apr 08, 15:27
Lovely but expensive
There are Clinton's all over the country and they all look pretty much the same. It IS my card shop of choice as there is a wide variety of cards including a budget range BUT the cards I like to buy are expensive if you buy more than one. A recent visit for a couple of birthday cards and some special occasion cards cost me almost £25. The member of staff I asked to help me find a particular type of card just vaguely gestered in the general direction I needed to go.

Review of Sleepy Panda Restaurant
10 Apr 08, 21:14
Yummy Yummy Chinese Food
The Sleepy Panda is my all time favourite Chinese restaurant, and it also does take away food too. It looks clean and modern from the outside and just as good inside. There is a small area to sit and wait until your table is ready, which is handy for the bar! I am vegetarian but I feel there is a good choice on offer and particularly enjoy the Sweet and Sour Bean Curd after some delicious Vegetarian Spring Rolls. The puddings are not that brilliant but you are usually full from the rest of your meal to even want one. I do sometimes feel that once you have eaten, they can't wait to get rid of you from your table, so then is the time to have one more drink! I have been to alot, and I mean ALOT, of Chinese Restaurants over the years but this is still my favourite AND it has a great name!

Review of Chester Zoo
10 Apr 08, 21:02
The best Zoo I have ever visited
I have been to Chester Zoo several times and have never been disappointed. It is a bit on the expensive side if you are going on a Family visit but Family passes are available and you can spend the whole day there. Monkey Island is very entertaining and the Bat Cave is scary for people like me who are afraid they will fly at you, but they never do, so be brave and go into the darkness. Who can get tired of watching elephants, I know I can't, especially the baby ones. Make sure you know when it is feeding time for the penguins as they put on a real show. You can take the mono-rail around the zoo too but there are plenty of places to stop and rest as you walk around the zoo. The gardens are worth a visit in their own right too.

Review of Sainsburys
10 Apr 08, 20:49
Sainsburys Plas Coch, Wrexham
Now, call me a supermarket snob, but I only really enjoy supermarket shopping in Sainsburys. They sell virtually everything you need including TVs, computers and clothes. They put on extra staff at the check outs when queues start to form and always offer to help pack your bags, even though I prefer to pack my own. If, like me, there is always something you have forgotten once you are going through the check out, they will send someone to get what you want. The only down side for me is that they close at 10pm although, if they were 24 hours, I would be there at midnight most nights.

Review of Greens & Things / Farmhouse Flowers
10 Apr 08, 20:23
Greens & Things 52 Chester Road, Gresford
I love this flower shop! They do the most wonderful button holes for weddings, and not just the usual carnation with a bit of foil around it! The flowers I have had delivered from there have always been fresh, beautiful and arranged in a stunning way. If I am sending flowers locally, I always use this florist as I know I can rely on good service and a great product.

Review of Club Cars Taxis
10 Apr 08, 20:18
Club Cars Mold road, Gwersyllt
I have used this taxi service for many years and on the whole find them efficient and friendly. As I do use them so often, there has been the occasional late arrival BUT never caused me any problems as a result. If you have a train to catch or an appointment, they make a note of that and always arrive in plenty of time. The drivers are helpful and friendly, in particular Hayley, who always watches me go inside my house before driving off. It is very rare that I use any other company as I know I can depend on Club Cars.
