Review of Ben Crouchs Tavern
15 Apr 08, 13:31
Halloween all year round
Just off Oxford Street you can find yourself in an oak clad pub, full of gothic decor and eerieness, drinking a "wednesday" or a "gomez" shot (served in a test tube ofcourse) and being truly freaked out by the footsteps and ghoulish cackle approaching when you go to the toilet...yes you have to try Ben Crouch, even if it is just for the W.C experience.
This used to be my local after work, all made so, because of the extremely friendly staff and awesome selection of music always playing. The beer prices are pretty standard (£3ish per pint), and the food is decent (although they just brought in a new menu which is slightly more expensive i believe).
Although gothic in theme, the pub always draws a real variety of people and is always busy in the evenings. There are tables outside for the smokers and the summer months too, which are in an alley rather than being on the road - a bonus in central!

Review of T Bird
10 Apr 08, 16:44
eclectic interior!
I have been to the T Bird numerous times in the past couple of month's, due to 1) it being stumbling distance from my house and 2) because you really never know what you're going to get (except very reasonably priced guinness)
The crowds are always different - if you catch it on an arsenal game then it'll be full of supporters, if you catch it on a live music night it will be a more alternative crowd.
The furniture does look like it's all been found outside the fronts of peoples houses, but that coupled with a free jukebox on a Monday, a live music night on a Thursday and whatever else they feel like putting on always makes the T Bird a fun evening out.

Review of The Pop Boutique

Decent second hand clothes
I love second hand clothes, but the fact that anything vaguely "vintage" has now become fashionable, means that shops are trying to charge the earth for anyones yellowing old shirt. This is not the case with POP. Although it is hit and miss whether you will find something you really like there, when you do see something, it tends to be a real "find". I've picked up the most amazing shoes (£15), tops (£8), belts (£10) and scarves (£3) in this place and always been well and truly helped out by the staff. Definately head down there if, like me, you're a bit skint most of the time - and save yourself from the supposed vintage section of Topshop!!

Review of The Woodbine

good sunday pub!
Headed down to the Woodbine on my flatmates recommendation. Really cool little pub with old wooden tables, church like pews, and graffiti art on the wall above the bar.
Good selection of beers and wines, and (for those of you who for some reason don't like smoking whilst standing by the road) a heated smoking area out the back! They also do food but I'm yet to sample the goods...
It's been pretty busy both times I've been in there but I've still got a table - Go down on a Monday night for the free jukebox which has loads of classics on!

Review of Iznik Restaurant

Amazing Turkish Food!
Went to Iznik with around 10 people for a friends birthday, and we were all impressed. The service was excellent, and the food was really flavoursome, all added to by the candlelit surroundings and a real atmosphere. It's 5 mins from the tube and easy to find, but I'd recommend booking as it gets very busy and isn't very big!
