Review of Fredericks

02 May 07, 22:51

Elegant and traditional restaurant 4*

Fredrick's is the most expensive and luxurious restaurant in Angel. It is famous throughout north London as a fantastic place to go for a real treat. The food is very traditional and delicious, and the high prices match the elegance and quality of the restaurant. Not the sort of place you pop into on a Friday night after work! The 2 function rooms are perfect for big occasions - we hired one out for my Mum's 60th Birthday and had a fantastic time. Note that Fredrick's is traditional rather than fashionable, probably appealing more to those celebrating a 60th than a 21st!

Review of Old Spitalfields Market

03 May 07, 13:45

Amazing indoor market 5*

I love Spitalfields. On the grounds of an old hospital, Spitalfields is a large indoor market selling everything from handmade clothes to pottery to art. Each stall is unique and, although expensive, definitely worth splashing out on. Have a break in the middle of your trip, and enjoy food from one of the reasonably priced stalls serving Chinese, Indian and other world food. Sunday is the best day to go, when all of the shops and stalls are open.

Review of Fresh and Wild

03 May 07, 20:33

Trendy organic food store 4*

Fresh and Wild is an organic supermarket, which is very popular among health conscious North Londoners. There is also a great selection of deli style food, and the smoothie bar is unique. The tables and chairs outside the front of Fresh and Wild make it a good place to go for a gossip and a health kick. There is a particularly vile smoothie that includes wheatgrass and various other superfoods that promises to make you healthy and fit....I can't stand the taste, but fall for the lure of health in a glass everytime.

Review of Quirinale

04 May 07, 20:44

Amazing Food no Pomp 5*

I went to Quirinale with my parents, the fact of the matter is I can't afford their prices but I wish I could. Quirnale is modern Italian underneath the streets of Westminster that not only serves incredibly good food, but also does it without the pomp of other top notch restaurants. I read somewhere that Westminster has bad restaurants because MPs are too busy talking to notice the food. That rule doesn't apply to this place.

Review of Sainsbury's

04 May 07, 23:14

A Well Designed Sainsburys? Never! 4*

I wouldn't normally review a Sainsburys but this one is particularly interesting. It was designed by Nicholas Grimshaw who also did the Eden Project in Cornwall. It's a really futuristic looking design, which is odd given the fact it is in less than futuristic Camden. At the back are a number of apartments that look over Camden Locks, not bad for a supermarket. Did I mention they sell food too?

Review of Gulshan

06 May 07, 21:09

Cheap curry 3*

Gulshaan is a cheap Indian restaurant. The decor is dull, and the atmosphere non-existant. The curry, though, is good. It's not amazing, but all the usuals are on the menu and it all tastes good. The best thing about Gulshaan is that it's very cheap.

Review of Frame Factory

08 May 07, 14:29

Large range of picture frames 3*

Frame Factory offers a massive range of different types of picture frames. The prices are reasonable, and the service efficient so overall Frame Factory is good value. However, on occasion the staff can be quite rude and unhelpful, which is always off putting.

Review of Foxtons

09 May 07, 13:00

Big chain estate agents 3*

Foxtons like to think that they are a very swanky and exclusive estate agents. It's true, they has some sort of a monopoly on property in areas of London, and so they can normally find the kind of property you are after. However, rumours of dirty tactics and too charming agents put off a lot of people.

Review of Garfunkel's Restaurant

10 May 07, 14:22

Hearty but average food 2*

Garfunkels is a chain of restaurants that has probably passed it's height of success. The decor is American style, with leather booths, and the food is pretty standard: big fry ups, burger and wilting salads. An ok place to eat, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it.

Review of Whistles

Beuatiful clothes 5*

I like to ogle the clothes in the windows of this shop. You see I could never afford to buy them, but they are gorgeous. Very up to date but also timeless and very classy.
