Review of Bombay Bicycle Club

Great stuff 4*

I had been hearing a lot of buzz about this little indian place just off hampstead high street so decided to go with a few mates, and I must say that none of us were disappointed. The service was a little slow, but not enough so to change my view of the restaurant. The food was great, and not just your standard 'lamb korma' and 'chicken curry', but they also have new specials every week, along with a great veggie selection for all you herbivores out there. As well as your standard 'lamb korma' and 'chicken curry' of course, but they've kindly changed the names so when you order you don't feel so boring... I recommend getting a few dishes in the middle, along with some rice and naan bread, as opposed to each having one dish, as some of them are a bit on the small side, and this way, everyone gets a bit of everything. The only downside is that it's a little overpriced, but no enough for me to refuse to go again. The clever sods...

Review of Eriki

A great 'after-movie' meal 4*

Many a time have I been wondering around swiss cottage, after having seen a movie, trying desperately to find a decent restaurant, (other than the likes of nandos and pizza hut), but have just given up and had the lemon and herb double chicken burger at the former fast-food chain. Then I found Eriki. Other than the fact that I still don't know how to pronounce the name, (is it Er-ee-ky or Er-i-kee --- the waiters don't even know...), I struggled to find much wrong with this place. The food was impressive. Although the menu wasn't very diverse, I was impressed with the standard of what they did offer. Service was fine, I wouldn't call it quick, but I certainly wasn't sitting there wondering where my food had got to... Also, the prices weren't too bad either. Overall, I'd definitely go again, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place to eat after having seen a movie. Oh, and have the ribs. Definitely have the ribs.

Review of Zo-Hair

Nice place with nice company 4*

This is pretty much the only hairdresser in Hampstead that charges less than £15 for a cut. The service is good, (the guys and gals there make good conversation, with few awkward silences) and the haircuts are also great. I've been going to this place since it opened up, and it never fails to do a great job. In the end, just a nice place really!

Review of PizzaExpress

Small portions 3*

For chain Pizza place, Pizza Express is actually a pretty nice place with decent food. Good menu, with a huge variety of pizzas, pastas and salads, however I struggled to find anything original here... Having said that, the food is pretty good, but the portion sizes by no means justify the prices. Overall, a nice place, but I'd much rather go to 'Bar Room Bar' just down the road, where the pizzas are half the price, doubly as big, and three times as good.

Review of Zuma

WOW 5*

Along with XO in Belsize Park, this is without doubt on of the best asian restaurants in London. For a business event, taking out clients etc, the private rooms are fantastic, with exquisite service and calm atmosphere. The food is unbelievably good, with decent sized portions, and the desserts are really something else... Pricey, yes, but definitely worth it. Check this place out!

Review of XO

Xtremly Outstanding 5*

XO is simply one of the best asian restaurants in London, and I've been to a fair few! Get loads of dishes, stick 'em in the middle and you wont be disappointed, I guarantee. Book a private room, and you have on of the best dining experiences of a lifetime, with some of best service I've ever seen. Not as acclaimed as some other asian restaurants like 'Hakasan', but for me, XO really takes the biscuit. A tad pricey, but you'll find that its so worth it. Good sized portions, and a lovely atmosphere. A perfect 'first date' restaurant!

Review of The Beyoglu

23 Jul 07, 12:38

Just a kebab place really... 3*

There are not many different ways to cook or present a kebab, so its hard for a kebab place to stand out above the rest. The Beyoglu is nice, but as I said, its just a standard kebab place. I'd probably recommend it, but don't expect exquisite cuisine and outstanding service because you'll be disappointed. Expect a nice kebab with some salad and OK service, and you'll be happy with what you get. Only downer is that they don't do chips. What's that about!

Music Books Galore 4*

If you're looking for music books, you can't go wrong here. Although it's a pretty small place, they manage to pack in most music books around. 'mazing really. They also do cheap accessories which, if your low on money, are just as good as the branded ones. Also, not a bad jamming space downstairs, with a few guitars and basses to play around with. Easily the best music book store I've ever been to, but if you can't find what your looking for, cheer up and cross the road and you have another music book store right in front of you.

Review of HMV

So many sales... 4*

I just have to ask, when is there NOT a sale in HMV? This store isn't necessarily the biggest, but I find it has everything you need, with a broad expanse of CDs and DVDs, not to mention accessories. Cheap and very cheerful if you ask me. Definitely worth a look, although be careful... With all the sales you may end up buying more than you bargained for...

Review of Everyman Hampstead

23 Jul 07, 12:17

A tad pricey but so worth it 5*

At about 12 quid per person, the Everyman is pricey, but Vue is only a couple of quid less, and I'd much rather spend that 2 or 3 pounds on comfort at the Everyman than on a bottle of water at Vue. The service is amazing, you just press a button on your table and a waiter comes round and brings you whatever you want. Also, there are no after-movie back pains, as all the seats are endlessly more comfortable than any seats at any other cinema. I can't think of a better place to watch a movie.
