Review of Leonardo Ristorante Italiano
16 Apr 08, 09:33
Loads of Italian restaurants in Hove... this is possibly the best
Leonardo's dishes up above average Italian food in a part of Brighton with more than it's fair share of Italian restaurants. The atmosphere is excellent, really fun and friendly (they have been known to have a clown in on a Sunday lunchtime, but don't let that put you off!!?) A bit of advice - the menu is extensive but stick to the pasta and pizzas, my brother had a steak and it was tough.

Review of Marrocco's Restaurant
11 Apr 08, 15:54
We all scream for icecream!
While doing extensive DIY on my flat we would visit Marrocco's for an icecream on a sunny afternoon when were totally knackered. It is fabulous, they have a big range of flavours and they produce it all themselves. It gets mega busy in the summer but the queue moves quickly and it's worth waiting.
I can only comment on Marrocco's icecream, as I have never eaten anything else there!?!

Review of Due South

Local and Organic
This restaurant is right on Brighton seafront under the arches. It is fairly small, so can get very busy. The food is excellent - local and organic, with lots of fresh seafood. It isn't an every day lunch/dinner place 'cos it's not cheap. But it's worth paying the extra when you want to treat somebody or celebrate something.

Review of Bartle Hall Country Hotel and Restaurant
11 Apr 08, 15:32
Fantastic wedding venue
I went here a couple of weekends ago for a friends wedding and had a fantastic weekend. The staff were brilliant, very attentive but not in your face. The house is gorgeous and the grounds are very well kept. The food was delicious, especially considering how many people they were catering for. Some wedding venues can feel a bit like a sausage factory, churning another wedding out every day... but Bartle Hall didn't feel like that at. Also, an important one for guests - the bar was cheap! I can't comment on how much the day cost but I had a wonderful time and if you're getting married and looking for a venue I'd recommend having a look at Bartle Hall.

Review of Sussex Cricketer
11 Apr 08, 15:20
Next to Sussex County Cricket Club
This pub is crazy busy and has a great atmosphere when Sussex County Cricket Club are playing at home. The rest of the time it can be pretty quiet and lacking in atmosphere. If the weather is good it has a nice sunny garden. The food is okay, if a bit pub chain-ish.

Review of Oliver's Sandwich Bar

Cheese and pickle on brown
As someone who gets their lunch for Olvier's (still referred to as Tracey's for those of us who have worked round the corner for too long) very regularly am I too close to Kerry and Pam to write a review?! Not sure?
The sandwiches are a very good price (and you get a free bit of cheese with most orders!) They also do some hot food (good chips) and cakes.

Review of The Victoria
11 Apr 08, 10:42
The after work pub of choice....
... for one reason - location, location, location. The Victoria is the best pub we have found within walking distance of work (but that's not saying much!) No seriously, it is a pretty standard old man's pub. You can always get a seat. There are some interesting locals and a meat raffle on a Friday!!

Review of Pintxo People

Expensive but delicious
I had heard great things about Pintxo people so I was looking forward to going there. It is a tapas restaurant, deli and bar. If you're expecting a cheap and cheerful tapas bar this is not. The food is really delicious but fairly expensive. Our bill was big (£70 a head!) but that might have had something to do with the Mojito's we were all drinking!!? I would recommend it if you're celebrating and someone else is paying.

Review of Lifeboat Inn

Took my mum here on Mother's Day
I went to the Lifeboat with my Mum and Dad on Mother's Day. The location is fab, just by the beach and if the weather is nice there is a good garden. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. It's especially good if you like fresh fish.

Review of The Sanctuary Cafe

Fabulous carrot cake
Sanctuary has been around for over 14 years. It mainly serves veggy and vegan food (lots of salads and soups) but it isn't SO green it would scare meat eaters. They do a fab hot chocolate and lots of yummy cakes. Some of the staff look a little grungie - but I'm told it has four stars for hygiene :-)
I would recommend The Sanctuary for lunch when you've indulged too much over the weekend and need to feel a bit healthier... or for tea and cake when it's freezing outside and you've just been for a brisk walk on the seafront.
