Monkey see, Monkey do
The popular saying "monkey see, monkey do" definitely comes into action at Monkey World as these monkey's really do. Perfect for a family day out or a post clubbing session mashed up wander. Check it out.

Review of Sub Club
28 May 08, 13:33
Best club in Britain
Twenty plus years of keeping Glasgow clubbers happy - the sub club goes from strength to strength offering diverse line ups that range from the housest of house music to the obscurest of electronica.. whatever your taste if you like it deep down and dirty then the sub club is THE place for you.

Review of Miracles
21 May 08, 22:16
Celeb Spot - Premiership footballers
Miracles is one of the best cafes ever, I am prone to exageration but I am not exagerating now. It is just everything that cafes should be - with a buzzy atmosphere, fast polite service and crazy big portions. The menu is hugely varried. And you might spot an Arsenal or Chelsea player or even a member of girls aloud. Can't reccommend it enough. If you don't live in the area, get the tube to Cockfosters go for a walk round Trent Park and then have lunch in Miracles.

Review of Pleasure Beach
15 May 08, 11:48
THE BIG ONE!
I love Blackpool... it is one of my most favourite places in the world... why? Because it is pure cheesy tack and it does it so well. The Pleasure Beach is amazing. It has the best rollercoaster ever - THE BIG ONE! When you are whizzing down towards the sea, eyes streaming, it is one of the best feelings in the world!

Review of Duke Of York Cinema
15 May 08, 09:31
Duke of York
The Duke of York is a gorgeous independent cinema. One of it's most unique sessions is a parents and babies club on a Wednesday morning. Dozens of yummy mummies and noisy babies and noone gets cross if yours cries during a good bit! Get there early though it gets really busy.

Review of The Ivy
07 May 08, 15:30
Not expensive, just exclusive ..
If you can get in, it's worth it for the charm and the food. If you call out of the blue, you will be told there's a 3-6 month waiting list, so best get someone whom they know to get you in.
The decor is so so (the lead windows make it look like a beefeater from the outside), the floorplan is cramped and the toilets couldn't be less conveniently placed but hey ... it's The Ivy.
For starters, go for the pasta (starter size) and avoid the bang bang chicken at all cost, unless you have a craving for peanut butter! The fish is uniformly excellent; if there's a finer Dover Sole (apart from Sheekey's, of course) I've yet to try it. The game and poulty is very good, but I find the red meat pretty average.
If you're in a hurry, skip the starter and go for a dessert. The baked alaska is pure theatre, the iced berries are great and sticky toffee pudding is a treat. After some lobbying, the trial of the new chocolate pudding with mint choc chip has made itself onto the menu and is destined to become an Ivy classic!
If you want to make someone feel special, there's The Ivy.

Review of Specsavers
06 May 08, 13:31
I did go to Specsavers
A very pleasant experience. Recently I had to take a 15 year old in for an eye test and eventually a pair of spectacles; and it was a lot less daunting than I expected. Very friendly and professional staff, everything was well explained with no pseudo-medical jargon, and there was a good range of frames for a fashion conscious teenager. Prices were good too, and it took less than 48 hours to get the glasses made. It's all a huge step forward to the rather dingy places I remember from my childhood and the whole thing was very positive

Review of Paps Fish Restaurant
02 May 08, 11:06
Best fish and chips outside of Grimsby
Obviously the best place in the world to eat fish and chips is Grimsby... but if you don't have time for a trip to the fish capital of the world then Paps in Southgate is the next best thing. It's not cheap, but this is North London. The fish is huge and has the most delicious batter. Can't recommend it enough.

Review of Ikea
01 May 08, 12:24
The best IKEA in the country
This IKEA is relatively new... remember the news story about people getting stabbed when they opened it at midnight!?!.. well I'm pleased to say things have improved since then for this store. It is by far and away the best branch of IKEA in the country, and I have been to a lot of them. Even on a Sunday (when most of the country seem to worship at the church of IKEA) this one is pretty bearable. Ample parking, a well laid out store with plenty of shortcuts through to other sections, helpful staff and you don't have to wait til you turn 80 to collect stuff from the pick-up point. It's all good.

Review of The Science Museum
30 Apr 08, 14:05
Don't like science? Don't worry you'll love the science
Even if you're not a fan of the science, you'll love the hands-on exhibits at the science museum. It's great fun for kids and big kids will love it too. It's a shame about the cafe though, last time I went it was SO busy it was unpleasant.

Review of The Comedy Store
30 Apr 08, 13:14
teehee!
Had many an hilarious night here. It's the first and best comedy store. They often gets some big name standup acts and almost more fun some unknowns who then go on to be famous and you can say "oh I saw them at the comedy store in 2008 when noone knew who they were." Whatever you do - do not sit on the front row!

Review of Ollie & Nic

Adore this shop!
I love this shop... purses, bags, jewellery... it's all gorgeous. I particularly like buying friends presents here because you can get them something different and special. I bought my friend a yellow bag with budgies all over it recently and she loved it. I have quite a few bits of jewellery from here too and cos they're unusual they always get a comment (in a good way!?)

Review of The Whole Hog
25 Apr 08, 16:30
Palmers Greens best!
I reckon this is probably the best pub in Palmers Green. Even though we live in Southgate and there are much nearer pubs we often drink here. It has a really friendly, warm atmosphere and very good prices. Green Lanes is one of the longest roads in the country... this pub makes it worth walking up!

Review of Thru The Looking Glass
23 Apr 08, 16:31
Fantastic Aladdin's cave of stuff for your home
Thru The Looking Glass sells fantastic furniture, pictures, mirrors, ornaments, jewellery. It's a brilliant shop crammed full of stuff set over two floors and various different rooms. If you're fed up with the usual suspects - IKEA, Habitat etc. then this is the perfect shop for you. Great customer service, the staff are really passionate about what they sell. And a lot of the furniture can be delivered within a few days which makes a change from the long waits at places like M&S/John Lewis.

Review of Abracadabra
23 Apr 08, 13:51
Best fancy dress shop - ever!
Going to a fancy dress party, not armed with a loft full of old clothes or a mum who's handing with the sewing machine... try Abracadabra! It's a brilliant fancy dress hire shop with an enormous amount of selection. They are incredibly friendly and helpful. It's not cheap but worth it if you want to wow your friends.

Review of Lakeland
21 Apr 08, 20:59
Something for someone who has everything
Lakeland has come a long way from the catalogue my Mum used to get when we were kids... What I love about this store is they sell stuff you didn't even know you needed - genius. If you enjoy cooking or cleaning (who enjoys cleaning I hear you guy, my friend Josie is the reply) then this is the shop for you. Amazing gadgets, gizmos and whatsits to make your life easier, cleaner and more sparkley!

Review of Bluewater Shopping Centre
21 Apr 08, 20:56
The largest shopping centre in Europe
Bluewater is amazing, there is no getting away from it. It is designed in the shape of a triangle so in theory you walk less than a traditional straight up and down shopping centre. However, I find this means I come out of a shop and get disoriented and end up walking back the way I have just been - doh, maybe it's just me. When I used to live in Kent it got to the point where I was actually bored of shopping in Bluewater, hard to believe I know. Anyway, I'm back loving it now... absence makes the heart grow stronger.

Review of The Brighton Dome
21 Apr 08, 18:24
Best venue in Brighton
The Brighton Dome is a fantastic concert venue. It's a beautiful building right in the heart of Brighton. Wherever you sit you get a good view and 'cos it's quite small you feel really close to the stars. I saw the Zutons here and the atmosphere was excellent. If you get a seat upstairs be warned you can't stand up, so if you want to dance go for a standing ticket downstairs. Oh and the bar is fantastic - really funky and fairly quick service for a concert venue.

Review of English's Of Brighton
21 Apr 08, 18:13
Amazing fish Gnocchi
One of the most well known and oldest restaurants in the Brighton Laines. I have been here once and keep meaning to go back cos it's so good. I had a fish gnocchi starter, which was delicious if it wasn't so filling I would have eaten it three times over. It's not cheap and the decor is a little mad, but I really recommend it.

Review of Bens Cookies
20 Apr 08, 23:25
Melt in your mouth
Ben's cookies are SO good they melt in your mouth. Quite often you get them and they are still warm from the oven. My favourite are the chocolate, fruit and nut ones. They sell them by weight and they are not cheap, but they are so delicious and worth every penny.

Review of Romna Gate
20 Apr 08, 16:19
Amazing Indian restaurant
When growing up in Southgate I thought all India restaurants served food this delicious... I soon learnt they don't! The Romna Gate is so good people come from miles around to eat here. The food is wonderful and the service is excellent. Actually, I'm not sure I want to rave about it too much... I don't want to get into a situation where I can't get a table!

Review of Kudos Chinese Restaurant
18 Apr 08, 20:09
Fantastic set menu
This is Chinese food on a whole different level to your usual Chinese restaurant at the end of your road. It isn't cheap, but it's worth spending a little bit extra for the incredible food. Go for the set menu with a duck course. Just make sure you don't eat for around a week before hand so you can eat it all!

Review of Kay and Company
17 Apr 08, 22:21
Kay cut my Mum's hair when my Mum was pregnant with me
My family has such a long association with Kay and Kompany. Kay actually cut my Mum's hair when she was pregnant with me and I'm now 30-something!?! There is a reason we've been coming to Kay for years - she is brilliant. They make you feel really special and you leave looking great and feeling really pleased. I now have Fan cut my hair and she is excellent. Oh and the head massages the girls who wash your head give out are just incredible.

Review of Lamb Inn
17 Apr 08, 22:00
Some of the best pub grub I've ever eaten
The lamb at Pagham served up some of the best pub food I have ever eaten last Sunday... was it something to do with the long walk across Pagham Harbour before hand..? Well, it certainly worked up an appetite! I had roast ham, eggs and bubble and squeek and it was delicious. The ham was just melt in your mouth. You can eat in the restaurant (can book) or the bar (can't book), we ate in the bar. The atmosphere is really friendly and the staff are very attentive without being in your face. They also have yummy snacks on the bar, like sauages, cheese, olives and calamari - all for free - fantastic!!

Review of Sussex Falconry Centre
17 Apr 08, 21:40
Your chance to handle a falcon or an owl
This place gives you the amazing opportunity to handle a falcon or an owl. The birds will fly and land on your arm and when you touch the owls they are just so incredibly soft. It's very good value for money and the staff are incredibly knowlegable. I really recommend going, oh and they have a dinosaur exhibition too 'cos they found dinosaur remains nearby.

Review of Harrods
16 Apr 08, 18:39
Don't look at the price label
My Dad always says about Harrods "If you have to look at the price label you shouldn't be in Harrods." He's right with most of the stuff on sale, except maybe some of the amazing produce in the food hall. Anyway, it doesn't matter if you can't afford anything (well, it might matter to you, but it's never particularly upset me) 'cos you can just wander round and people watch. I remember as a child watching the world's most spoilt child being bought an electric car to drive round her estate - amazing. It's also brilliant to take tourists round, American's love it!

Review of Bartle Hall Country Hotel and Restaurant
11 Apr 08, 15:32
Fantastic wedding venue
I went here a couple of weekends ago for a friends wedding and had a fantastic weekend. The staff were brilliant, very attentive but not in your face. The house is gorgeous and the grounds are very well kept. The food was delicious, especially considering how many people they were catering for. Some wedding venues can feel a bit like a sausage factory, churning another wedding out every day... but Bartle Hall didn't feel like that at. Also, an important one for guests - the bar was cheap! I can't comment on how much the day cost but I had a wonderful time and if you're getting married and looking for a venue I'd recommend having a look at Bartle Hall.

Review of Fantozzi Restaurant
20 Mar 08, 15:52
I'm a huge fan of Fantozzi
I love this restaurant. We've been going here for years and remember when it was tiny and always empty. Now it's huge and you have to book to get a table - but it's still great (thank goodness, don't you hate it when places expand and lose what made them special) The pizzas are enormous, the gnocchi is delicious and the service in fast and friendly.

Review of ShakeAway
20 Mar 08, 15:40
I love shakeway
I love this place... though on a weekend the queue is out the door (it moves quite quickly) I always take my DFL friends (down from London) here, it's particularly good in the summer with a hangover. Do not whatever you do have the jam doughnut flavour - uugh! And be warned if you have sweets in it they'll go rock hard.

Review of Revitalise
20 Mar 08, 15:24
Fantastic Pilates Classes
I've been going to Pilates at Revitalise (what was Planet Janet) for a few years now and the classes are fab. They are a really friendly and bunch. They also offer other things like yoga, acupuncture, reiki and massage. They have a cafe too, but I've never eaten there.
