Review of The Brighton Marina Estate Management Company
29 May 08, 11:22
Brighton Marina
First built in the 70s as the UK's largest Marina you end up wondering when they're ever going to finish it. I'm sure it's wonderful for yachtsmen and some of the shopping areas are okay, but what an appalling entrance to what should be a Monte Carlo experience. The carpark is probably the most horrible building in Sussex (ramps are far too narrow) and the cinema and other facilities in that area are terribly run down. I know the management company have big plans to improve the marina, they need to hurry up before they are overtaken by places like the Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne.

Review of Bowlplex

Could do better
I've been here quite a few times and most times something goes wrong technically. However, the staff are apologetic and helpful, the beers keeps flowing and the food is fairly good. AND it is much better than the bowling at Crawley which is total chaos (I shall be reviewing that next)

Review of Asda Stores

Go to the one in Hollingbury instead
This is not a great Asda... it just doesn't have a very nice vibe to it, I can't put my finger on it? Maybe it's cos the whole Marina can feel a bit soulless and weird at times? I would suggest going to the one at Hollingbury instead, they have more selection and it just feels brighter.

Review of Alias Hotel Seattle

Nautical theme - not in a naff way, honest
The Alias Seatle Hotel in Brighton Marina is where a lot of the celebs who perform in Brighton stay - Pink and Maroon 5 recently. It feels like you're on a ship in the corridors, low cellings and portholes. The bar is fabulous (amazing cocktails) with a great roof terrace over looking the marina. Try and get a sea view, rather than a view of the cliffs!

Review of Cineworld

Been to better... been to worse...
The cineworld in Brighton Marina is a pretty average cinema. The seats are comfy and they get the temperature right (some cinemas are really cold) The free parking is good, but you have manoeuvre round the multi-storey car park with the most narrow ramps the world has ever seen, nightmare!

Review of Jacksons Wharf

One of the best Wetherspoons I've ever been to
This is a great Wetherspoons. They can be a bit souless and similar but this isn't. It's set over two floors, with an excellent decked area outside to watch the boats from. I have eaten here a few times and found the food to be pretty good, considering I know they microwave much of it (my brother used to work in a Wetherspoons years ago)

Review of Pizza Hut

Good buffet lunch
I went here today with my colleagues from work 'cos we had some free vouchers. We enjoyed the buffet lunch, all you can eat pizza, pasta and salad. I thought it was very good. Our waiter was speedy and friendly (engaging in some amusing banter with us) The Marina isn't the best place in the world to visit 'cos it's all a bit ugly and disjointed but I thought this was a good branch of Pizza Hut and noticed they had 5 stars for hygine.

Review of The Ebony Room

Tinkle the ivories
Really popular piano bar on Brighton Marina. The pianist who was there last time I visited was excellent. Made me think of Billy Joel when he was forced to perform in bars in California to escape the IRS. It has an incredible cocktail and champagne list.
