Review of Homebase

21 May 08, 12:25

Enormous 4*

This Homebase is the enormous! Homebase recently started selling furniture and this shop has more or less everything in the catalogue on display - brilliant. It also has a massive garden section and all the usual DIY stuff. You still get the usually wait to see anyone about a kitchen, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

Review of Hi Ho Silver

Gorgeous silver jewellery shop 4*

Hi Ho Silver sells primarily silver jewellery, but also silver bowls, pictures frames and things like funky salad servers. It is a small shop but things are well laid out. It's the sort of place where you can just spend ages trying on loads of necklaces and bracelets - just be warned you'll struggle to make a decision they're all gorgeous.

Review of Lakeland

Avocado slicer?! 4*

You've got the LOVE lakeland. They sell all those domestic gadgets you never knew you needed. This store is fantastic, set over three floors, it sells everything and anything. They also have helpful staff lingering (not in a bad way) around on the shop floor ready to help at a moments notice.

Review of Between The Lines

05 May 08, 13:06

Great for gifts 4*

Outside Between The Lines it says "Sells natural nurturing products," inside I didn't find many of those whatever they are? But I did find lots of cool little presents for people. Everything from a book of cheese tips (!?) to Sarah Bridgewater spotted crockery.

Review of Macari's

05 May 08, 13:04

We're taking you back to the 80s! 3*

Inside Macari's is a trip back in time to the 1980s. You queue up with your tray rather like a bad service station, place your order and then find a seat. The jacket potatoes come with too much filling... what I hear you cry... how can a jacket potato have too much filling... well believe me I didn't think it was possible but Macari's put them in a little bowl and then swamp them with filling - not good. On the plus side they do great baguettes and hot chocolate and they have some seats outside so if it's sunny you can watch the good people of Chi (that's what the locals call it don't you know) wandering by.

Review of New Look

05 May 08, 12:59

Light and airy 4*

This is a great New Look. It's light airy and easy to find your way around. The clothes rails are well spaced out and you can easily see what's on offer. The TopShop in Chichester could learn a thing or to (see my review of that branch) Also they have some rails for unusual designer stuff which I've not seen in a New Look branch before.

Review of Topshop

05 May 08, 12:55

Small and cramped 2*

This is a really small branch of top shop, with too many rails crammed into too small a space. Also because there isn't much space they don't have the usual Topshop myriad of colours and sizes. On a Saturday the queues can be pretty long and snake round the store adding to the whole crowded feel of the place.

Review of Thru The Looking Glass

23 Apr 08, 16:31

Fantastic Aladdin's cave of stuff for your home 5*

Thru The Looking Glass sells fantastic furniture, pictures, mirrors, ornaments, jewellery. It's a brilliant shop crammed full of stuff set over two floors and various different rooms. If you're fed up with the usual suspects - IKEA, Habitat etc. then this is the perfect shop for you. Great customer service, the staff are really passionate about what they sell. And a lot of the furniture can be delivered within a few days which makes a change from the long waits at places like M&S/John Lewis.

Review of The Selsey Tram

17 Apr 08, 21:47

Large and ugly outside, friendly inside 3*

The Selsey tram is a very good pub for watching live sport and has a great atmosphere during big games. The pub is big and ugly from the outside but don't let that put you off 'cos it's nice and friendly once you get inside. I have never eaten here so I can't rate the food I'm afraid. Oh and they have pool tables.

Review of Dragon Chinese Restaurant

17 Apr 08, 21:37

Superb set menu 4*

The Dragon in Chichester is an elegant and spacious Chinese restaurant. The service is fast and friendly and the food is delicious. Lots of different flavours and unlike some chinese food not greasy at all. I recommend trying one of their superb set menus.

Review of Trents

17 Apr 08, 21:31

Delicious fish pie 4*

Trents is owned by the same people who own the Crab and Lobster at Pagham Harbour. It is a trendy (in a good way) bar/restaurant with a lively crowd and a good atmosphere. It isn't cheap but the food is very good so it's worth the money. They have a few rooms upstairs, but I've not stayed over so I can't comment. For those who smoke there is an excellent outdoor smoking area, which practically feels like you're indoors.
