Review of Sainsburys
01 May 08, 22:10
Used to be a hospital... this Sainsburys needs emergency surgery!?
This Sainsburys is built in the ground of the old Highlands Hospital for those of you old enough to remember when Chase Farm and North Mid weren't the only options. It is a tiny Sainsburys - if it were a Tesco it would be an extra I'm sure. They try to make up for it by being friendly and the store is pretty good for whizzing round and grabbing a few bits. But it is small, doesn't always have what you need and the carpark is often very busy.

Review of Abracadabra

Best fancy dress shop - ever!
Going to a fancy dress party, not armed with a loft full of old clothes or a mum who's handing with the sewing machine... try Abracadabra! It's a brilliant fancy dress hire shop with an enormous amount of selection. They are incredibly friendly and helpful. It's not cheap but worth it if you want to wow your friends.

Review of Grovelands Park

Lovely park with everything - woods, fields, lake, playground
Grovelands Park is a lovely local park with a bit of everything - woods, playing fields, pitch and put, lake, playground, cafe. It is overlooked by one of the priory hospitals and in the summer you can see if you can spot a star in rehab having a stroll round the grounds!?

Review of The Salisbury Arms

Just off the green in Winchmore Hill
This pub is a bit too big to have an atmosphere. It does have a great range of obscure draught beers though. Decor identical to a lot of "modern" pubs... massive sofas and flock wallpaper. I had a burger, which was very good. But my friends burger was burnt and they had run out of quite a few things on the menu on a Saturday lunchtime?!

Review of The Orange Tree

Traditional Old Boozer, with a publican who "enjoys the craic"
The Orange Tree in Winchmore Hill is a traditional pub with a really friendly atmosphere. I'd particularly recommend it for sports. My family go here to watch the football. They do a fantastic roast beef sandwich at half time. The publican is an Irish bloke and is very friendly and up for a laugh.

Review of Three Wishes The Public House
16 Apr 08, 21:36
Traditional pub with an older crowd
The Three Wishes Pub in Winchmore Hill is a typical traditional pub with a fairly old clientele. It is quiet most of the time. It serves traditional British ales so I'd recommend it for old men who want a drink, but don't mind that there isn't anywhere particularly nice to have a smoke.

Review of Queen's Head
16 Apr 08, 21:33
convenient for Winchmore Hill Station
The Queen's Head is on Station Road and is conveniently located just opposite and down a bit from Winchmore Hill Station (mainline no tube) It a friendly pub which gets really busy on a Friday and Saturday night with a good crowd of people. They have a fairly good wine selection and a nice quiet garden.
