Review of Bournemouth International Centre

A Good Choice
As venues go, this is a pretty good one. I've been to gigs and comedy nights here and have really enjoyed both. They get some great acts here and it's large enough to always get a good 'spot' The bar is a little tricky to get served at but in general, they cope pretty well. I'd recommend anyone to go here - it's good.

Small but good choice
Right in the centre of Winton this branch is great to pick up on some high quality grub. I used to always shop here as you can take advantage of their 2 story car park. You can use it for free and stay there as long as you like, so it's good if you fancy a meander round the shops in Winton too (not that there's much on offer!) There's a small bakery section and quite a large choice of wines.

Review of Richmond Arms
08 May 08, 15:30
Used to be good.
The Richmond used to be my local and I've spent many a drunken evening in here. It's quite a dark dingy pub, with 2 bars. There are screens dotted around, so it's quite a good place for watching the football. However, it is frequented by quite a few odd characters so I wouldn't recommend gonig on your own (unless you take a paper and keep your head down) The garden is huge, with plenty of seating so it's a good place to go in the summer. Having been back a few times recently, I'd say it's got a little rougher round the edges.

Review of River Island Clothing Co

Average
Not the best branch of River Island I've been in but it's certainly not the worst. It's reasonably sized, with the one floor per section - the shoe selection downstairs is probably the highlight of this branch. The changing rooms are a little on the smelly side and qutie small, so I always tend to wait til I get home to try anything on.

A great Craic!
I love this pub - for all it's dark and dinginess, it has a really good atmosphere. It's very tiny inside but always very welcoming. The staff are friendly and they serve up probably the best pint of guiness in Bournemouth. If you're lucky, you'll get a shamrock adorned on the top! It has such a friendly atmosphere that you often end up chatting with everyone else in there and I have even seen a few sing songs start up. Only drawback is it can be a bit of a struggle to get to the toilets upstairs and if it's busy you end up clambering over people!!

Rough around the edges.
A great place to spend your Saturday afternoons after a hard morning shopping! This pub is centrally located and great value. They have a wide selection of food and ale and there are plenty of TV screens dotted about so you can catch up with all the weekends sporting actions. You tend to get alot of stag do's and hen partys in here, so don't expect to go in for a quiet drink. A nice sun trap area out the front so it's great in the summer.

Review of The Brasshouse

A young crowd...
Not the best place for a quiet nice - this pub is strictly for the youngsters. It has a huge dancefloor and some very cheesy DJ's. On a Friday/Saturday night it's like a foam party without the foam. Ultimate cheese but fun if you're in a big group.

A great Irish bar.
This pub is a fantastic place to go on a weekend. They always have a live band on and everyone there is up for the craic! You get alot of students there but also an older crowd. They've provided a great smoking area outside, with heaters that actually work! They also offer a table service for drinks which is a nice touch when it's busy. There is also a top bar, which is better to go if you want to chat. If you visit during the day it can seem a little dark and dingy but the lunch menu is good value, offering favourites like bangers with colcannon mash. A good all rounder.

Review of Borders Books

Bordering on brilliant
I love this branch of Borders. It is simply massive, with 2 floors to lose yourself in. They have a huge selection of books and the staff are happy to help with recommendations or tips. There is a small coffee shop at the back. The queueing system is a little bizarre, with a tiered system that can leave you waiting a while. This is a shop to browse in, if you're nipping out to buy a paper don't shop here!

Review of Peppino's Restaurant

One of the better ones
This is a real gem tucked away in Charminster. There's a really nice atmosphere in here and the staff are friendly and helpful. Their risotto's are delicious and well recommended, plus the bonus is that you don't have to trek all the way into town!

Review of The Bank Wine Bar
25 Apr 08, 15:40
As expected
This bar is so so. During the day, it tends to be empty, other than the regulars propping up the bar. Night times are generally quite busy but people tend to only pop in rather than spend the whole night there. I personally find the decor a bit off putting - lots of reflective surfaces and 80's lighting. Not my favourite places!

Great
I really like this bar - have had many a drunken night there! It does get really busy, with people tending to spill out on to the street! Crowd tends to be a real mix of people but there's always a buzzy atmosphere and the staff are really friendly.

Review of Sharkeys Pool Venue
25 Apr 08, 15:33
Don't eat the food!
Despite not being a pool shark, I really enjoy going here. The beer is cheap and there's plenty of tables, so you never have to wait. Best if a group of you go rather than a couple. The only downside would be the food - which is cheap and extremely greasy. It's basically chips, chips and more chips!

Review of The Moon In The Square
24 Apr 08, 16:29
Wether it's a Wetherspoons or not...
...it's a pretty lame pub. It's gets really busy, mainly due to the cheap deals they do on drinks and meals. The pint and a curry night was always popular. This particular Wetherspoons is probably more disappointing than the rest - it's in need of a refurb and the staff need a bit of customer service training!

Review of Bar Vin
24 Apr 08, 16:03
Busy-ish
Bar Vin is not as popular as it used to be - tends to be more of an older crowd but still gets busy on a Fri/Saturday night. Good place to visit on a night out but wouldn't be thep lace to spend your entire night. Music tends to lean towards the cheesey side - plenty of Wham!

Review of Coriander Mexican Restaurant

Tequila!
This restaurant is more about the atmosphere, than the food. Whilst the menu is what you'd expect (apart from maybe the tequila sorbet) the feel of the place is great. It's got a real buzz about it and it's a nice touch that you can draw your own placemats. Interesting to see all the drawings that plaster the walls!

Review of Walkabout Inn

Spit & Sawdust
This place is heaving on the weekends, with plenty of talent. It's more of a spit and sawdust kind of place but after a few sambuca's - who cares! I wouldn't recommend this bar as a place for a quiet, intimate drink but they do some good themed nights so it's perfect for a big group of pals.
