Review of The Trocadero Centre

A evening at the London Trocadero 
A busy Wednesday in the office, let’s catch up with a friend and a movie. That should relax me I thought…how wrong can one Londoner be?!
One had the misfortune of meeting a friend in the Trocadero for a movie the other week. Despite the maze of neon lights, the rattle of slot machines and the continuous noise of the arcades, I managed to find my way to Cineworld within this modern day Labyrinth. Confused by the multiple levels of this building and the unorganised layout, I was very much grateful for the sit down. The movie did not live up to much. So much so that the highlight of the evening was the Daily Mail that the patron before me had left in their seat for me to read!
After ‘enjoying’ 90 minutes of 21st century cinema, and still none the wiser, it was time to leave. After pleasantries and goodbyes it was time to work my way out of this building…alone. I felt like a solo explorer about to set of on an African adventure, unaware of the route and without the necessary jabs! Not only had this contemporary soundtrack from hell that is the modern arcade been turned up in volume, but I was welcomed by a see of adolescence. Without going into too much detail about these youths, I can assure you that they were not the Von Trapp children in any way, shape, or form. One just feels relieved that they had without protest left their mopeds and scooters outside.
It took me 10 minutes to navigate my way out side, and at this point I would like to that my GCSE geography teacher Mr Gale, without who this would not have been possible. In a building that impressively stands out in Piccadilly, and is magnificently huge within, it does seem an almighty shame that the Trocodero has become nothing more than a novelty for bored tourists who have more than likely missed the last bus tour. Soon the popularity of this place will wane and a re-think will be in order. The Trocadero doesn’t need a face-lift as such, more of a balaclava.
Self proclaimed as “London’s leading dinning, entertainment and shopping centre”, one can only assume this is measured by the amount of victims trapped, or indeed lost, inside.
