Good for Lunch
Definately worth a visit. Light and airy so it's a pleasant atmosphere. A nice place to come if you fancy a light lunch, but don't fancy tracking down a Wehterspoons or forking out for a restaurant.
Can get very busy in the evening with students discussing their BUSA league placings

Slim Fit
Althought the doorway makes you think that this shop is going to be small, it actaully spreads out once your inside. Mens and women's clothing and fantastically they do a lot of slim fit clothing. If you've been to the gym then you'll be chuffed that not all their clothes are built for someone the shape of a space hopper

No Coffee Shop
This franchise of the chocolate store (I didn't realise they were franchises either) is the one without the coffee shop.
This means that it's easier to get loaded up on all the chocolate they have on offer without having to fight with someone trying to buy a latte

Beautifully Handy
Even the convenience store supermarkets are in beautiful buildings in Bath.
Really handy when you want a sandwich and it's cheaply priced just like the supermarket.
You can also pick up some groceries for an evening meal without having to make a specific trip to the supermarket on your way home

Great Food
I have to admit going in here when in bath. It was a real experience. The food was fantastic and it was much different to fighting my way around Tesco.
The food is frighteningly expensive and would only ever go in here for a few bits and bobs. However I did feel a bit like a peasant and had an urge to doff my cap everytime someone in a twinset and pearls went past.

Fantastic furniture and reasonably priced. You'll find something that you can't possible live without and need to take home.
However don't ever think "I'll just quickly pop in" because once you're in your leadaround a predetermined route and you'll be her for ever.
I now realise why Norway was under Swedish rule for so long... they went into an Ikea and it took them 400 years to find their way out!

A great Marks and Sparks but at discount prices.
The outlet centre is a great place to come and the Marks and Spencer's store is a must visit. You can get everything here but cheaper than the other stores on the high street and it doesn't even feel like you're a season behind.

You can't go to swindon and not geta taste of why the town is as big as it is.
Swindon was built on the railway thanks to Brunel and this place tells the history of the place and how it came to grow
Great for an afternoon and you can take grandparents here who will tell you that this is how trains are supposed to be.

Great Little Venue
Keep an eye out on this place as they often have some up and coming acts that won't justify playing at the Wyvern Theatre, but are still good.
It's a good little venue with a family feel to it, a bit like everyone is invested into making the arts centrea great place to be and not just a job.
THey have something for everyone, (some of it not for me) however you might find an up and coming comedian who is on the way to the big time

I stocked up on stuff here for my cat. They had everything I needed and the cat food was really cheap (but not so cheap as to indicate that it's rubbish)
The staff were always helpful when I was unsure of what i needed or where it was. If only they'd don a course for cats on the green cross code then I might still have use for the store.

Excellent
I'd lived in Maidstone a few years before thinking about using this boat service. It's great and not many peole have ever been on it, even though they are residents.
You can tour the river medway for an hour or 3 and get views of Maidstone and the surrounding areas that you can't get anwhere else. Allington castle isn't really viewable from anywhere but the water.
It'll also drop you at the Malta Inn so you can have a pint before returning.

A bar at night, but also a great Chinese/Oriental restaurant.
A bit more authentic than your normal sweet and sour chines takeaway, but not as far down the road as Wagamama. Think of it as a blend between the two. Reasonably priced and beautifully decked out inside. A really nice place to sit and eat or have a drink.

I stumbled upon this place after an afternoon out in London (it included a little bit of drinking as well) and I was famished. But it wasn't a savoury day and I was overjoyed at finding this place that tends to be reserved for a shop in Bluewater and cabinets in stores of Tesco.
Grabbing a selection box of a dozen (heavy on the custard filled) I had one of the best train journeys of my life, just me and my very expensive buy awesomely satisfying donut treats

Speaker's Corner
One of the few times that I'd much rather be in in a tube train than in my car as it's hellish trying to drive around Hyde Park Corner. If you're heading to Mayfair then you'll see why it's one of the most expensive squares on the monopoly board. It'll also be the station to go to for the big concerts here.
It'll get a bit busy when the weather's nice as londoners head this way to the main area of green in the centre of the city.

Big is Beautiful
When you're talking about TVs there is no such words as "too big" and Sony know how to do it better than most.
So you've got to knock through the living room wall into the garage so you can see all the tv without having to move your head... so be it.
The staff here are knowledgable and can give you advice on what you should be looking for (LDC v Plasma etc) and they do laptops and camcorders
Sony do some beautiful tvs, but be prepared, you'll pay for it. Hey once you've been in here and spent your money, you may never be able to go out again, but you won't have to with a TV that can double as an Odeon cinema. Just make your money by charging your mates extortionate amounts of money for coke and popcorn, you'll soon be able to go out again.

Great for Little Ones
I have to agree that this place looks tiny from the outside. I used to go to the gym opposite and always thought that you could do the whole thing in about an hour, including travelling.
I was very wrong. There's plenty to keep the kids occupied. Older children might get a little bored, but it's aimed at small kids and my nieces loved it. It is mostly outside so it's great for a sunny day, although I haven't been there on a wet day, when it might be a little less exciting

Pleasant afternoon
The food is nice enough, a little fancier than your usual pub food. The main draw is that this place is out of the way so you don't have to battle with crowds and on a sunny afternoon or evening you can head round here and have a pint outside. The front feels a bit like a car park with benches on it, but you don't mind as you look across the river Medway and the boats that go up and down this stretch of river looking down towards the historic dockyards at Chatham

They're very handy and I like the old school way they work. i had a list of things I needed and as it was quiet, the lady took the list off me and whipped around the shop taking all the items off the shelves, rung them up and I was pleasantly surprised that they don't stock the named brands, there were the same products but just basic no frills versions that were really cheap. Perfect Sunday in Maidstone
The perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Walk from the town centre through Millenium park and along the river to the Malta Inn. Then you can reward yourself with a cold pint sat outside on one of the benches right next to the river's edge.
The pub is a Beefeater and is typical food wise for the chain. It's not going to set your world on fire, but it's good enough for a lunch. During the Summer, they also have a BBQ going as well, which is a great idea.
You can also take a boat from the town centre to the Malta and it's a great way to see Maidstone without having to drive along the A229

Higgledy Piggledy
A fantastic little book shop full of unusual and main stream books, both new and second hand
As you walk down through the arcade past the tropy shop, the book store is spilling out all over the place. It has some order to it, but a bit chaotic which is what gives this place it's charm. In place of the regimented chain book stores, the higgledy piggledy nature of the place draws you in, like you've just stepped into your own Portabello Road

Review of Rose Revived Inn
03 May 08, 20:33
Oxford Pub Postcard
I took my grandmother here for lunch as it was her birthday and she loved it.
This place is probably how many people picture an Oxfordshire pub from their times watching Inspector Morse. If a cold beer as the river flows past the beer garden is what you want then the Rose Revived delivers it in spades.
This is really one of the most picturesque settings for a pub in Oxfordshire, sharing this accolade with the Maybush (just across the road) and the Trout at Wolvercote.
The pub sits just off the A415 next to the bridge and the river flows right past the beer garden giving you great views of the Thames (it becomes the isis at some point near Oxford and nobody ever seems to know why) and the ability to hire an electric punt at the foot of the garden so you can have an hour's messing about on the river without having to put in the elbow grease to move the boat, or indeed lose the pole in the abundant Thames mud.
The food is plentiful and well done. Not too fancy, but certainly filling. I went on a Saturday lunchtime and inside it was cool even though the sun was shining on the benches outside. Counting the number of tables, they were only at a quarter of capacity, yet still seemed a little overrun. A simple sandwich took half an hour to arrive, so I wouldn't like to see what it's like in the height of summer.
The staff were polite and friendly and were happy for us to take up the table for as long as we wanted chatting. Having been before I opted for a child's portion for my grandmother and that was more than enough for her, even the steak sandwich (which was a bit more than the medium rare I asked for) and chips was like a full meal. Prices were reasonable, lunch and a round of drinks for 5 came to around £45.
This is an ideal way to spend a sunny afternoon and the photos I've added will hopefully make you realise, that if you're after "Picture Postcard" Oxford then the Rose Revived is definately a place to visit

I used to go here as a kid and still come here every now and then. There's plenty to do and you get to play farmers til the cows come home (or until they close)
As you're on the edge of the countryside when you visit this place, it's a short walk for a country picnic. I know that Oxford isn't exactly a bustling metropolis, but Cogges is a great way to get into the country.

An old throw back to my days in Oxford and somewhere that i've still gone to all the way through.
80s and 90s and today (I'm sure that's a strapline for a radio station) I love this place and it's a nice environment. There's not sense of undercurrent of violence (which you sometimes get in this Oxford)

Great for Weddings
Right on the river with fantastic views. the hotel is really nice on the inside and the catering is great.
Certainly one of the nicest hotels in Oxford. I had a friend who had his wedding here and it's was a great location and the staff were well set up to cater for weddings and guests

Afternoon Tea
I took my mum here for afternoon tea. The sandwiches were great and so was the tea.
There was a load of sandwiches and cakes and it's much nicer than your average starbucks. Certainly worth it for a bit of class in Oxford

Much Better
Finally refurbished which as has been said before. Thank god because it was a bit of a dive before.
But now the rooms are fully defined and nice places to be. And Park End will always have a place in my heart as I once met Joey Beauchamp here. I get the feeling he wasn't as excited to meet me

Driving Range
This review is for the shop and driving range.
The driving range is great. They have automatic tees (hoppers) that load the ball onto the tee for you which is great if you're trying to keep your posture straight.
You an go through a load of balls very quickly though and you'll be tempted to buy some more (you'll end up with a sore back in the morning though)
A good driving range and a well stocked shop where you can try out all the putters as well. Brilliant

Golf Bargains
Golf bargains. If you've ever been to a golf shop at a golf club or course then you'll know that prices can be high.
If you can tear yourself away from the high street then head up here for some bargains. They have loads of stock to choose from and it's much cheaper than other places.

Car Park Labyrinth
One of the biggest John Lewis Stores around in the UK.
Everything from cookware, sports equipment and clothes. It's a proper department store.
However, take note of which entrance you came through if your car is parked out the back of this place otherwise you could be going round and round in circles before you find it again
I've used the phrase "I'm sure the door was by the curtains... where the hell are the curtains?"

Pregalicious
"I look like a cow" "I look horrible" "Take those F*&£ing dungarees away from me or I'll kill you"
all sentences that my brother in law heard from his pregnant wife. When they visited me I took them into this independent boutique tucked away in the royal star arcade. The staff were helpful and kind and mysister came out with some clothes she liked and flattered her pregnant figure. Also my brother in law though I was a saint for saving the marriage (I also bought them a playstation for their wedding present, so I'm an awesome person to have around... I thank you)

Top Service
A little shop in the corner of the Royal Star Arcade, so you have to make a specific trip to go and visit it
However, if you don't want to go to Bluewater for designer brands then you can get them here.
A good line in G-Star Raw jeans and t-shirts. They have a nice selection and are exceptionally friendly. So friendly that my friend didn't have much time, rang ahead and they picked out some stuff that he might like in his size so he could go straight in and try it on with out having to browse
Now that's service

Efficient
It's basically like Millets. It's good though and they have plenty of stuff for any outdoor excursion.
it's not as specialised as Snow and Rock, but not all of us are conquering everests...a lot of us are just going hill walking so it's perfectly pitched
The staff were helpful and I found what i was after really quickly, which is handy as my parking was rapidly running out and i didn't have time to mess around

Camp-Tastic
Plenty of camping and outdoor equipment.
There is plenty of different items to choose from laid out on the shop floor (which was ok as I don't think i've seen the place really busy at any point so they've got it right)
There's more stock up the stairs at the back of the shop so have a look up there as well. A nice tidy shop as well as the last time they were in there they were scrubbing the windows with extra vigour

I have to agree that Bakers are the diamond specialists.
The staff are always helpful and friendly and will talk you through everything (even if you don't know your carrotts from the carats)
They can also advise you on what is suitable and the best value or your price range

Jeans and T-Shirts
The menswear shop is the antithesis of the shop opposite (Claytons) by aiming for an sub 30s market
Jeans and selections of T-shirts and shirts.
The shop is quite small, but it's nice to pop in and have a browse away from the generic high street chains that you find in every town.

Well Heeled
Best classic men's clothing for the well heeled country gent
It's actually a good selection of clothes for someone over 40. Plenty of smarth clothing available and more casual slacks and shirts
I scoffed as I walked past this place, but realised when I went in that the clothes were of good quality and my dad would absolutely love it in here (and he hates shopping) They know their market and have targetted it really well

Review of Sainsburys

Open from 7am on Sunday
This is a rating for the garage that is on chain hill and a little way away from the supermarket itself
The garag is open from 7am every day (including sunday) and has a very spacious shop with all the name brands you would expect in a sainsburys. It's a bit less to offer than a Tesco Express, but still a lot on offer.
If you're going through the car wash remove your areal or you're taking your life into your hands and it's nearly ripped the thing off.

I always used this place as it was fast cheap and reliable
The car came out looking gleaming (which was suprising at the amount of dirt that i'd let build up)
It's also one of the few car washes that doesn't almost remove the car arial... so well done Arc

Not many people know about this place. A lot of them have lived in Oxford for a long time but still haven't discovered this garden.
I agree, that it's a good place to take an hour to avoid the hustle and bustle of Oxford. If you need to get away from work then you can waaste some time here
A bit of peace and quiet tucked away in summertown. If you don't want a pub garden for lunch tnen go down here

Good Quality rugby
You'd be surprised how high the quality of rugby is here. Oxford have been captained by a previous Wallaby captain, although in the twighlight of his career
It's not all rah-rah students it's good rugby against qualit opposition and you're able to have a beer as you watch it too.
Not expensive and if you love rugby then you can do far worse than come here to watch a game

A really nice place to eat. The area of the castle is beautiful at night and makes it a much more pleasant experience that it could otherwise have been

Review of Whitstable Rugby Club

Small but Perfectly Formed
Whitstable Rugby club is a small club off the Thanet way, tucked next to Sainsburys however the quality of rugby is really good.
You can watch from the balcony on the clubhouse with a cold beer in your hand which is perfect.
They also have a small gym, which is basic, but probably has all the free weights you could want to bulk up on. Plus... it's really cheap so headdown there, the guys are really friendly.
But... never use the handily placed shampoo bottle in the showers. It's full of immac and will make your hair fall out. You hve been warned

Take a Coat
A cracking stadium well thought out and the facilities are much better than their previous stadium (which, if I'm fair... was a hole)
The football is ok, however I've no idea how they get brazillians to come here as the skyline is just power stations and it's also flippin cold! If it's not July, then you'll need a coat!

Very Helpful
Don't just wander along the high street in Canterbury, make sure you explore some of the parallel streets and the ones that head down to the Cathedral
Moss Bros is here and they do a good line in shirts. If you need to get dressed up for a black tie ball then check them out, they've always been helpful when I've had to rent a dinner jacket or tux

Hidden Gem
A hidden gem in Canterbury that deals specifically in menswear
It's up some stairs so it's not immediately obvious that it's there.
It has a wide selection in a very large shop with loads of choice. Staff are helpful and friendly and it's all very good quality
The main selling point for me is that it's not a high street chain so you won't have seen stuff like here before, unlike some of the places where it's exactly the same no matter which shop or city you're in.

Fascinating
Fascinating and not just an art gallery. When I went in there, they were showing an artist's work which was portraits of Morris Men from the local area.
I didn't think I'd be interest, but it drew me in as I wasn't even planning on going in here.
They have facilities if you want to get into art and photography and the people will help you start out or talk you through the art on show
Not enough people go in here and they really ought to

Hidden Gem
This is a bit of a hidden gem that you have to be shown by an "insider" as it's up some stairs and doesn't look like a shop
That is until you get upstairs. It's a well stocked spacious and well laid out shop
The clothes are designer brands and affordable high street items. They do a good line of shops and the clothes are of good quality. I know this because I still have a prescious red hooded sweater that is still going strong after 5 years.

First Ed
It makes sense that this place is here as Canterbury is a place where rare and antique books were often first written and published
This is a little shop that looks like a house but is fascinating. I felt like an intruder at first, but quickly lost myself in the rare first editions and very old maps.
The person in the shop was extremely helpful and talkative. You can tell that rare books and first editions were their passion

Educational and long lasting
If you're buying stuff for children and you don't want it to be tat... or you're like my family and are obsessed with "educational toys" then you can hit a happy middle ground here.
There's a good range of toys and books that will stimulate little minds. I was once dispatched here for birthday presents for my niece and she's still playing with a lot of stuff that came from here, or it's been passed down to younger siblings. The staff were helpful and there was plenty of choice in this store

Let the kids do it
I once built a bear for my niece, but made sure she was with me. It can seem like a long winded process if you do thi on your own, but the kids love it.
She enjoyed building "bear" from scratch (she chose the name, not me) I also skillfully avoided adding the voice box, which gave me some brownie points with my sister.
It's not as cheap as a normal teddy, but it's the fact that it's personalised is the plus point.

Several levels
Over several levels and if you're taking a wheelchair you might want to pick your entrace wisely otherwise you're going to have to use the lift.
The menswear section was extensive enough, with women's and childrens stuff upstairs
They do a hire service for suits and the staff are helpful enough. They'll always come over and ask you if you need anything specific.

Great for DJ Hire
An outfitter of Oxford University students that has been around for ages.
If you want to look like an intellectual with green courdroy and elbow patches then this is a good place to start. The do a good range of shirts and jackets though and have on site tailors
I hired a dinner suit from here and the staff were very helpful and the price was very reasonable (plus I had the thing for nearly a week)

Check Out The Meadows
This is the best known college of Oxford and simply it's the biggest.
The grounds inside the college are large and spacious (and found in many an episode of Inspector Morse) but the real treat here is the treat is the meadows that are the banks of the Isis (Thames) where you can laze away a summer afternoon pretending you're Lewis Carrol writing Alice in Wonderland

It's like TK Maxx but with direction order and purpose. The clothes are well arranged like a large department store even though you're aware you're in a warehouse.

Fast Food Court
Part of the new Whitefriars section of Canterbury's shopping area.

Review of The Canterbury Tales

Fascinating
This sin't the cheapest place to go, but Chaucer is an integral part of Canterbury's history.
Fascinating to look around (don't worry it's not all in middle english, so even if you remember the first few lines of the Wife of Bath from sixth form but not much else you'll be ok) and it's not too intellectual that kids won't enjoy it.
If you're going in Summer then be prepared to queue behind a large group of foreign school kids who probably haven't got a clue why they're there.

Probably the best supermarket that there is in Swindon.
it's not as busy as Tesco and the produce is a bit nicer as well.
it's a good size and there's a homebase next door to make it convenient for one stop. Unlike other Sainsburys the shelves are all fully stocked and there is a cafe as well.

Once you've found your way in and realised that the used cars and new car sections are quite a distance apart then you should be ok

I got a good deal and have been very please with my car.
