Review of Charing Cross Underground Station

05 May 08, 11:02

Kent Bound 3*

This is the tube station for Charing Cross train station and is actually quite quiet. I've been through here on peak times and although it's looking old and tired, the train station only serves Kent, so the tube station isn't that crowded.

Review of Covent Garden Underground Station

Rammed 2*

Many people get on at Covent Garden to go to Leicester Square... don't. You actually walk further getting to and from the train than you do actually walking overground between the two stations

It's always rammed. if you can get an overground map and walk from one of the nearby stations that won't be as cramped

Review of Embankment Underground Station

Good for River Walks 4*

This isn't as busy as you might expect, but it's a good tube station to come out of if you want to get the sights of the river.

You'll also get the best views if you walk down to Westminster from here and see the houses of parliament and Big Ben etc.

Review of Leicester Square Underground Station

05 May 08, 10:46

Rammed 2*

Usually completely rammed as Leicester Square is the focal point for most tourists as they head to london.

The most confusing aspect is that it's not actually in Leicester Square, you have to know where you're going to find it, or you can end up heading in the wrong direction.

Make sure you come out of the right exit or you're going to have a busy main street to cross

Review of Zara

24 Apr 08, 14:25

European 4*

With their base in Barcelona, Zara concentrates on the more European style of clothing. Very different if you’re used to shopping at River Island and although you won’t find very current trends there, you’ll definitely find a selection of good quality tailoring and classic pieces for your wardrobe that will last.

Review of National Car Parks

21 Apr 08, 17:45

Get Thin 3*

I hope you have a thin car if you’re planning on parking here. It’s underground and spirals down and down. I was in a smart car and even then it was a bit of a squeeze. I thank the fact that my mate had the hindsight to turn his car around, otherwise we would have had to reverse all the way out. 4 hours parking cost £17, which is expensive, but if you add up the cost of the tube and the pain hopping on and off stations it’s not quite as bad as you’d think.

Review of Nandos

21 Apr 08, 16:50

All about the building 4*

Nandos… Same old same old you think. Well not exactly. Yes, they have the normal menu that you would expect from Nando’s but this building is what makes the place special. Plenty of booths and nooks and crannys so, unlike normal Nandos there is a sense of privacy when you eat, you’re not in a cafeteria

Review of Paul Smith

21 Apr 08, 16:03

Awful Staff 1*

Paul Smith is certainly somewhere to go. The shop is fascinatingly set out as it it’s 4 old shops that you wander through and explore. The clothes are of great quality and if you head downstairs to the suit section, the suits are brilliant. There is an expert on suits and downstairs the staff are extremely knowledgeable… however, if you go upstairs, the staff are appalling. Pretentious, sneering, posing, gossiping, preening show offs who stare down their noses at shoppers. This isn’t a bitter diatribe as they were horrific to the person in front of me and couldn’t have cared if he’d burst into flames.

I have to apologise to the suit guys who were great, but the ground floor were so awful and the prices were high, they end up with one star.

Review of Burger King

17 Apr 08, 14:23

Toilets cost extra 3*

Typical burger restaurant that's decked out like a 50s diner. Consistently busy as Leicester square becomes a focal point for tourists. Hard to get a table at peak times and you may have to beg borrow steal your way into the toilets, even if you've bought something

Last time I went, it was easier to jump aboard a intercontinental airliner at Heathrow than it was to take a pee here, even though I'd bought a meal

Review of Jewel Bar

16 Apr 08, 21:38

Pricey but Impressive 4*

Overly expensive, but impressive if you want to show off to someone.

Although it's pricey, it's still very impressive on the inside. You're date can't fail to be impressed by this bar, but certainly not somewhere you pop in for a quick one, not unless you happen to own a firm of solicitors nearby.
