Review of Mem and Laz

Tasty, Quick and Cheap
I popped into Mem and Laz with my girlfriend one evening. We had a bit of time to kill and wanted to grab some food before going to the cinema. We mentioned that we only had an hour to the staff and they were particularly helpful. Our food arrived quickly, they brought us the bill early on, and we managed to get in and out in 45 minutes.
What made the evening even better was the food which was served. All really high quality Middle Eastern dishes: I had a marinated lamb chop, while my girlfriend had a selection of roasted vegetables with goats cheese. Better still the price was really reasonable. Sub £30 for one started, two mains, and two bottle of beer.
Highly recommended.

Review of La Petite Auberge

It's Chain with another Name
Ok it's not strictly a chain but it's basically the same restaurant as Le Sacre Coeur which is next door to the Parv.
The menu is nice, it's nothing to shout about but does some of the classics particularly well. The French onion soup for example is delicious. On my most recent visit I had cod in a sun dried tomato sauce. The fish itself was perfectly cooked, however I found the sauce ever so slightly overbearing.
Deserts are a treat as the do a range of Crepes, including one filled with bananas, brandy, almonds and ice cream.
If your going for the first time try a Sunday, they do a great roast for only £6.50!

Review of Browns

Average
Strictly speaking there is nothing wrong with Brown's. The food is nice enough and reasonably prices, the decor is neutral, and the atmosphere is pleasant.
But for me that's also it's biggest problem. I can't really describe it but I got the overwhelming sense that I was in a hotel or airport restaurant. It just all felt a little to familiar.
Praise should definitely be given to the staff who on the night I visited were clearly sort a few team members, but nevertheless kept up and we're always friendly.

Review of The House

Cheese and Filo
I went here last weekend after I was shot down for a reservation from the guys and girls at Moro. Not to say that this is a Spanish restaurant, I just thought I'd start with that. Anyway.
The house serves up a great menu. I started with a fantastic combination of mozzarella and goats cheese melted in a filo pastry, which despite being a bit large is as good as it sounds. Followed it up with some beef, and a bottle of Rioja.
What's nice is that there is a fairly lively bar that runs til much later at the front. meaning you can let than food settle before you wander home.
For the two of us it came to £100. They include a 12.5% service charge on the bill, which I tend to find a little frustrating but the waitress assured me that the money went in her pocket and not someone elses.
Definitely worth a first, and pleasantly away from the crowds of Upper Street.

Review of Parveen Tandoori Restaurant

Fine Indian Dining
The Parveen is easily my favourite Indian in Angel, and probably the best I have eaten in London since moving down.
The Rogan Josh is how it should be, full of frsh tomatoes, and actually quite hot, not mild like many places seem to make it. The staff are always friendly and treat their regulars well, and while the prices aren't exactly cheap, there is definitely a sense that you have got what you paid for when you leave.
Highly recommend to all in the area and beyond.

Review of Fine Burger Co

Nice Burgers -Don't Go Deluxe
I chose to go to Fine Burger Co this weekend over the other up market burger offerings. My burger was really nice and the chips were good too. The problem was that I had decided to go 'Deluxe,' exactly the same burger but with two slabs of beef and an extra £3 on your bill.
There was just too much meat and they hadn't increased the amount toppings to compensate. It was just was to much beef.
