Review of Almeida Theatre

21 May 07, 22:26

Famous intimate theatre 5*

The Almeida is a very famous, small theatre. It has a very intimate feel, and a great bar for interval drinks. Many big names have performed at the Almeida, and whether the play on show does have a superstar in it or not, it's guaranteed to be original, engaging and brilliantly acted. Check out the listings in advance, as you always need to book in advance.

Review of Tate Modern

14 May 07, 18:32

Famous modern art gallery 5*

The Tate Modern is a very famous art gallery on London's South Bank. The exhibitions vary greatly, but are always original and interesting. A recent exhibition involved a huge slide in the impressive hall. The shop is an art lover's paradise; perfect for present buying.

Review of The East Hill

Great local pub 4*

This is a nice local pub, which is always busy. Locals from around Vauxhall seem to while away whole days in this gastro pub. The wine is good, and the food menu irresistible. Always full of young professionals eager to relax and meet friends over a drink or 5.

Review of Barbican Library

09 May 07, 18:30

Extensive library 5*

The Barbican library is great. It has a wide range of fictional books as well as educational books, travel guides and the internet. Tables allow members to work or read quietly in the library. The adjoining children's library is also well stocked. You must either work or live in the local area to join.

'Exclusive club' 3*

This is an 'exclusive' club in the West End. The theme is Middle Eastern , I'm guessing they're going for Moroccon, with low lighting and low sofa seats. You're pretty much guaranteed to see a semi-famous soap star there; though to achieve entry you may have to talk your way in. The music is usually pretty dull RnB.

Review of The Woodman

05 May 07, 20:03

Good local 4*

The Woodman is a nice local highgate pub, with a small beer garden, that's a bit too close to the road. There's lots of real ales on offer, and so the Woodman attracts some of Highgate's older residents. The kitchen offers up Thai food, which is good but somehow doesn't quite fit with the type of pub the Woodman is. The atmosphere is nice in the evening, with a real fire and candle light.

Review of Barbican Cinema

Arty cinema 4*

The Barbican cinema is a very pleasant place to watch a film, and is especially popular with people who you imagine work in the arts. Both mainstream and independent films are shown.

Review of Zoo Bar and Venom Nightclub

04 May 07, 17:02

Awful bar 1*

This is an awful, tiny, tacky bar in Leicester Square. I believe the only reason it's still going because it's main trade is tourists who go once, realize it's rubbish, and never go again, but the next day the new lot of tourists do the same thing. A lot of the men that go to Zoo can be intimidatingly sleazy.
