Good Pizza / Confused Service
A nice Italian restaurant despite the scatty service.
When we arrived post cinema, the individual who greeted us didn't seem particularly pleased to see us and there seemed to be some confusion over who was serving us. Overall, the staff just seemed bored and robotic...
Despite this, the food was excellent (the meatball pizza was fab), but the coffee let them down slightly. My double expresso was too hot (obviously machine generated) and there were no mints!
A few misgivings, but worth a second visit if I'm in the neighbourhood.

Solid Curry House
This is a great Indian restaurant to visit after a few beers on an evening when the mood takes you; the curry's are nice and the naan bread is pretty special...
Nothing wrong with the food, nothing wrong with the service, decent draught beer and tucked away nicely so it's not particulary busy (so you get served in good time).
Just a solid curry house that does what it says on the tin! Nice...

Review of Waterloo Railway Station

Busy Busy Busy!
My train into work always connects with Waterloo, and for such a massively busy station it's got much better over the years. You can grab a coffee from pretty much all the caffiene based beverage chains and tuck into a spot of breakfast in the morning or something far more greasy on the way home after a few drinks!
Rush hour gets pretty mental so you need to have your wits about you. If they bring back the record shop then I may consider throwing in an extra star!

Review of The Garrick Arms

The Local
Ideally placed for after work drinks and not a bad starting point for Friday night adventures.
A mixed bag of work colleagues, theatre goers and tourists mainly populate the bar and as it's an after work haunt it can be pretty packed from 6pm for a few hours...
Some high prices on their more continental draught lagers, but overall a pretty solid public house!

Review of All Bar One

Not Bad...
A nice location and one of the few All Bar One's where you can sit outside on a sunny day... It tends to get very busy, but the three levels give the place a spacious feel and they serve a decent array of beers... The staff are generally pretty friendly and as there are two bars I've found it reasonably quick to get served... As a central London location it's not a bad old bar really (if you can handle the inflated prices)

Review of The Porterhouse

Nautical but nice...
The Porterhouse is an absolute monster of a pub, that makes you feel like you're in some kind of psychedelic submarine after a few drinks with it's nautical themed interior...
The range of beers is pretty impressive, but is gets SO busy post 6ish that it becomes a bit much and a real endurance test to get served at the bar!
The downstairs area is pretty cool, and they play some decent old indie tunes, but the place isn't what it used to be a few years ago...

4 Star Pesto Bread - 3 Star Service
As Italian restaurant chains go, this is pretty special. Great if there is a group of you and the pesto bread is to die for - sends the old garlic bread staple back to the dark ages! Great traditional Italian style pizza and they serve the full range of peroni beers!
Sometime they don't always get the service right at this particular location (the reason for the 3 stars) a they can be a bit sluggish and your dishes don't always arrive at the same time (if there is a large group of you), but overall it's pretty good...

Review of Malden Centre

Gym = Good / Swimming = Bad
I've been a member of The Malden Centre for a few years now and you cannot fault the gym facilities; especially as it has been recently refurbished so there's more room and better kit! Plus the staff in the gym are genuinally heplful and are not gym snobs that you sometimes get in the more popular and pricier chains.
I only really use the gym and the pool, and the only criticism I have is the lack of opportunity for lane swimming at weekends. If I fancy a refreshing few lengths at the end of the week I either have to get up at the crack of dawn, or strategically time my Saturday afternoon with military precision so I can get there during the hour and a half window that lane swimming happens to be available!

Review of Pitcher and Piano

Okay bar for a quick drink after work...
A great location, good size and a good selection of beers and other beverages. The only thing that lets it down is that it gets really busy due to its location (so it ends up being rammed full of people having a few drinks after work) and they still insist on reserving the entire first floor and other areas on the ground floor that can be really infuriating!
I can't remember the last time I had a drink upstairs! So, in summation, if the P&P stop sticking 'reserved' signs all over their premises every night it may get another star, although currently it can only recieve a paltry 3 stars...
Still a good bar though...

Review of De Hems

Thank Frulli for De Hems!
I love this bar, although it is very popular and gets really busy on an evening. It's well located on the periphery of Soho and their selection of Dutch beers is very impressive.
We usually frequent the top floor, although the trek to the toilets in the basement can be annoying once you've been there a few hours!
A great venue for a few cheeky drinks after work (although I am yet to sample their food!)

Review of Bear and Staff Pub

Sausage and mash-tastic!
This pub gets an extra start purely for it's award winning sausage and mash! A great little boozer, although not one for an evening out as it's quite small and you struggle to get a seat. Great for after work drinks or a spot of lunch. The selection of ales and lagers are good too!
