Arty club nights in listed East End pub 
Listed Georgian pub on the Commercial Road, now under new management. It’s frequented by an arty chaotic set of hipsters who are encouraged to host events and parties in the pub. There’s no stage so bands play at the same level as the audience, which gives an intimate, party feel. There are DJs, poetry nights, record launches, Red Cross training events, people puking in the toilets on MDMA. Yay. See www.myspace.com/thegeorgetavern for listings. Fun fact: It’s next to the Stepney Nightclub, which was the location for Pulp’s infamous ‘Common People’ video (the one with the light-up dancefloor)
