Review of Chapter One Bar and Kitchen

Trendy Bar in Stroud Green
I went here for a friend's birthday and was quite impressed. It's one of the few places in Stroud Green that will be open late on the weekend so it has a west end feel on then. Prices are ok and I hear the food is good although I never treid any. Its probably the nicest place on stroud green road and have the most atmosphere after 11. Sometimes they have drinks promotions on so try and pop down then. Overall I really liked it there.

A Pub with A Tree In It
I was told by a close friend to go to this pub a while back because its an unusual pub. And he was right, as right in the middle of the pub is a great big tree! About 2 storeys high although it is dead, they have built some of the walls into the branches but it does look pretty awesome. The rest of the pub is pretty cool, theres some remains of a church they shipped from Ireland and the layout is almost like a labyrinth which so many corners and levels to explore. Definately worth a drink or two if you are in the leicester square area.

Review of Blue Inc

H+M style of a clothes shop
I read about Blue Inc in the London Paper a few weeks ago and thought I would check it out. Its mostly full of clothes that would fit in the H+M category. The difference with their clothing is that it less studenty and more expensive. The shop isn't too big in wood green but its one of a few outside the city so its worth taking a look.

Review of Pizza Hut

Small Pizza Hut Branch
I'd expected a bigger restaurant from Pizza Hut in Wood Green. I think they have underestimated the demand for their food even thou there are a lot of food restaurants on the Wood Green High Street. Everytime I've gone the service has been good but because its tucked away in a corner of the complex, its quite a darkly lit restaurant which ruins it a little for me. Overall Its a good branch to eat but its get so busy at times that there is no point in hanging around for a table.

Review of The Kings Head

Good Crouch End Pub
I went here on the recommendation of Time Out. It's a nice pub although the interior isn't anything to be desired. It's probably the busiest pub in Crouch End so there is a lively atmosphere. Beers are quite expensive but they do have a good selection there and some good wines as well. This is one of the better pubs in Crouch End but I dont think that means much because there are very few good pubs in the area.

Review of The Big Chill House

Really Nice Place in Kings Cross
I went here last summer (06) after seeing them place an ad in the Guardian Newspaper. Curiosity got the better of me so I went down to check it out. The Big Chill has another bar near Liverpool Street but its small compared to this place. The Big Chill House is basically a really big house with 3 floors and a balcony. It's great to go on the balcony in the summer and the crowd generally is young and lively. On the weekend they have dj's playing and on a sunday afternoon they do a nice sunday roast for under a tenner. I really liked this place because its not pretentious like some of the west end bars I have been too but retains an air of coolness.

Review of Burger King

Small burger King in Shopping Centre
Ideally located in the Wood Green shopping centre and across from the Cineworld, the Burger King here is quite small for the amount of passing trade it gets. But because its small you get served quickly and I have never not enjoyed the food here. It's good for somewhere when you want some reliable food. Very popular with the families of wood green so be wary of kids running about.

Review of The Old Dairy
13 May 07, 10:10
Has it's moments, but far from decent
If there is one thing to be said about the Old Dairy, it is that the Thursday night Music quiz is a brilliant laugh. That isn't to say that the pub is good for nothing else. It has comfy sofas, it has acceptable ales (which are only occasionally available), and when it arrives, the food is okay. At the same time though, everything in here is expensive. I've got friends who complain about the prices of the neighbouring Larrik, but the Dairy is just as bad. The quiz machine isn't as good as it could be, the ales like I said before are rarely available, and the food can take an eternity to arrive. I'm not normally one to complain, but if there is one thing about the Old Dairy, it is that the whole operating team could do with a bit of a push. It's still okay, but I wouldn't go in there for anything other than the quiz.

Review of The Gentry Barber Shop
11 May 07, 23:56
Comfy but hideously expensive
If I was one day to become a millionaire, I think I'd go for my haircut at the Gentry in Canary Wharf. Decked out in a nice brown colour and with the most unbelievably comfortable chairs for any barbers I've ever been to, this place is the height of haircut luxury. This comes at a price though, and what a price. With a price range divided up between the skills of the hairdresser, you begin to wonder just how good the best of the best must really be. Using the trainee, I found her work to be brilliant I must say. Unfortunately I don't have that amount of money to spend every day, and as such, until I'm a bit wealthier, I won't be going back. Shame though, it's the most comfortable barbers I've ever been to.

Review of Souk Medina

Great Covent Garden Restaurant
I went here for a friends birthday recently and really enjoyed it. The restaurant says its North African cuisine but there isnt anything to unusual on the menu. Some of the food was really really nice especially the pastries as dessert. It's a very popular restaurant so book a table a few days in advance because you probably wont get in if you turn up if there are more than 2 of you especially on a weekend. I would definately recommend this place as somewhere to go to eat in central london.
