Review of Peter The Painter
18 Jun 08, 14:04
Exceptional quality and a great price
We've had Peter The Painter do various painting and decorating jobs for us over the past few years and have always been pleased with the quality of workmanship.
Pete offers competitive prices and has been in the trade for over 40 years so he knows his stuff.
I'd certainly recommend Peter The Painter for any painting and decorating work whether it's indoor or outdoor work, big jobs or small jobs.
We're currently got Peter The Painter in to decorate our staircase and landing and so far it's looking really good.

Review of UK Entertainments
30 May 08, 14:56
Top DJ's and quality service for your event
We were looking for a mobile DJ to provide entertainment for a party we were having for some friends and family. After ringing around a couple of places and asking around we were recommended to try UK Entertainments.
They listened to what we wanted and provided a complete package of entertainment including DJ and equiptment at a great competitive price.
On the night, the mobile DJ turned up in plenty of time to setup. He was dressed smart for the event and had everything needed including a speaker system, lights and music.
We were able to request certain songs and the DJ played a good range of music from some of the latest songs to older well known songs and really managed to get everyone up on the dancefloor. He really kept the crowd happy and we've had some good feedback from friends and family who were at the party.
I'd certainly recommend UK Entertainments for any party such as a birthday party, engagement party or wedding reception. I was told by the DJ that they also have a karaoke system which sounds like fun for those budding stars of X-Factor. They also appear to cover a wide area of Devon with DJ's travelling as far as Plymouth and Tiverton and even in to North Devon!
The DJ we hired was called Stewart. We'd recommend him through UK Entertainments and hopefully we'll be able to book him for our next party.

Review of Paradise Park
24 May 08, 16:08
A great day out with lots of interesting birds
Paradise Park is a great day out for folks who either live in Cornwall or who are visiting the county.
They have a wide variety of birds including many species of Parrot, owls, and even penguins. They also have a few farm animals which you're able to feed.
Activities at the park include an educational talk about the penguins where you're able to feed the penguins and even get up close and pet them (they're really cute up close), a free flying bird show where they demonstrate how they train the birds (this isn't the usual parrot on a unicycle but rather training the birds to live like they would in the wild).
Probably the best bit of the visit was being able to actually feed the Lorikeet Parrots. You're able to buy a small pot of nectar (for 50p) and then they fly over to you, sit on your hand (or arm, head, shoulder, pretty much anywhere they can find to perch) and then eat the nectar out of the pot.
Although it seemed a little bit pricey at £9.95 per ticket (adult), they did offer return tickets valid until March next year for £2.50 per ticket. I'd say it was really worth the ticket price though even if you don't buy a return ticket.

Review of Future World
24 May 08, 15:55
A must see attraction for anyone into gadgets and technology
Future World at the Goonhilly Visitor Centre in Helston, Cornwall is the perfect place for anyone who has an interest in all things technical. It is home to quite a few large satellite dishes which have historic value - the first dish built in 1962 called "Arthur" was used to receive live video of the space landing on the moon.
Not only do they have tours of the Arthur satellite, they also have an exhibition where you can find out how technology has changed over the years and you can learn how things may change in the future.
As well as the Future World exhibition, you're also able to have a go on a Segway vehicle (a platform with steering on two wheels) and you can also experience the 'world's fastest free internet cafe' which is hundreds if not thousands of times faster than a home broadband connection.
It was a very interesting experience although it might not be too interesting if you're not interested in technology.

Review of The Pizza Cafe
14 Apr 08, 21:56
Best pizzas in Devon?
The Pizza Cafe in Newton Abbot has to be probably the best place to go for a pizza in Devon.
They have a wide range of pizzas with lots of different toppings from the usual cheese and tomato up to some weird and wonderful combinations. If you don't see what you want they're always happy to make a custom pizza in a variety of sizes.
I've been visiting the Pizza Cafe for years, first of all in their Torquay cafe (which sadly closed a few years ago) and now the Newton Abbot cafe.
You haven't tasted pizza until you've tasted a Pizza Cafe pizza.
Every time I visit their pizzas taste as good as the last time. Their prices are fairly reasonable and they're also fully licensed so you can visit for an evening meal and have a drink too.

Review of Union Jack
14 Apr 08, 21:48
Lovely chips with MASSIVE portions
Whenever I visit my Grandma in Chesterfield (which is about a 4 hr drive away from where I live), I always make sure I stop off at the Union Jack for a bite to eat.
I'd say that they have some of the best chips in Chesterfield with massive portions, huge fish cakes and enormous cods and at such reasonable prices.
I'm not sure if it's just a northern thing but down in the South West where I live portions seem to be smaller and don't taste half as good.
My only regret is that they're so far away.
Still it's something else to look forward to when I visit my dear old Gran.

Review of Ruffles Delicatessen
11 Apr 08, 15:57
Exquisite flavours from around the world
I first discovered Ruffles when I started working at a shop across the road from them many years ago. Rather than going for the usual sausage and chips I decided to try something different.
When I first entered the shop I was blown away with the different flavours. They had a really good selection of items and not only did they have foods from around the world they also did sandwiches to order.
With many fillings to choose from I was spoilt for choice. I eventually decided on Turkey and cheddar cheese. Every week day without fail I would have the same great sandwich.
Eventually I got fed up with turkey and cheese and went over to beef, cottage cheese and sliced tomatoes.
All the sandwiches were made fresh while I waited and always tasted great.
I pop back to Ruffles from time to time. Their sandwiches taste as great as they did when I first discovered them.
I'd certainly suggest if you want to try something different, why not pop in and see what they have on offer.

Review of Klub Video
11 Apr 08, 15:47
Probably the best video store in Teignmouth
Klub Video has got to be probably the best video store in Teignmouth. Established years ago (probably around the time of the first video recorders I'd expect), they have always had a great selection of videos to rent and buy with multiple copies of the latest blockbusters in stock.
Not only do they rent and sell videos, they also offer a pretty good range of console games for the popular formats.
If they don't have that obscure title that you may want they usually can get it at a reasonable price and within a day or so. They also allow their customers to reserve films and games for when they come in.
In the days of internet DVD and game rentals and big name rental stores, Klub Video stands amongst them as a quality film and game rental store.

Review of Antibo
10 Apr 08, 20:00
Lovely resturant and great entertainment
Antibo has to be my favourite resturant in the whole of Derby. They have a real authentic feel to it, Tagatelli to die for and some great entertainment from the staff later on in the evenings.
Usually you're able to pop along and not have to wait long to get a table. You're able to have a drink while you're waiting and the food good and a reasonable cost.
If you're visiting Derby, being a 5 minute walk from Derby Midland railway station and Derby's city centre, it's a great place to start your or end your evening.

Review of The Babington Arms
10 Apr 08, 19:54
Great atmosphere and even better prices
Not only does the Babington Arms offer great prices (I guess being Wetherspoons pub helps on that respect), they also have a great atmosphere.
Unlike some other Wetherspoons pubs, Tom the manager is passionate about beer. He has contacts in a brewery which provide special ales from Wyre Piddle which are exclusive to the Babington Arms and not available at any other pubs.
These ales are not only popular with the regulars, they're also really good value too.
If you live in Derby or if you're just visiting, I'd suggest you pop in for a warm welcome and one of Wyre Piddle ales.

Review of Refresh Cartridges
10 Apr 08, 19:29
Great in store prices for all your printing and blank media needs
If you do a lot of photo printing you've probably found that it can get a bit expensive buying replacement cartridges for your printer, sometimes with a replacement set of cartridges costing nearly as much as a new printer!!!
Well Refresh Cartridges can 'refresh' your old cartridges. They provide compatible cartridges for all the popular makes and models of printer including Epson, Canon, HP and Lexmark and great prices which are much cheaper than the original cartridges and even cheaper than some of the other printer cartridge suppliers in the area.
Not only do they provide ink for your printer, they also sell a wide range of paper, labels, blank CDs and DVDs and other items for your computer.
If you're unsure of which paper or cartridges to get for your printer, the friendly helpful staff can advise you on what is suitable.
I found that the staff were very quick and helpful in answering a query by e-mail and didn't try to 'upsell' a higher priced product. I would certainly recommend them to anyone with a computer and printer. They are open from Monday to Saturday and also have a web site where you can place your order and get free delivery.

Review of Amigos Restaurant
10 Apr 08, 19:18
Great little Tex-Mex restaurant
Amigo's is a great little Tex-Mex restaurant hidden away on Union Street in Torquay.
Although it's a small restaurant, they offer a cozy authentic Mexican feel.
During lunchtimes you can take advantage of their £4.95 buffet where you're able to sample a whole range of traditional authentic flavours. It's great if you've always wanted to try Mexican food but not wanted to order a full meal.
Not only do they offer traditional Mexican food, they also have a great range of steaks, burgers and pizza's for folks who don't like their food too spicy.
It's easy to walk past Amigos and not realise it's there, although if you're walking past and you want something different to the usual fast food restaurants why not give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Review of Secondhand Land
10 Apr 08, 19:11
Everything you could possibly think of and more
Second Hand Land is probably the oldest second hand shop in Norwich.
Based down in Magdalen Street they have a large premises which specialise in all sorts of electrical items such as TV's, DVD players, videos, games consoles, mobile phones and much more.
They have some great offers in store of second hand and nearly new items, and with the large amount of items that they have on offer, they offer reasonable prices too.
So if you're on a budget or simply want to grab a bargain, Secondhand Land has to be your first port of call.

Review of Poundland
10 Apr 08, 18:53
The pinacle of Pound Shops
Before I moved to Norwich I had heard stories about this mysterious 'Pound Land' where everything was a pound. I couldn't believe what I'd heard on my first visit to Norwich I had to see what all the fuss was about.
It was such an amazing experience. A shop where everything was a pound. Not 99p or £1.29, but £1! (Apart from in the sale when some things are reduced to 50p).
Poundland is still as great as it was when I first discovered it many years ago. They sell all those essentials which you need, and even things you don't think you need until you pop in. I've bought many bargains from Pound Land in my time and probably saved £££'s. PoundLand will always have a special place in my heart and I hope that they continue trading for a good while to come.

Review of Play Nightclub
10 Apr 08, 18:43
Great club with some great nights out
Play Nightclub is one of Torquay's newest nightclubs. Every Saturday they have some of the best international acts including DJ Luck & Mc Neat and Bodyrox.
On the first Friday of every month Play also feature the Gemini FM Back In The Day Night with Gemini Torbay's breakfast presenter Matt Rogan.
Play offer a great night out with fairly good prices on the drinks and good music.

Review of Aquator
09 Apr 08, 16:53
Everything for my fishie friends
After picking up a cheap tropical fish tank from a car boot sale I needed some fish and lots of advice on how to keep them.
My first stop was Aquator who were really helpful in explaining exactly what I needed to setup a tropical fish tank and how to keep the fishies happy.
They were able to not only provide excellent advice, they were also able to provide all the bits I required such as pumps, heaters, lights, gravel and eventually when the tank was ready, the fish too!
They have lots of varieties of fish ranging from the basic common Gold Fish up to the fancy marine varieties such as Clown Fish. They also have other amphibious creatures such as frogs, newts and much more.
I'd certainly recommend them to both new and experienced fish owners.

Review of Willow Tree
09 Apr 08, 16:09
The best value carvery in Torbay
I'd have to say that the Willow Tree is the best place for a value carvery in the whole of Torbay, and possibly even Devon!
The food is really good quality and such good value. On Monday to Saturday you can get an adult carvery for £3.50 and a kids carvery for £3.25. Even on a Sunday the price only goes up to £6.50 for an adult carvery with the kids carvery staying the same price. The carvery's are the same size no matter when you visit. Food is also served until 9pm.
There are also a fair few other great meals if you're not a carvery fan, plus a wide range of drinks including beers, spirits and a great selection of in house fruit juices.
I'd say the best bit about the Willow Tree though would have to be the deserts. If you're a chocoholic then I'd certainly suggest the Chocolate Fudge Sensation. It's about £3 (or about £1.50 for a kids size) and it is a combination of chocolate fudge brownies, chocolate ice cream and squirty cream. It really has to be experienced.
I'd say that The Willow Tree is a great alternative to the usual fast food 'resturants' that just sell processed food. The Willow Tree only provide good quality food with proper plates and knives and forks, plus you're not able to have a beer with your meal at a fast food place.

Review of SVP
09 Apr 08, 10:07
Just about everything for your computer at low low prices
I've been using SVP since about 2000 for just about all my computer consumables.
They sell a really wide range of media and consumables including blank CDs & DVDs, printer cartridges, memory cards and much more.
They also now sell computer hardware and tempting toys like flat screen TV's and DVD players.
Their prices are possibly some of the lowest on the internet, with a major saving on highstreet prices.
If you're local to the area you're able to order online and pick up the items from the trade counter to save delivery costs, or you're not local (or don't want to pick up the items in person) you can benefit from the regular delivery offers that SVP for their buyers club members.

Review of S I Engineering
08 Apr 08, 16:34
Great service
When my car was involved in an accident, S I Engineering were able to repair the damage quickly and to a very high standard.
Although the damage looked fairly bad, when the repair was finished the end result looked perfect, almost as if the car had come out of the showroom!
I'd certainly recommend S I Engineering for any car body repairs no matter how small or how large.

Review of The Music MIll
08 Apr 08, 16:27
Dance Classes
When one of my daughters took an interest in learning dance I looked around the area for beginners classes for her. I found the staff at The Music Mill to be really helpful in giving advice and the teacher really encouraged my daughter.
My daughter has been going to Ballet Classes for just under a year now and she has taken to it like a Swan to a Lake.
I'd really recommend checking out The Music Mill, not only do they do dance classes, they also do singing classes, recording and lots more which could keep all the kinds entertained.
