This one of the many attractions on London's Southbank. A multiplex cinema that offers the best of films great classics, modern classics and new cinema often has retrospectives, talks and festivals.

Review of Rowans

Rowans Leisure (10 pin bowling)
This leisure complex has 10 pin bowling, pool, arcade games, bars and food. Reasonably priced but a little rough around the edges, reminded me of Southend seafront where I grew up. Expect groups of more chavey teenagers, don't let this put you off if you fancy a night of bowling etc in the north London. To go with OK larger or small range of bottled drinks and sprits, try a basket of cheap burger and chips with ketchup and mayo uniquely available at these types of places and all night takeaways. Other deep fried reformed meat product delights fill the menu. Obviously only eat if you need sustenance for the bowling and drinking which would be the reason to go here , not the food. Good fun in a group.

Review of Wagamama

This is an ok place to eat. The service is quick and they operate a share table policy as in other restaurants. The dumplings and curries are nice but avoid the mixed fish as it tends to be a bit processed. Situated next to the multiplex cinema there are often large queue's before and after film times so avoid those if you do not want to wait.

Review of The Famous Cock Tavern

This pub always shows the big football matches. If this is your main criteria and you can brave the rough beer and atmosphere check it out. It has the typical dingy feel of a pub by a station , it's right next to Highbury and Islington. For big matches children and anyone who can't or doesn't want to buy beer stands and watches one of the several big screens through the large front window. I've been here once and probably wont be back, I like to watch football with decent beer and less highly offensive chanting from football louts.

Review of Shepherds Bush Empire

Shepherds Bush Empire
This is my favourite venue. The building was originally built in 1900's as a Music Hall and then purchased by the BBC in the 1950's and used as a TV Studio into the 80's with shows such as The Old Grey Whistle Test, Crackerjack and Wogan. It became a music venue in the 1990's and still retain the opulent decor and fittings of the original Music Hall days.

Review of Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports

This large Ski and snowboard shop has every thing you need to get kited out for your winter holiday. Just off Covent Garden it's easy to get to from Charing Cross or Covent Garden stations. The staff we have talked to know what they are talking about and have been helpful. It's not the cheapest place to get equipment compared to online shops but in the case of boots or other clothing it is best to try them on for size and get fitted and advised by staff who know their stuff. I like popping in when I'm in the area to check out new snowboard gear. I think in the summer they change over to camping and rock climbing equipment but have only passed by in the warmer months.

Review of Cuba Libre and Bar Havana

This is the perfect place to go with a group of friends for food and drinks. The tapas is great here as usual piles of plates crowding the table. It gets busy creating a lively atmosphere and some understandable waits for service and food. Aside from that the service is good; presentable and polite staff. The decor matches the lively atmosphere with lots of colourful pictures and bits-n-bobs scattering the walls and ledges. A good fun place to visit.
