Local favourite
Dominoes, Pizza Hut, KFC...what's this? A small, friendly authentic feeling Italian nestled amongst the fast food giants. The food is excellent - pastas and pizzas are made from fresh, and the service is prompt and always with a smile. It's not terribly cheap - but then, where is- and the house wine leaves a little to be desired, but for a mid-week-can't-be-arsed-to-cook fall back, it's great. Friendly, buzzy and low key- and yummy food.

Review of ONeills

GASH.
Awful food, dreadful service, about as much atmosphere as a soggy carrot stick. It's a good location - ideally situated for office drinks or pre-travel but then again, I wouldn't bother going here now that St Pancras has opened. I agree with Charles; the only O'Neills worth it's weight in Guinness is The Church in Muswell Hill. Avoid like the Irish plague.

Review of Headmasters

Not bad...but not on a Friday night
I've just had a rather winning Kate Nash-a-like blunt fringe cut here which, overall, I'm happy with. I thoroughly recommend Russ who has experience and wisdom, as well as a good eye for experimental styles as my hairdresser of choice. However: DO NOT go on a Friday night. It was chaos- I was passed from stylist to stylist, had to wait 35 minutes and my glass of wine arrived 5 minutes before leaving. Provided you pick your time and stylist carefully and have a confident idea of what you like and don't like, then Headmasters' are a good bet for a great 'fashion' haircut.

Shakespeare's Favourite Haunt...
Not really. But it could be, with it's low oak beams, rustic fireplaces and cosy snugs- this place is a wondeful throwback to the sixteenth century. Just the place to ensconce yourself in on a bitter winters night. It offers a wide range of local and speciality ales, a fine wine list and some truly delicious food- definately gastropub territory. There is also a spacious outdoor terrace area for smokers, and possibly an outdoor BBQ in summer. And for all those posh Highgate doggy owners, there is a doggy wash next door, and dog bowls for water are provided. N.B: if you leave your food alone outside too long, one of the semi-feral cats will have it.

Best Hangover Cure Going...
Having had a disappointing fry up experience at 'The Local Cafe' opposite, this cosy Spanish greasy spoon soon restored my faith in the fried breakfast. You can tailor your breakfast to your appetitory needs, including as many hash browns as you want, eggs, beans, sausages/bacon, mushrooms- and chips. All resting on four rounds of toast. The coffee is good, service prompt and even the boys were defeated by the sheer size of their fried offerings. An absolute must on a Sunday morning when you reek of cheap vodka.
