Review of Atlantis

Everything that you could want and more 5*

When I was an art student in London this was the place I would go for all my materials. I did quite usual project including jesmonite resin molds and copper wire sculpture and they always seemed to have what I needed in stock, or they would order it in. They also had a great student discount!

If you are into your arts at all then I would highly recommend popping into here. It's large enough to spend a whole afternoon browsing, from their stretched canvas to portfolio folders, its an arty hub of excellence. The staff are great and very helpful, with constructive advice on your projects and it;s not too expensive. Top stuff! Well done Atlantis.

Review of Flowers N16

A beautiful bunch! 4*

There are quite a florists along church street. It's "ever so middle class" in this area so you'll find an excess of both tea shops and florists. I'm not saying that its not cool, it's just stuffed with yummy mummies!

This florist is by far one of the best, they sell great Christmas trees in winter and have a selection of brightly coloured seasonal plants on display. The people working there are also really helpful, they really know their stuff and any green fingered question you have, they will endeavor to help you with. My fella popped in here and got me a really simple and beautiful bouquet for Valentines and last summer I got all my window box flowers from here.

Out the back of the shop they have a large space with bigger plants and they sell really nice presentation gift stuff. Generally a lovely store.

Vietnamese that does good Thai 5*

Yep I went here for lunch today, saw the lovely Vietnamese dishes like their vermicelli buns but decided to go for one of their top notch Pad Thai.

The place is small and the dishes are all around £5 so it's a great place to stop off for some lunch. They have a BYO policy on booze so if you do decide to do some drinking you can do it on a budget as there is a off licence a few doors down.

The place is small and Fiona is right, no large groups but as a lunch place it's perfect for a quick bite to eat. The portions are large so you probably won't need a starter if your not that hungry.

It's just down the road from my work so I think I will be popping in here for a few more meals in future.

More gems than you could shake a pirate at! 5*

I luuurve this shop. It's like girlie heaven and if you are looking for a romantic gift for someone, or actually even if you want to treat yourself, you should pop in here.

They have caught onto the 'smell marketing' that both Lush and Body Shop practice and as you walk in you are greeted by a wall of their fantastic perfumes. It's a luxury shopping experience!! Basically they just sell jewelery but you do get their signature fragrances too. Wow, this place sells amazing stuff, from little copper birds in cages that hang from your ears to ant necklaces to miniature cupcakes and sugared almonds hanging from your ears.

After a hard day at work I have been known to hang around in this tiny shop for my entire lunch break. I didn't walk out buying anything but I had a lovely chat with the friendly staff and tried loads on, it was like I was visiting friends with an extensive jewelery collection! This is a fantastic place to pick up a pressie, it's not cheap but it's good for something that little bit unusual.

Review of Ginger Group Of Hairdressers

Snip snip a little too snap snap 3*

I'm the kind of person who resents paying over £10 for a hair cut but after a disastrous cut at Mr. Toppers on TCR I gave in to the fact I was going to have to fork out a substantial sum to fix the problem.

I booked, I had my hair cut and I left happier that when I came in but for some reason it wasn't the most pleasant experience. I may have been the slightly aggressive senior staff member and terrified staff or it could have been the customer arguing with the over animated surly staff about the price that they had for some reason doubled. For me it was okay but I didn't feel special or relaxed and I don't think I actually went back to this place. I don't want to pay £40 for such things - sorry!

Review of Mustard Sandwich Bar

Big baps for me please 4*

When I was working in this are, this one one of the best places I discovered for lunch. The problem with Oxford Circus is that everyone crams into all the eateries from about 11am until 3pm and finding somewhere without a tourist blocking the doorway.

This greasy spoon is a fantastic place to grab one of their lunchtime baps. With a selection of fresh fillings the choice really is yours. They have a few seats which are a little bit squashed at the back but I've never sat there, only had take-away. It's not that pricey either and whatever you end up eating from here is bound to be tastier tan anything else you'll find in the area. They are family run and do close most bank holiday but apart from that they are a dream of a cafe.

Review of Navajo Joe

Tasty except the prices 3*

I went here for dinner as I had received a 2 for 1 voucher and thought that even though I knew it was expensive for drinks though that this would make the bill more reasonable. This is a lovely bar/ restaurant with a Mexican-Americas feel. The lighting is dim, the seating spacious and comfortable and the clientèle less touristy that most other places in this area.

We ordered 2 main meals and 2 drinks and the final bill (with discount )came to £30 which considering the standard of food was a little overpriced. I was also surprised to see that my boyfriend had been given a double drink rather than a single without even asking for it.

But saying all of this I do still like this place, as a bar they sell excellent cocktails and have experienced staff, you are always greeted with a smile and if you are looking for a nice place to spend an intimate evening this will do.

East London den in Central 4*

This is the place where you'll find the cool kids hiding when everyone else is hitting the larger hot spots in town. Generally unless you're taken here by a friend, its not somewhere you would go.

As you walk in, after dealing with the somewhat scary looking staff, you can wind your way down the stars into the skinny concrete cave that is the bar/nightclub. Leather sits line the minimal room and music is loud enough to get the party started. Music is what this place is made for, with great DJ set and their take of the office past time with 'Hip Hop Karaoke'. Generally I feel that with a bundle of friends this could be a prime location for a cracking night out but what holds me back is the somewhat empty feel it can have when its not heaving with people.

They do serve my favorite drink and prices are reasonable, they also hold a lot of free nights, which is surprising this far into central London. Definitely worth a visit but check out their website to make sure you get the right kind of music.

Review of Rasa South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

Does good curry take time? 4*

I highly regard the reviews written about this place and expected great things from such a pretty pink restaurant. We booked a table a few days before and when we arrived it did seem a little like they had forgotten that we were coming. A new area had to be set up for us. We were sat down with our menus and 40 minutes later we still hadn't even had our drinks orders taken. I love having a good catch up with friends and don't mind at all waiting for the food, but not even getting us a drink in an already very warm restaurant was a little ridiculous. This is the only reason why I can't give this place 5 stars.

Anyway, after I reminded the very friendly and busy waiter that we were possibly in need of a drink, our orders were taken - and wow what a meal!

A really great selection of non greasy dishes all a little different from the Anglo-Indian cuisine you can find on other parts of the high street. It's just a sham,e that they were a little over worked and too busy on the night we went.

Review of The Boulevard Bar and Dining Room

Christmas lunch sorted 4*

I had a bit of a panic last week. I had to book a work Christmas lunch for 13 people and I had screams from all directions as to what people wanted. Turkey! Veggie! Christmas pud!

After phoning around a few people I thought I'd try here and I'm really glad I did. They were excellent at catering for a large group of people, with all our pre-ordered meals coming out at once and piping hot. Really tasty food with a good selection for all at just £25. For what we paid I think it was excellent value for money in Soho, London. My only complaint will be that we were sat by the door and it was a bit of a squish.

I'm not sure if I would go here with just one person as it does lack a little bit of atmosphere, really you have to bring the party with you. But the place was decorated very tastefully and I really enjoyed myself.
