we love velvet 
I stumbled across Velvet recently as I am new to Hove and now every time I am in George Street I just can't resist going in... it's got everything for the girlie girl or if you like individual kookie gifts... from accessories for the home, bags, shoes, clothing, jewellery, it really is a little treasure trove full of the prettiest things you will ever come across... and at lovely prices too... definately worth a visit.

Review of Hove Lagoon Watersports Centre

like it windy?!! 
Hove Lagoon has a fantastic range of courses from beginners to advanced, whether your into Wakeboarding, want to try your hand at Surfing or Windsurfing.. or maybe fancy sailing a yacht... there is so much going on a Hove Lagoon... they have lots of cheap courses and one off trials throughout the Summer and a man made lake for you to get started on... they do sailing trips abroad and cater for all ages.. theres also a fab little cafe and chill out area there... try the baguettes which are delicious! All the guys there are really keen water sports fantatics and are really patient and helpful! Go to their website to find out what there currently doing!!

Review of The Station

Identity crisis 
My feeling with the station pub is that it would be far better being one of two things... either a good modern little bar for the commuter crowd or a nice sitdown pizzeria/restaurant. As it does both of those things, I can't help feeling that instead of being okay doing both that it should be great with just one?! Saying this, it is a nice little pitstop and quite convenient being next door to Hove station, the pizzas are really tasty... but there are nicer places I would go for both a drink and food in Hove..!

Footie pub...! 
Again this is one of the pubs we like to go to when watching the footie and it is always packed out... It's fairly old and traditional with 70's furniture and panelled walls... but clean and friendly and they do good hearty roast dinners for about £9.95!! One thing though is if the football is on it's not such a nice place to eat as they draw all the curtains so people can watch the game on the big projector screen... not so good fubbling around in the dark for your roasties!!

Great little pub!
I really like this pub. It's a real locals pub situated in the Poet's corner it's a great location if you live around in the area. I love the decor which has a rather grand feel to it with lovely wallpaper and chandeliers... it serves all your usual largers, bottles and snacks and also shows all the big footie games and has a pool table so is quite often busy on a Saturday afternoon when we go to watch Chelsea! There is outside seating but as it's on the corner of a residential road it's a bit squashed. All in all the look and feel of the pub is great... definately recommend if you need somewhere to watch the footie!

Best florist around
I love this shop!! I first became aquainted when my boyfriend presented me with the most gorgeous bouquet of white and pink lillys for Valentines... they honestly took my breath away.. they were beautifully wrapped with pink tissue and cellophane and a big pink ribbon and looked very expensive!! I went there myself for something for mothers day and the lady was really helpful and put together something equally as gorgeous for my mum and I was suprised at a very reasonable price tag of £25! You can let them know you buget and they will put something together for you... I really really recommend this place either for something special for a special someone or just because you can!

Bagel love
I adore bagels... The bagel man is great for breakfast bagels or if you fancy something at lunchtime too! they have loads of tasty fresh fillings and a great menu to choose from or you can just make up your own! They also do omletes and soup a few other hot things and there is seating if you aren't in a rush to get anywhere! You can also pick up pain bagels at the bakery section if you want to make your own at home... If your a Bagel fan my favorite combination is toasted onion bagel with cream cheese and fresh tomato with black pepper... yum! Give it a go!

Popular Hove venue
Freemasons is a great evening out or a stop off on the way into Brighton for the night. It's one of the more popular bars in Hove with good reason. The staff are really friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and buzzy and the music is funky if not a bit loud. Downstairs is more traditional with adequate seating and tables and upstairs is slightly more upmarket with a great little cocktail bar... great for parties or just a couple of drinks with your mates.

The place to go for Italian Cuisine
I went here a couple of months ago for a friends birthday and was very impressed... La Piazza has a real buzzy atmostphere, the staff are attentive and friendly... they have an extensive menu with main dish prices ranging from £8 - £20 and the food is just really fantastic... One tip is to make sure you do get there early as once they start to get busier you can tend to wait a little too long for your dinner!! However that said, if it's the food your interested in I would definately reccomend it!

Review of Golden Grill

Saturday night pit stop...
My other half is a very keen believer in the Saturday night stumbling back from town chicken kebab.. particularly ones from the Golden Grill in Church road. After a rather boozy night at hove town hall we decided to pop in there and for once I actually agree with him... these kebabs are really rather lush!! Very very good portions and fresh salad makes for a very good Saturday night pit stop!! Also if you don't fancy the usual pizza or chinese in the evening, they do deliveries too...!
