Review of Mildreds

18 May 07, 20:42

Get your five a day 4*

If the word "vegetarian" fills you with fear, "vegan" conjures images of alfalfa sprout burgers and you'd like nothing better than to deep fry Dr Gillian McKeith, take a deep breath. Relax. Trust me. Mildred's is one of the best meat-free venues in London, serving punchy, interesting and un-faddy food. Pies, curries, pasta dishes, burgers and soups are hearty, good-value and made from top-quality ingredients. The service can be patchy and this place gets seriously busy (plus you can't book), but it is well worth a visit with a group of friends, on a date, for a quick bite or a longer evening. The drinks menu is good , although having sampled most of it, I can conclusively state that drinking Organic wine does not stop you getting a hangover.

Review of Pugs and Kisses

Dog Togs 3*

If you are Paris Hilton, and stuck for a new outfit for your doggy friend (no, not Britney) and happen to be in London, then you'd be better off getting on the bus to Parsons Green to visit XXX than going to Harrods Pet Department. This lovely little shop sells both the tasteful and the bizarre in the world of dog accessories. There are some adorable collars, embroidered and leather and hundreds of lovely doggy treats. For pampered pets everywhere.

Review of La Perla

12 May 07, 13:47

Sexy sexy sexy 4*

If you want to get pulses racing, kit yourself out with some Italian va va voom (or is that French?) La Perla lingerie is the best of the best, beautifully made and impeccably designed this stuff is both fashionable and flirty. Of course this super sex appeal comes with a hefty price tag. But if you want results, you have to throw money at the situation.

Review of Evisu

It's in the jeans... 3*

If you like it bespoke, "Seagull" denim brand Evisu as opened a made-to-measure shop on Savile Row (which has seen a massive injection of young blood recently). Putting down roots has only enhanced the company's reputation, as the tailoring service is notoriously efficient, while the clothing still manages to look edgy and stylish.

Review of Falafel King

06 May 07, 16:58

Falafel rules... 3*

If you like falafel then this is take away heaven. Get your falafel freshly prepared just how you like it, you can add tahini, chilli, the spiciest green sauce ever, homous, salad, the list goes on. On Saturday's when the market's on expect to queue. The only downside of this falafel paradise is the seating, there's none indoors and only a couple of tables outside which get filled pretty quickly. Prepare to elbow your way in if you want to sit.
