Review of Abbey

Fantastic customer service and advice
This branch of Abbey is brilliant - staff are always very polite and helpful and I feel that I've always been given good advice by staff there. I was also very happily surprised that when I enquired about a product the company had been pushing through TV advertising and internet ads the staff told me this was not really suitable for me and pointed me in the direction of other more suitable products but no pressure to sign up for anything. They are also very security / ID cautious here which is brilliant. It's a shame the online banking isn't as reliable as this branch.

Review of Quiznos Subs

Like Subway...
This is a nice sandwich place - think Subway and you'll know what to expect. Choose your bread, the size of your bread and then your fillings. I think it is a bit pricey for what it is but the subs are good, the service is quite friendly and you could do a lot worse elsewhere.

Review of Sweet Centre

Pick 'n' mix
I used to love this shop when I was younger and still enjoy popping back to get pick 'n' mix. The shop is great with floor to ceiling sweets and lollies. They have cricket ball sized gobstoppers which I have never purchased as I have no idea how you would go about eating that, and all the sugary, multi-coloured tubes full of horrible and equally multi-colourd goo that is so popular but which I can't stand. They don't seem to stock "milk bottles" anymore which is a shame as they are my favourite sweets and can't seem to find these around much.

Review of Spaghetti House

Long wait for pre-ordered food which was overcooked and burnt.
After a colleague really liked eating here I came for a Xmas lunch with some people and it was thoroughly disappointing. We had to book a table well in advance and also order our 3 course meals in advance - considering the restaurant knew what time we were arriving and exactly what we were going to eat it was very poorly prepared. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and we had to wait a very long time for the food; when it did arrive it was dry and overdone, some burnt. It wasn't that expensive but for the quality of the food and the service I don't think it was worth what we paid.
I would not go back here again - if they can't properly cook and serve on time food that has been ordered well in advance when they are not that busy I don't want to experience a normal service there.

Review of Sandwich Centre

Brilliant little cafe for takeaway
Be prepared to queue here but it is worth it. This tiny little cafe is fantastic - choose pastas, bean and veg salads, cous cous from the salad bar; have freshly made sandwiches or salads from the sandwich bar and then queue to pay. The woman on the till is always shouting to the guys behind the sandwich bar to work faster and for people to pay faster but it is all comical, fun and not offensive.

Nice little cafe for takeaway food
This is a nice little cafe. Food is always very nice and service is fast. It is very small so don't expect to find a seat (not many seats there and usually always taken) so go there with the intention of buying to take away and any seats found will be a bonus.

Review of Planet Hollywood

Too pricey, slow service and not much choice on menu
This is so average and only worth going once as a tourist just to say you've been there as the food is too expensive for what it is, not enough choice on menu and nothing special at all. It's loud and the service is slow and I'm just not impressed - a more expensive version of TGI Fridays with ex-movie memorabilia as decorations.

Review of Borders Books
14 Apr 08, 12:51
Books, Starbucks and Paperchase all in one place!
I love Borders - loads of books and magazines, helpful staff, somewhere to sit and have a coffee and a Paperchase - who could ask for more! It is easy to find your way around and staff are very friendly and have always been polite and helpful when I've needed their help. The Paperchase here is really nice, quite big with lots of products you might expect to find in Paperchase only stores rather than a small Paperchase unit in a book shop which is great. The Starbucks is usually so busy that it's difficult to find seats or if you are lucky enough to find a seat, the accompanying table is usually full of dirty cups and plates from quite a few previous customers.

Review of Eat

Good fresh food, bit pricey
I love going to Eat if I feel like spending a little more on lunch than normal but without splurging. The food is all fresh, organic and really high quality which makes it a little more expensive than other places such as Pret. What I like about Eat is they have their soups and pies of the week on their website so you can plan your lunch if needed. Their Smokey Bacon and Lentil Soup is a firm faviourite and newer additions to their soup menu such as Courgette and Green Chilli and Spiced Cauliflower and Potato are really tasty. They also very helpfully indicate if foods contain meat, wheat, dairy etc.

Review of Caffe Nero

Lovely courtyard to enjoy in summer
This cafe is worth tracking down if you are nearby as there is a lovely courtyard at the back of the cafe. The courtyard merges with the little market that belongs to the church next door and it is very peaceful and lovely in the summer if you are lucky enough to find a free table. The cafe itself is very small, it's the courtyard that sells this cafe.

Review of Wasabi

Fresh food, lots of choice
This is a great place to get take-away sushi and bento. Lots of selection, reasonably priced and staff are always re-stocking shelves so food is fresh.

Review of Japan Centre Foodshop

Cheap sushi
This is a great place to get really cheap sushi, but I haven't been back since my good man was violently sick very shortly after eating sushi from there. I also find the smell of the raw fish quite overpowering and off-putting and as it is so busy you are usually waiting a while to pay so can't nip in and out holding your breath to avoid the smell. Saying this we used to love it here before the "after-sushi illness" episode and I know loads of people who still love it here. After our experience I'd rather pay more money and go to Yo Sushi or Wasabi.

Review of Wagamama
10 Apr 08, 20:11
Just ok, food not consistent
Everyone loves Wagamama but I find it just average, or maybe I'm just over the Wagamama craze. I don't like sharing tables with people I don't know and being worried about my personal belongings on the shelf under the table and always ask for a booth if they are available. The food is ok, but I find that there is never any consistency with portions and spices. Sometimes I get loads of noodles in my ramen, sometimes there's hardly any; sometimes the food is really spicy, other times it tastes quite bland. I don't go there very often now as I never know if my food is going to be plentiful and tasty or smaller portions that don't taste of much.
