Review of Spaghetti House

Long wait for pre-ordered food which was overcooked and burnt.
After a colleague really liked eating here I came for a Xmas lunch with some people and it was thoroughly disappointing. We had to book a table well in advance and also order our 3 course meals in advance - considering the restaurant knew what time we were arriving and exactly what we were going to eat it was very poorly prepared. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and we had to wait a very long time for the food; when it did arrive it was dry and overdone, some burnt. It wasn't that expensive but for the quality of the food and the service I don't think it was worth what we paid.
I would not go back here again - if they can't properly cook and serve on time food that has been ordered well in advance when they are not that busy I don't want to experience a normal service there.

Review of Bella Italia

Slow service, bland food but the staff are friendly
Very average restaurant. You are always kept waiting ages for food (I've been in there when the restaurant was virtually empty and still had to wait ages), the tables are so close together that you feel you are sitting with the people at the tables next to you and the food is very bland. I've often had very overdone and burnt food served to me here. The only good thing I can think of is that the staff are always very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Don't rush to eat here unless you have plenty of time and like burnt and bland food.

Review of Zuccato

Not just a cafe, an Italian restaurant too
Until a friend asked me to meet there for food, I had no idea this was a restaurant as well as a café. Full of Italians drinking espresso in the café at the front, you can’t tell at a glance that this is a restaurant as the main dining area is hidden around the corner. I ordered a spinach and ricotta calzone which was superb and huge, I could only eat half of it…. Then again I was saving space for desert!! Desert is good too, try the homemade Tiramisu (quite heavy and a lot of alcohol, makes you want to curl up in a corner and sleep!) or the homemade pistachio ice cream.

Review of La Porchetta

This little piggy....
La Porchetta is Italian for "little pig" and that's exactly how I always feel after eating there! This is an amazing restaurant and after you’ve dined here you will get that feeling that I can only describe as one you get when you’re on holiday and have found a real gem of a restaurant where the food is good, plentiful and very reasonably priced. The portions are massive and prices so reasonable, the service is also brilliant. The atmosphere is always quite buzzing and it’s also nice to see the pizza being prepared and baked in an open “bar” section of the restaurant near the door – watch them fling that pizza dough in the air! Be prepared to queue up on Friday nights and the weekend if you haven’t booked a table, it is also quite noisy on these nights as it is always fully booked. The pasta is lovely, I recommend the home made, fresh lasagne which takes 20 minutes for them to prepare and cook (they do warn you about the wait). Pizzas are massive, one is enough to share between two people. I haven’t had desert there yet but have heard that it is also just as good as everything else on the menu.
