Review of Willow Tree

A Fantastic friendly pub 5*

The Willow Tree pub is part of the Ember Inns chain. It has just received a three star cask mark award for the quality of its ales. The pub serves food from 12 noon until 9pm and the menu is a good mix of traditional pub food and slightly more exotic dishes. Grill night is on a Tues where you can buy a steak and a pint for around six quid and Thursday night is curry night. The deal is the same, curry and a pint for about £6 but the curry's are superb and aren't your usual microwaved rubbish there is a large choice of curries too.

The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the bar staff are approachable and helpful and there is a large following of regulars so it must be good.

Review of Glow

Clean and Friendly 3*

I had only just moved to West Bridgford and needed a quick 3 minutes, I drove into West Bridgford and stopped at the first tanning place I found. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very modern with about 6 tanning booths so you never have to wait longer than a couple of minutes and thats only at peak times.

It is reasonably priced and very clean, staff are friendly and helpful and they sell a variety of creams.

Review of Inn Dragon

The best chinese in the world ever! 5*

This chinese is a superb family run restaurant. It is very modern inside and has a light and airy feel.

They do take away, delivery or a fantastic eat-in menu.

They do a mid-week lunch time deal that is very reasonably priced and you get tons for your money! I can recommend the lemon chicken and the noodles!

Review of Oceana

Delightfully Cheesey! 4*

Personally I like a variety of music and Oceana manages to offer a wide variety to suit everyones tastes. All of the rooms are well designed and clean ( no sticky floors). Generally it doesn't take you longer than average to get served and they serve a wide variety of drinks. Its all slightly over priced but this is because its a night club and you kinda expect it!

Always seem to have a good night in there myself!

Review of Drayton Manor Park

18 Apr 08, 09:13

Thomas Land was worth the money alone! 5*

I have a 19 monh old son who was feeling a little under the weather, I took him to Drayton Manor which was easy to find and easy to park. It was £14 for an adult and a toddler. Thomas Land is new for 2008 and is superb, all of the rides are aimed at toddlers and young children and they are all Thomas the Tank Engine character themed. My son was spell bound, you can take a ride to the zoo on Thomas, Annie and Clarabel, fly in harold the helicopter, there is also an indoor thomas themed play area and whilst we were there the fat controller was taking a stroll around the park and stopping to talk to all of the children, he was very convincing!

The only down side is that the cafe and under cover eating area just aren't big enough, it rained the day we visited and 4 pushchairs filled the place!

Take a picnic and go in summer is was fab!

Review of Bumpis Big Adventure

18 Apr 08, 09:30

Excellent Hot chocolate! 4*

Bumpis is a huge indoor play area for kids from 0 to about 12.

The play area is split into age specific areas with lots of different pieces of play equipment to get to grips with!

There are some comfy sofa's for the mums and dads as well as cafe style tables. The cafe serves hot and cold food and beverages. The hot chocolate is amazing!

They also do kiddies parties.

I love taking my little boy here. the under 5's area is secure enough so that he doesn't need me in there with him all of the time but it is also big enough that when I do go in to play with him i don't feel like i run the risk of sitting on any children!

Review of Goose At Gamston

18 Apr 08, 09:43

New Years Day 2*

Myself and my family went to The Goose on New Years day as we only live around the corner and didn't feel like cooking!

I wish we hadn't bothered, the staff were unhelpful to the point of being a hindrance. They hadn't updated their specials boards so when we tried to order the mix grill we were told we couldn't have it. I ordered my son mash and sausages and the mash looked and tasted like xmas days potatos mashed up and re-heated. I ordered a cup of tea and the staff blatantly forgot about it without an apology or explanation and when i took my son into the play area the staff made no effort with my son, not even a hello.

Aparantly it has had a refurb since xmas but since a change in the furniture doesn't change the levels of service we certainly won't be bothering!

Review of Metro Car Parks

18 Apr 08, 12:24

Secure and reasonable! 5*

This car park is often over looked.

Its tucked down one of the side streets behind Victoria Centre and is ideal for shopping trips.

It is really secure with roller shutters at both the entrance and the exit and you can only gain access on foot if you have a ticket to prove your car is in the car park.

Easily accessible by lifts and stairs and is reasonably priced. There is a car washing and valeting service on site which i can highly recommend. And there is a free shuttle bus that links to the Trent FM Arena Nottingham so it's brilliant for parking if you are attending an event there.

Review of B Bar

RnB and cheap drinks! 3*

I went to this bar for the first time on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised!

It is rare to find a place completely devoted to RnB music these days but this definately was!

The drinks were surprisingly cheap especially doubles, and they were branded!

The only down side to this place was the door staff. I understand the need to be vigilant but my friend was warned not to start trouble as she walked in the door and she is most definately not a troublemaker and nor does she look like one so that was a little off putting! By midnight this place was heaving and due to this was extremely warm but the dance floor was rammed and there was an excellent atmosphere!

Review of The Cookie Club

02 May 08, 20:35

Not my cup of tea! 1*

I visited Cookie Club on a friends birthday night out. And lasted about 30 mins tops!

It was absolutely filthy and the music was not to my tastes.

On the plus side drinks were cheap but you kinda question the cleanliness of the plastic cup its served in when you see the state of the rest of the club.

Generally full of students and Emos, Nemo's or whatever they are calling themselves these days! If thats your thing then I can imagine its the best club in Notts but definately not my bag!
