Review of Suits You

Poor customer service!
My boyfriend and I went to buy some shirts. We were told a certain brand were 'slim fit' however when we got them home they were like tents so we had to take them back. When I returned to the store the next day the man who refunded my money asked who had served me the day before then laughed and said 'he'd do anything to sell a shirt'. Good for him but very inconvenient for me!!

Review of Henrys Cantonese Restaurant

Tasty Chinese!
I went to Henrys with 4 friends so we were able to sample a variety of dishes and they were all of a high standard, not too greasy. I would particularly recommend the prawn toast and the beef satay. It was about £20 / head and the service was good.

Cool bar, stay clear of 'cocktails'
This is a bit of a novelty place so don't go if you have a dislike for 'disney style' gothic, but if you're sick of the generic weatherspoons bar I suggest you try this place out. The decor is very OTT but really gives that dungeon come vampire castle feel. There is a spooky recorded voice playing in the toilets (if you can find them! They are downstairs by the way) Downstairs is dark and atmospheric and there are comfy booths to sit in. They also have a menu of cocktails each themed around the 7 deadly sins. We ordered Envy and it was DISGUSTING, apparently the beer wasn't up to much either but for a change of scene I think it's worth a try.

Review of Vintage UK

Too cool for school
If you like the vintage look this is the place for you. A large warehouse in digbeth, painted bright yellow so you can't miss it, chock full of vintage delights. For men there are plenty of vintage 501s, suits, shirts and jackets for ladies there is an abundance of 80s glitter, shoes, bags and accessories. It is a bit too cool for school though so be prepared if you are the type to get intimidated by indie hipsters. Prices are reasonable and they only take card payment for items over £10.

Review of Nicky Clarke

Your hairdresser search is over!
After moving to Birmingham about 3 years ago I road tested several salons in the city centre but didn't find any where that got the cut or the atmosphere quite right but I am now a fully paid up platinum card member of Nicky Clarke in the Mailbox. If like me you see getting your hair done as a bit of a luxury I thouroughly recommend this place. The salon itself is really nice, neutral colours huge mirrors and flower arrangements and a fashion collage next to the basins. The staff are stylish and friendly, you get the usual hot drinks and magazine selections. They have a large support staff in addition to the stylists who are on hand for excellent head massage and assistance in blowdrying and styling your hair so you feel like there is team of people looking after you. If you become a regular client you are rewarded with a 'platinum card' that has a host of benefits. A cut and blow dry is approximately £45.

Review of Sabai - Sabai

The Best Restaurant in Birmingham!
This is my favourite restaurant in the city. I love thai food so have sampled lots of it in various restaurants and this is the best I've tasted. It's teeny tiny so I would recommend that you book in advance. The decor is a little odd with a large graffiti style mural on the wall but the atmosphere is great as it's intimate and candle lit. My recommendation is garlic and pepper mussels followed by king prawn red curry (the king prawns are HUGE) service is friendly.

Lovely Local
A really good pub, with something for everyone, a good beer garden, good selection of drinks, good menu, jukebox, open fire, live sport, quiz nights, live music. The front bar is usually busiest and the back bar is a coffee shop by day with a lovely old fashioned cake counter. There is a function room upstairs that is a good party venue.

Top take away choice
This is a great take away, they deliver for free, or you can have a discount if you collect. A good menu with your usual favourites + some more unusual dishes. My favourite is 'South Indian Garlic Balti', this is great for garlic lovers but not for the faint hearted. Portions are generous and you get free poppadom, onion salad and raita.

Review of Goose At The Fighting Cocks
15 Apr 08, 14:53
Popular place
The Fighting Cocks is probably the nicest pub in Moseley, but as a result it's the busiest so be prepared for long waits at the bar and limited seating or even standing room. However it is worth it, the decor is lovely, the selection of drinks is excellent, both soft and alcholic with everything from smoothies to strawberry beer. The beer garden is a triumph, quite big with just as much attention paid to the outside furnature and decor as to the inside. There is a covered shed that is heated so it's possible to sit outside in even the chilliest conditions. They do offer food but this can be a bit more hit and miss, I've had a bad roast / risotto but their ploughmans was the best I've ever had. So approach the menu with caution. Overall a good night out.

Review of Lafibule Moroccan Restaurant

Something a bit different
If you're fed up of the usual indian, italian or chinese try this Moroccan restaurant out. It's got an authentic theme to the decor and it's just the right size, not to big not too small. There is a good choice of mains and starters the food isn't as spicy as indian or chinese but it's still very tasty. It's bring your own booze which is always a bonus. The dessert menu is a little lacking, the 'morrocan pastries' used to be genuine baklava but they are now a bit rubbish. Service is ok. I was given a finger bowl as I had ordered prawns and the water was straight out the kettle and I burned my fingers so watch out! Apart from that, a good choice.
