Review of Uci Cinemas

Great sound - good location
Vue Cinema as it is now called is in a great location, it's easy to get to - there is a good carpark and although it is a pay carpark - you can get your ticket validated in the cinema for upto 3 hours for free
The sound quality in the cinema is much better than the other cinema in town
The seats are comfortable and the place is generally clean and welcoming
Only down side is that because the reception is so large it can often look under staffed - but I've never had to wait very long and maybe it's the times I visit, but I've never had to queue for any length of time
Definately prefer this cinema to the other's in northamptonshire

Review of Mothercare

Everything for a baby in one shop
Mothercare does what you'd expect!
They supply everything you could want for a new baby, and for children upto about the age of 7
while they have a great range of clothing - particularly for babies, and supply everything an expectant parent could be conned into thinking they need, many of the items are on the expensive side if you shop around
Also, i felt that the store doesn't have as many toys on offer as you can find on their website/in their catalogue although they will be willing to order anything in for you that htey don't have in stock - generally it's good - and like I said - what you'd expect!
On the plus side - the mother and baby room is very comfortable and much better than in the old store!

Review of Toys 'R' Us

Great toy shop - only danger is spending too much
The bonus of having neices and nephews or children of your own is that you have the perfect excuse to visit Toys R Us!
Great selection of toys/games for all ages and well laid out
The "Babies R Us" section is well stocked and I found that it generally better priced than the same thing/similar item in Mothercare

Review of J Lawrence & Co

FAB sandwiches
This is a traditional bakers - but they do gorgeous filled rolls with good quality ingredients - for example the chicken salad rolls have a generous amount of freshly sliced chicken breast in them - rather than processed meat.
also, as someone who doesn't like mayo - its refreshing to find a sandwich shop that doesn't put mayo or dressings in all it's sandwiches
they do a nice supply of fresh breads and cakes too!

Review of The Workhouse

what you'd expect
This pub is also part of the "Welly Run" pub crawl route - it is very lively at weekends and it can take some time to get served - but generally it's not too bad!
There's a pool table and it has big screens showing lots of sport
The lunch menu is simple - but it's always been tasty and good value when I've eaten there

Review of Crown & Cushion

part of it's charm is that it's not vy smart!
A tradional "Boozer" - part of the imfamous "Welly Run" pub crawl so can get very busy at times at the weekend
There's a great garden with a children's play area - which is largely under utilised - mainly I'd guess because the decor of the pub is so out of date
However, I love sitting in the garden in the summer with a glass of something cold!

Review of The Gardeners Arms
28 Apr 08, 16:46
Good pub
The Gardeners Arms is located on the Wellingborough Road in Northampton
It's relatively quiet in the week but busy at weekends with people doing the infamous "welly run" - pub crawl
The pub has a pool table, friendly staff and an outside courtyard for smokers with a few chairs and an umberella
Nicer than some of the other pubs near by!

Review of Boots The Chemists

not designed for pushchairs or wheelchairs
While the store provides everything you would expect, selling a good range of beauty, hair, gifts, baby products etc medicines, has a pharmacy etc
However, the store is on two floors and while it has escelators to each floor if you are in a wheelchair or have a children's pushchair with you in order to purchase items from each floor you need to buy what you want on one level, then go out of the store, go to a lift in the store next door or in the shopping centre (which are located down the other end of the centre) then go back into the store on the other floor and purchase what you want from that floor - all a bit of a faff for me!

Review of George (ASDA)
28 Apr 08, 16:38
Good
The clothes in George are great as they are what you'd find in the Asda supermarkets - but as the Asda in Corby is the only one that sells clothes, it is great to have access to the affordable clothing Asda sell
The only down side is that the children's section is upstairs, and while there is a lift it's a pain with a buggy!

Review of Lamport Swan
28 Apr 08, 16:33
Great food - fab for special occassion
We went to the Lamport Swan with the in-laws on a sunday afternoon - between the lunchtime and the evening rushes
The food was lovely, the service was good - attentive but not in your face
was more expensive than the average pub - but worth it - espececially for a special occassion
