Good NHS dentists do exist in london 
In contrast to all the tales of woe about getting a decent NHS dentist, I was able to get signed up to Blackstock quickly and easily (this was about 4 years ago, but my boyfriend signed up this year just as easily). Staff are friendly and efficient, you can get an appointment when you want and they don't try to push you into having unnecessary treatment. I've also always got to see the same person each time I've been (the wonderful Dr Oji) rather than an endless series of locums. Not that any of this makes going to the dentist fun, but the service you get makes it much more bearable and shows what the standard can and should be.
