Poor Effort 2*

This is not a Sainsbury's bashing review - I happen to think their products are better than most super markets but this branch really does have its low points.

First of all I should point out that it is the nearest super market to my flat so I seem to end up there more often than I care to think about. It started fine, though the decor is a little tired and quite run down - but then things really started going down hill. On one occasion I bought some prawns, I was in a hurry so just grabbed them off the shelf didn't even think about the sell-by-date. I got home, went to open them for a lunch I was preparing and the smell said everything -they had gone out of date two days before! Not only did they smell horrendous but on closer inspection looked a pretty grim too. These were not cheap prawns either - what were they doing on the shelf in the first place?

Second incident occurred when I decided to beat the weekend crowds of food shoppers and popped there one night after a trip to the gym. It was about 8.00pm and really quite, well quite everywhere apart from the check out. I had to wait over 35mins to pay for my shopping, which was only a few essential items! It is just so poorly organised here they have staff wondering round doing very little and only two people serving on the tills? This place baffles me and I really dislike going here for this reason - I think they could do so much more with it.

Review of The Chandos

Out the Door Before Ordering! 2*

Ok, so I did visit in a Friday night, but to be honest it wasn't that busy - it certainly wasn't busy enough to warrant the service I received.

From the moment I walked into this brightly lit odd place I thought 'mistake'. It lacked atmosphere, and due to the lack of music the drone of people squealing and shouting was just tedious.

That was not the worst bit. We approached the bar and as soon as we had done so a couple proceed to push right in front of us and get served, after the barman had us seen waiting there first! We decided to let that one go.

Now the couple have departed and it's our turn again, or so you would think? Up steps a next guy yelling to the barman it's his turn - it is quite clearly not his turn and in true Chandos fashion the barman serves the yelling man again before us, knowing full well we were first!

This could have been excused if the staff were quick, but they weren't they were just dithering around preparing lack luster drinks.

Needless to say I abruptly left after the final insult. All in all, I never even stayed for a drink.

Review of Tinseltown

Amusingly Bad! 2*

This place amuses me, I can't take it seriously and I think it is this attitude that keeps me from hating Tinseltown.

This crazy place is located in a dark basement, quite off putting at night, however at the end of the long dark stairwell there is light and a buzzing atmosphere (sometimes) I have only been twice and both times have been for desert and milkshakes - what it does best. Tinseltown is the type of establishment that gets better the later into the night you go. I have been here after a gig at 2 am and the atmosphere was much more lively as opposed to when I went at 7pm.

The much debated food is not the best, even the milkshakes. It is all average and I think the food, drinks and atmosphere is reminiscent of Brighton Pier mixed with a passing funfair.

Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed by this place. If you want tacky novelty comfort food then it ticks all the boxes.

Remember to see the funny side of it.

Review of ExCel

Great Space dissapointing Food. 2*

I recently went to a two day expo at Excel and was really amazed by the impressive space. It was really airy and accommodated the large amounts of people well.It was also quite picturesque, located in the heart of London's old docklands - overlooking the Thames. It also had some great staff that were all really helpful and friendly when providing directions etc.

However the thing that really lets this place down is the companies that they have let provide food within the conference centre. The prices were bordering on robbery and the quality was poor. Companys that I have eaten from outside of the centre were serving second rate food for double the money.

All the food was over salty and this was a really good ploy, as it subsequently meant you spent the rest of the day purchasing drinks.

Great concept and space, lovely staff but terrible food services.

Best thing about where I live It is very close to London. It also has a lot of has trams and trees!
Worst thing about where I live It's not London and sometimes it's scary. It also has the most boring hight street ever known to man.
