Review of Millennium Hotel

Big disappointment
Have just spent two nights here at a conference. VERY disappointed for many reasons:
No internet access in my room. Apparently wireless doesn't reach the fourth floor. I could have paid £35 to upgrade to a 'club room' and then pay £20 per 24 hours to go online. I declined and went to Starbucks instead.
Very shabby decor. Including peeling wallpaper along with dated carpet and furnishings.
Room very hot, and unable to open the window because it looked out onto the square and was very noisy. Extra noise because my room was right at the top of the stairs and outside the lifts.
Breakfast horrid. No one appeared to seat me, so I helped myself to a table and some breakfast from the hot buffet which was below average. I would have liked to have had something off the menu instead, especially since I'd had to pay extra for breakfast, but no one came to offer me even a cup of tea.
Price did not reflect the standard. I could have stayed elsewhere for the same price, or elsewhere much more cheaply but I chose this hotel because it looked nice on the website and some friends were staying there too. Very overpriced for what it was.
Incidentally I was talking to someone who was in one of the 'club rooms' - she was upgraded for free for some reason - and she said that her room was horrid so she was full of pity for me in my lower class room.
The reception area is quite nice. Clean at least.
Did I mention that one of my pillows weirdly smelt of cigarettes?
Avoid!

Parking challenge
The car park is quite difficult. Do check that there's space before you drive down there.
I really like this pub, it's friendly and warm and cosy and relaxed. The food is perfectly nice although not quite gastropub standard, especially at the price, but really great place for a relaxing post work drink.

Review of Le Pristine Drycleaners

Best in the area
This is the only dry cleaners in Harrow that I really trust, having had lots of trouble with several others which are much closer to my house. I did worry when I saw the shop all empty recently but it seems that they've just moved around the corner slightly.

Reliable and tasty
Nice bread to share to start. Good cocktail menu. Food reliably good, nothing out of this world but somewhere really nice to eat after work or shopping in Oxford. Kind of place you could take your parents. Also child friendly.

Lovely riverside setting
Great pub by a beautiful river. Staff very nice and helpful, although one did spill a pint of beer over one of my fellow diners, but it was his first day and he was so mortified about it that we forgave him - and they gave us our drinks for free to apologise. Excellent choice of food at lunchtime, plus a good wine list and a helpful waiter who suggested a wine that I might like. We sat outside even though it wasn't very warm because it was so lovely out on their terrace by the river, the restaurant inside was too busy for us to find space without having booked and the tables in the bar area were too low/ small.
