Review of Debenhams

rundown...
This store is slightly rundown and looks very tired. It is a land mark in the town and really needs some rejuvenation. It sells lots of major brands and is always well stocked. The staff are not always that friendly especially in the cosmetics section. It does have a great shoes section and is the only place to stock faith in Canterbury.

Review of Miss Selfridge

dissapointing...
This shop is nothing special. To me it always seems dark and cramped. There is too much stock in one space. Generally, I think Miss Selfridge has gone down hill and could do with a boost as it does have some good pieces but just isnt well presented. The staff can usually be found talking to eachother, the changing rooms are often messy. Not a great shopping experience...

Review of NatWest

expect to wait...
Everytime I go to this Natwest there seems to be a huge queue. In some cases this is down to it being busy but more often than not its due to a lack of staff serving. Its so frustrating when you see staff wondering behind the cashier looking as if they ve got something more important to do when they could be serving customers. Or what seems to happen here is that they start serving and then get up and wonder off for 5 minutes

Review of Gap

wheres the stock?
I really like Gap clothing, but I always leave feeling a bit dissapointed when visiting this particular branch. They never seem to have much stock, and the same stuff for ages. I dont know if this is because eveyone buys it all really quickly or what. For the only Gap in the south west I would have expected a bit more. The staff are friendly and the service is good. I just wish there were more clothes in such a big store

Review of Nasons
11 Nov 07, 14:01
outdated...
Nasons of Canterbury is a very outdated department store. Its interior and layout has never changed in the 21 years I have lived in canterbury. It is quite small and has kitchenware, homeware, furniture, china and some fashion. One of the better things about Nasons is probably its toy department. It has alot more to offer. It is a shame that this place has not changed with the times, though it must be doing something right to still be open.

Review of Water Sky
11 Nov 07, 10:58
Too close for comfort...
Garishly decorated chinese/japanese restaurant situated near Gloucester Road in Bristol offers a gigantic dining room however guests are often placed too close to each other creating a claustrophobic atmosphere when the restaurant is rather empty. There is a huge range of food which is very expensive. The service is over-attentive to point of the customer feeling very uncomfortable and pried upon. Recently opened and is not very busy, even on weekends.

Review of Simply Italian

Average Italian...
One of a chain of restaurants expanding their list of premises in Sussex. Authentic italian staff serve average Italian food. The service is passable, somewhat lacking in the provision of tradition Italian condiments such as parmesan cheese. One can have just a coffee in their drinks area where the service is slightly better. The prices have recently gone up due to an overhaul of the restaurants' interiors however this money could have been better spent on well trained staff. Sometimes very quiet during the day, the evenings and weekends see the most customers visiting.

Review of Gap

discount??? i think not...
This is supposed to be a Gap outlet and therefore have discounted stock. Back in the day this was the case and you could get items that had just left the full price stores for real cheap. However Gap have appeared to have cottoned on to making money in the outlet environment. Stock is now highly priced and it only seems to have items that I have never seen in the store as they are really boring and non descript. They also stock bannnaa republic but its nothing to write home about. If you re lucky you might find something, but you will need to know what things are selling for in Gap originally. Personally, Id say wait for the Gap sales in-store as the prices go down real low and there is better stock to choose from

Review of La Fourchette Brasserie

strange system, bad service...
This place looks nice on the outside and looks all cute and french but all is not what it seems when you walk in. A friend and I went and were confused by the way in which this cafe operated. As soon as we walked in (and I mean as soon as we walked in) we were asked what we wanted to drink and eat. We hadn't even had time to look at what they served, so taken aback we made a quick decision and sat down. Usually you get to take a seat and peruse the menu before making your order but not here, maybe I could understand this if they were busy but they were not. They were so quiet that in fact they forgot to even make our drinks and instead chatted amongst themselves. On finishing the pastries that we were so quickly made to order, we decided that we no longer wanted our drinks so asked for a refund and left. I do have to say that they did not kick up a fuss about giving us our money back and apologised about forgetting our order. The decor of the place is nice and has a sweet parisian feel. It just a shame that the service was poor, im hoping that this was just a one off....

Review of Ganges Restaurant

friendly staff, ok food
Gandi's is a goodish takeaway. They are quick with orders and the staff are always very friendly whilst you wait. The prices are what you would expect, if not a bit more. The food is tasty but my only gripe is that they seem to put huge slices of lemon in most dishes. I'm not sure whether this is to add to taste or to simpy bulk up the dishes to make them look bigger. It can get a bit annoying after picking out about the third piece from the same curry. I think there are probably better curry houses in Exeter than here

Review of Amber Rooms
23 Oct 07, 20:55
dissapointing...
When you first walk into the Amber Rooms is looks pretty impressive. The decor is cool and modern, with lots of room. However, the service I experienced was a bit poor. I waited ages for a cocktail as there was only one person on the bar and then when I got it it didnt taste half as good as the many other equivalents I have tried. Not only this but they were much more expensive costing about £7. There is a dance area upstairs but I didnt stick around to see whats its like. If you're looking for a decent cocktail and even nicer surroundings I suggest you make your way to Starz

not a good night out...
I've only been here once and that was enough. There was one person on the bar all night, so the service was really bad. Just generally I didn't like the vibe there and to be honest there were quite a lot of pikeys. I don't know if I just picked a bad night to go, but I'd say its the worst place I've been out in Exeter. I'd be interested to know what other people feel about it....??

Review of Rokit

over-priced vintage
If you like vintage then you will like looking round this shop, however you might well stop and think "why I am paying such high prices"? There is definetly an extensive range of all styles of vintage clothing, but £15 for a belt seems a bit much. This store is in the centre of Covent Garden so can probably get away with charging above the odds, especially with vintage being so in vogue.
I'd definetly go here for some inspiration as the way the store is laid out is cool and always looks good, but it may well be worth seeing if you can find something similar in your local charity shop for a whole lot less money. I do see things I like but I cant bare to part with my hard earned cash when I know there are cheaper alternatives out there.
