Review of The Duke of Cumberland

Perfect Whitstable Pub
The Duke is nestled in the older, quainter part of Whitstable and has bags of character. You can’t miss it this pub, being one of the largest in Whitstable, but don’t be put off, inside is anything but a big, drafty open bar. It is decked out in traditional pub decor, with a refreshing modern update.
Inside is dotted with comfy vintage rustic leather chairs and sofas, perfect for sinking into and relaxing your evening away amongst friends. The most welcoming part of the pub is the huge open fire that roars during the winter months, keeping you warm and cosy! The bar is well stocked with tasty local beers and many better known international beers; the range of bar snacks available is also pretty impressive.
It has a dramatic dining room out the back that boasts a huge Victorian sky light that floods light and sunshine in during summer. All the food served is seasonal and the menu changes weekly. The food is sourced as locally as possible making it really fresh, this really stands the Duke apart from other pubs and eateries in Whitstable.
This place has a great atmosphere that keeps you coming back time and time again weather you are visiting, or a local in the area. The staff are all friendly, inviting and very discreet when you want them to be. I love this place for its great atmosphere and the fact that you feel part of the furniture within about 10mins of being there and warming up next to the open fire. This place is a real must for locals and tourists alike.

Review of Oxfam

fair trade...
This is quite a good branch of Oxfam. It has both new and old stock. It sells a good range of Fair Trade products too. There isnt a huge amount in here sometimes, so its worth keep checking back to see if they've got some new things out. I can usually find a cool vintage bag for less than £3 though.

Review of Force Charity Shop

impressive charity shop...
This charity shop on Heavitree high street is really big. There are lots of little rooms running off one another. There is lots of womenswear and a large area of homeware. They also have a room full of proper furniture, so if you re looking for something on the cheap this is a good place to look. You could spend ages in here having a good look through everything. I always end up with some great little finds. The counter always has some nice costume jewellery. This charity shop is also good because it hasnt inflated its prices like many others

Review of Buttercup

felicity wishes heaven...
This shop stocks a huge amount of Felicity Wishes merchandise. For those of you who don't know what this is it is a young girls animation that embodies all that is pink and sparkly. Here they have cards, toys, books and much more. They also sell some really nice ceramics, which I have to say are a bit random amongst all the Felicity Wishes products. It is a lovely little shop none the less...

Review of Chromos Art Supplies

Affordable art supplies...
This is a bit more affordable than Cross's at the other end of town. It is a bit hidden away on one of the street off the high street but its worth finding. This place has all that you need for art and crafting. The staff are really friendly and helpful

Review of T K Max

A good branch...
This is quite a good branch of TK maxx because its never crazy busy and its quite tidy. They have some good labels at this branch such as fred perry, diesel, marc jacobs, c by chloe and ollie&nic. You just have to be willing to search. There is more womens wear than mens and a good selection of shoes for both sexes. The homeware section is nice too. You can be sure to find a bargain!

Review of Choices Video

Good rental shop...
This is the Heavitree branch of Choices, it is quite a lot smaller than the one by the River Exe. It still has a good choice of film with all the latest realeases. It has video games to rent as well. There are also plenty of snacks to see you through your film too. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a lisitng of when films are being released to DVD which is pretty useful

a good charity shop...
This shops is crammed with lovely bargains, you often get some great value labelled clothes here. You have to rummage even though the shop is well organised it is still quite hard to shop as so much is packed into a small space. Lovely staff, always really friendly if you spend over £10, which I always do you can pay on card. They also sell some nice new things.

Review of Sense

good charity shop...
This charity shop is one of the better quality ones in Whitstable. It is situated in a very large shop and holds furniture. Most of the good stock is sold fairly quickly so you have to be fast if you want something. They have good selection of all stock and have good window displays. Staff and friendly and helpful and you can always grab a bargain.

Review of Cross's

Art supplies...
Here they sell all that a budding artist needs. Loads of paints in all different varities, from poster to oil. They sell lots of paper, art books, brushes, pens. You name it they ve got it. They also do a photocopying service here too. Staff are helpful and know their stuff. Prices are quite high, but then art materials generally are. A good shop.
