Review of Vintage Living

vintage living... 3*

This is a pretty little shop at the top of Totnes. It stocks beautiful vintage style home ware. Many of the pieces look as if they have been taken from a french country home. The shop carries a wide selection of item varying from chairs to candles and other nic nacs. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. The prices are quite high but they do fit in with what is being sold and the Totnes area. This is a lovely presented shop and is worth perusing

Cards galore... 3*

This is a retailer of handmade and unusual papers for art, craft, decorative and display uses; personal stationery, greetings cards and giftwrap; recycled paper, card and envelopes. There is also a wide range for making your own cards. They also sell handmade photograph albums and journals. What I like most about this shop is that it has some beautiful cards and unusual wrapping paper. It is a nice place to go to get some bits ans pieces for an up-coming birthday. The staff are also very friendly; a nice little shop

Review of Lawsons Of Totnes

kitchenware emporium... 3*

Lawson's are the leading independent retailers of kitchenware and ironmongery in the south west of England. They also supply tools, linens, in fact all you need to make your home beautiful. They sell top of the range kitchenware, such as professional kitchen knifes right down to your average cookie cutters. Prices vary depending on the type of product you are buying, this shop is not extortionate. So if you need something for the kitchen this is the best place to look

Review of Cranch's Sweet Shop

06 Nov 07, 20:16

sweetie heaven... 4*

This is an old fashioned sweet shop stacked to the brim with sweets you havent seen for years, such as (for my genertaion) kola kubes and sherbert pips. There are also sweets that older generations will re-call. There is a wide selection of fine chocolates including luise handmade and lidt! Plus plenty of fudge, biscuits, sticks of rock and well all sorts of yummy sweet things. There is so much to choose from you'll spend a good time picking. This branch of Cranchs gets quite busy as it is quite a small shop in size, plus all the children come here to stock up. It's hard not to walk down the high street without seeing most children carrying the distinctive pink and white paper bags. This is such a quaint shop and it is also a family run bussiness which is another good reason to buy your confectionary from here.

Review of La Fourchette Brasserie

strange system, bad service... 2*

This place looks nice on the outside and looks all cute and french but all is not what it seems when you walk in. A friend and I went and were confused by the way in which this cafe operated. As soon as we walked in (and I mean as soon as we walked in) we were asked what we wanted to drink and eat. We hadn't even had time to look at what they served, so taken aback we made a quick decision and sat down. Usually you get to take a seat and peruse the menu before making your order but not here, maybe I could understand this if they were busy but they were not. They were so quiet that in fact they forgot to even make our drinks and instead chatted amongst themselves. On finishing the pastries that we were so quickly made to order, we decided that we no longer wanted our drinks so asked for a refund and left. I do have to say that they did not kick up a fuss about giving us our money back and apologised about forgetting our order. The decor of the place is nice and has a sweet parisian feel. It just a shame that the service was poor, im hoping that this was just a one off....

lovelyness in shop form 4*

This is maybe the most beautiful shop I have ever been in, its just so pretty and perfect. If you love shabby chic this is the shop for you. It sells a wide range of Cath Kidston goods, including kitchenware. Perhaps more importantly, is that it is one of the few stockists of Greengate in the U.K. They carry a good selection from crockery to bedspreads. As well as this they sell beautiful cards, wrapping papers. mugs and childrens wear. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I always end up spending too much money here as its just so lovely. It is one of the few shops in the area that sell such good things. I often come to Totnes just to go here and it is a excellent place to look for presents for people. A real must if you re in the area, i always leave feeling inspired...
