Review of Chubby Panda

MMMM Chubby... 4*

I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet but their takeaways are pretty good, if a little on the hot and spicy side! Reasonably priced and the best chinese in Walsham in my opinion!

Review of Lucky Star

Really Nice 4*

Went here with my BF and his parents. It was 6pm on a Sunday and the first thing i noticed was how busy it soon became. Food is well priced and tasty. The waiting staff are efficient and polite. Would visit again.

Review of 1812

Nice but pricey! 3*

We went here to meet with a friend. Cocktails were extremely pricey about £7 each, and we waited a good 15minutes to be served, as the place was packed, and the waiters faff around chucking bottles about rather than just making the drinks! Nice, but we didn't stay long as it was too claustrophobic and busy!

Review of Jumpin Jaks

Cheap Chav fest 3*

Good Grief. I drunkenly stumbled upon this 'barn' whilst on a trip to the 'muff. My boyfriend assured me it would be 'cheesy'. It was horrific, yet strangely entertaining. It was a "School Disco" event, hence many women (who were old enough to know better) wheeling round in short skirts and school ties. To accompany them were a selection of pre pubescent chav lads, many of them dressed in stripy jumpers and Burberry. They were swilling on either "4for£10" bottles of VK (Vodka Kick) that I had forgotten existed since I left student life. Or two bottles of "Bubbly" for £10. I say the word Bubby extremely lightly, as sparkling Perry to me, does not deserve such a title. Oh the irony. It was very surreal watching them drinking whole bottles either through a straw (classy ladies), or swigging out of the bottle (boy chavs).

The "Cheesy" music started off ok (Alphabeat's Fascination) but quickly deteriorated, and by 2.45am it was "Smack My Bitch Up" by the Prodigy, when all we really wanted was a rousing chorus of Chesney Hawkes' "The one and Only". Don't get me wrong, we fully embraced the experience (albeit not in fancy dress). We got particulary drunk and then just had a giggle before staggering off to find a chip shop at 3am. Brilliant.

Review of Pizza Hut

Like queueing? 2*

This Pizza Hut was i believe, the first one in the city and indeed it was where i first experienced that all you can eat pizza buffet (which is great fun!) However, during school holidays or busy times around lunchtimes there always seems to be a real queue going on, with people winding their way round the corner and waiting for a while before being seated. For some it proves that this is a really popular eatery, but i never bother queueing myself usually. Saying that, the one time i did it wasn't a long wait- i guess it depends on the size of your party? Great food, but is it always worth the wait?

Review of Borders Books

My idea of Heaven! 4*

I absolutely adore this shop, far more than i do any clothes shop, and that's saying a lot. I do lose a hefty chunk of my month's wages here, but I love it. They have an amazing array of book, magazines and even cds and dvds, and a really huuuuge magazine selection. Plus there's the Costa coffee shop, so you can go in with your purchase and get lost with a hot chocolate and a good book for a good while (although i usually go in at lunchtimes so don't have the opportunity!) Really lovely store on two levels, well set out and nice and spacious too. Staff are always very helpful as well.

Review of Lush

25 Apr 08, 09:31

paradise 5*

I used to have to go all the way to London or Bluwater to get my Lush fix, but when the shop opened in Norwich i was sooo thrilled... you can literally smell the shop before you see it, it's a gorgeous smell and it's truly heavenly inside. Saying that, men usually don't like it- must be a girl thing! Fellas, if you want a present for a female loved one, you can't go wrong here. Staff are happy to advise, and they do a brilliant range of gift boxes. Everything is natural, and theie fresh face masks are lovely. Some things can smell a bit.. odd... sometimes- i remember buying a moisturiser called Skin drink some years ago that whiffed of peanut butter... not my cup of tea, but i think that was the natural sesame seed oil! Was great for my skin though! Seriously, treat yourself with a trip to Lush, even if it's just to have a smell of all the delicious bath and body treats. I love it!

Review of Willow Veterinary Clinic

Really friendly vets 3*

Now i'm not going to give this vets a 5* review as i'm sure my cat wouldn't thank you for it... but even though she hates the vets they are always very gentle with her, especially the lovely nurses who do her claws for me every few months! One time a vet did tell us she was vicious (a comment i laughed my socks off at) but that was only as she had been put into recovery with a big dog in the same room (very scary i imagine!) Now i have moned away from hellesdon, but still take my cat there as they always find time to fit you in for an appointment and the majority of the vets are lovely.

Review of Chung Hing

18 Apr 08, 11:58

Great food 5*

I really love Chung Hing. It's a family run business and the shop is always spotless. In fact you can even see through to the kitchen to watch the food being prepared. One of the best chinese takeaways in the Hellesdon area.

Review of Trattoria Rustica

18 Apr 08, 11:49

My all time favourite! 4*

I really love Trattoria Rustica. They do such a wide range of amazing food, and it's one of those places that you can go for good food, good wine, and good company, and happily spend all evening there. They always have such beautiful pictures painted on the wall of beach scenes and pretty harbours etc, it's almost like you were abroad on holiday at times. They do mainly Italian food, but their specials are usually just that, so ask the advice of your waiter if you don't know what to have. Stairs to the loos can be tricky after a few drinks so be careful, but apart from that there isn't much i could fault... apart from the fact that it is essential to book as they're always pretty booked up.
