love it
Like a big jumble sale! This used to be an airfield hanger so that gives you some idea of how big this place is. It stuffed with stock and has a great cafe. Well worth a trip to have a look around, but dont go there with a shopping list, go there thinking " I wonder what I'll find here today"

kids welcome
was staying over night in Datchet with my 11 year old. He decided on where to eat and chose this place. Inside its a "traditional" Itallian Restaurant. The guy who served us treated my lad like a grown up whic made his night. The food was amazing, the staff wer first class. If u only have one meal in Datchett, make this the one.

welcome
visited Datchett last summer on the way to Windsor. Lovely pub this, a real local feel to it and being "out siders" we were made to feel really at home by the friendly staff. Great village, great pub too.

Review of Bickington General Stores & Post Office

great post office
this shop is the hub of this village community. A great place for those "bits" you forgot to get from Tesco. A bit over priced and a bit basic, but its here for the locals and is survivng. The post office is essential and apart from Car Tax and Passport Forms, they do everything the main post office in Bple does. Long live the village shop.

Review of Museum Of Barnstaple & North Devon

i agree
I agree with the reviews of this place already on here. about it being mainly Natural History.
However, there IS a great section on Branhams Pottery, a complete history of this once thriving business and you can find out all about Sir Rock , a wealthy business man who pumped much needed cash into the town.
You also need to keep an eye on the museums programme of events. Theres a constantly changing programme which adds extra "spice" to this great little museum.

Review of St John's Nurseries North Devon
14 May 08, 23:07
the biggest and best
a huge selection of every day plants. an even bigger selection of unusual and out of the ordinary plantsTheres also shrubs. fruit trees, bushes, a huge rose bush section, seasonal plants (even christmas trees at christmas).
Mainly plants trees and shrubs, but also all the usual stuff gardeners need.
No matter what type of garden you have, rolling lawns, a postage stamp or even troublesome up hill gardening, St Johns will be able to help and advise.

Review of North Devon Farm Park

AVOID
what a dreadful place this is. I threaten to take the kids back here if they are naughty!
If this place is still trading, its time health and safety paid a visit.
The out door play equipment was covered in green slime and in need of repair. The in door play area comprised of a barn with random bits of carpet on the floor, a bouncy castle and a ball pool - god knows what might be lurking in there!
I must admit, its about 5 years since we visited, but vowed never to go there again.

Just beautiful
A leasurely stroll around the gardens will take away the stress of todays hectic life style. beautiful rolling lawns, acres of beautifully tended gardens, a myriad of beautiful flowers. Then, when calm and relaxed, take a look around this stately home and be transported back to a time when all houses had servents and the master of the house was truely, the master of the house. a real gem

Review of Crealy Great Adventure Park
14 May 08, 22:42
Really ??
My kids use Crealy as an example of a bad day out. They were totally bored. we went pre easter and thank goodness the day was a sunny one. The petting zoo was a whole load of everyday farm animals, The ball park looked like it hadnt been cleaned since last season. The cafe was basic and expensive. There wsnt a single thing the kids ( 4 and 7 yrs) enjoyed. We were all bemused at the play area that was half size concrete buildings the kids could go into - sort of half built with nothing in them - well Im guessing it WAS a play area?? If i need to keep the kids in line, I threaten to take then back to Crealy - they soon fall in line.

Review of Longleat Safari Park
14 May 08, 22:27
The original and best
Longleat was the UKs first safari park and its still the best. Its not a zoo, its a wild life park. the animals roam "wild" while you drive through their enclosures. The monkeys ar such fun and climb over your car as you pass through - so make sure everything on your car is secured. I lost a windscreen wiper AND a metal trim from my car roof - lol. Animals include elephants, rinos, giraffes, yak, buffalo, flamingos, butterflies. No matter where u are in the UK plan a trip to Longleat and you will have an amazing time.
