Review of The Brunel Hotel

Cheap as Chips 4*

Stayed at this hotel last weekend. Takes 5 minutes to walk from Paddington station to this hotel ... walk down Praid Street and its on or right. Cheap hotel so didnt expect much. We had a basement room, very small, small bathroom but at £50 a night was all we needed. Very basic. clean, great staff. Did continental breakfast £5 all u can eat! NOT a family hotel.

Review of Homebase

24 Apr 08, 13:12

in 2 minds 3*

I never know what to think about Homebase. Their 10% days seem good, but seeing as they are more expensive than all the other DIY shops, then are they any cheaper with the discount? I was put off this place when I priced up an inflatable Santa at christmas and in the pre- christmas sale, they had inflated the price to "reduce" it back down to the original price 2 weeks before.

Review of Birthday Boy

Use it or lose it 4*

Where else can you get a set of ceramic boobs or a backwards clock or a King Arthur Chess set? The shop for the man who has everything. stuck for a present for him, go here first and your job's done. Prices range from a fiver to a couple of hundred quid. I have my eye on one of those glass barometers with the coloured balls .. well my birthdays on the way.

Review of Robert Miller

24 Apr 08, 13:03

As Kylie said 3*

... step back in time. This is a real Gentlemans shop. The phrase "suits you sir" springs to mind. Sensible shirts, sensible suits and sensible Y front pants. Like a scene out of "are you being served" you expect Mrs Slocombe to appear from being the huge glass counter and tell us about her "pussy". All that said, Its actually really nice to see this sort of traditional shop in town - my dad love it.

Not in Green Lanes now 4*

This has now moved to the High Street. There was a time when Burtons was an old mans shop, these days everyone shops there! Great ranges, great sizes and reasonable prices. i guess if u know Burtons, you know what to expect

Review of Officers Club

Watch the sizes 2*

I am always drawn into this shop by the offers in the window. the only problem i have with this shop is the sizes. The largest size they do in clothes is XL, which in all other shops is ample for me. Unfortunately their XL is like L in other high street shops. I have many items at home that are just too small to wear .. I guess thats where ebay comes in. lol Great styles, great value discount clothes, but watch the sizes

Review of Beach Buoys

24 Apr 08, 12:41

tacky tacky tacky 5*

A traditional beach shop ! woo hoo, so what do you want ? an inflatable banana? Inflatable crocodile? A hammer may be? An emprium of inflatables. Before you get to the beach pop in for something to keep the kids (and the growdy - ups) entertained. Balls, kites, inflatables, cricket sets. love it

Review of Woolacombe Bay Holiday Village Shop

24 Apr 08, 12:37

I love theis place 3*

We have stayed here a few times now and its great for the whole family. The shop how ever is a bit pricey, so we have learned to take our own grocieries with us when we stay. Its a shame they can not compete with the supermarkets.

Review of Stardust Leisure

Oh come on!! 4*

Listen. You are at the sea side. You MUST have a go on the slot machines!! Me, I prefer spending a bag of 2ps on that machine that has the moving bar and stacks up the coins untill they all fall off .. ok a man of simple pleasures. The kids are more into the race simulators and reality ski machine! Great fun on a dull afternoon when its too cold to go to the beach ....

Review of Normies Ice Cream Shop

24 Apr 08, 12:31

How long do you have? 4*

If you stayed in woolacombe for a week and had an Ice Cream every hour ... you'd probably just about get through the flavours in this Ice Cream parlour. Every town should have a Normies! Soooo many different flavours and combinations, totally spoilt for choice. Try the Rocky Road 9 might have got that wrong) but its stuffed with mallows, biscuit, choclate and more ... hmmm
