surprised 3*

im surprised this lovely place is listed as Itallian. Last time I went ( a couple of years ago) it was a French style place, but I guess it may have changed. Ample parking for whatever it is as its right by the car park. Food was lovely, nice quiet , intimate place --- maybe thats why its changed??

always good for a chat 4*

get carols number in your mobile! You'll need it. For just a quick trip up or down the hill ... s trip into Barnstaple or Minehead ... or a trip to one of the UKs Airports, she does the lot. Carole or Ray, a family run local taxi service.

Mathew is a star 5*

Matthew Oxemham ... what a star. Imagine Katweasle in charge of a fishing boat. Mathew is as mad as a hatter and will give you the best boating experience you will ever have. If you want to see the North Devon coastline form the sea side, head for Lynmouth Harbour and make a b line for Matt!

this IS the place to go 4*

I agree with Sarah S totally. this is what a craft shop should be. locally made, lots "crafty" stuff to so you can make it yourself. OK so some of the stuff is a little over priced, but when you have something unique and of quality, I really dont care. Rather give my dad a handmade card than one from the card shop any day.

Review of Maria Floyd

good and reliable 3*

Maria is well known in this area. reliable and pays great attention to detail - which is exactly what you want from an accountant. She would be my forst choice for everything financial. Highly recommend her, and have done to several friends.

mark has been here years 3*

Mark was my builder when I lived in Lynton many many years ago. Always keen to get the job, not always keen to turn up on time or get the job done on time. Well village life IS different to the rest of the world. LOL. Would highly recommend the guy tho .

Review of Bishop

what a gem! 4*

Found this place by accident and loved it. Basically a picture gallery with a huge range of local prints and originals. When I was there there were local oils, sketches and pastels. Unfortunately, being on a day trip, I hadnt come prepared to purchase a very nice local scene in oils. The man very kindly let me leave a deposit and I was able to collect my purchase later on in the week. Highly recommended.

Dont Drive 5*

The best way to visit this place is by NOT driving to it. Start off in Lyndale carpark and the walk up the river to the cafe. You'll need sustinance by the time you've reached the cafe. Its a glorious walk on a sunny day, but it a long walk. Luckily not too strenuous. Its ur typical National trust shop. food over priced but nice. Shop full of National Trust curios.

Review of Carver Doone Hand Crafted Goods

24 Apr 08, 10:17

where in the world? 3*

Dont be fooled into thinking that anything in this shop is local ... Beautiful tho it is, most of the "hand carved" and "hand crafted" goods are hand carved in the Phillippines or hand crafted in Thailand. Dont get me wrong, the goods are lovely and reasonably priced BUT dont let the misleading signs make you think theres anything remotely local about this shop!

more walking gear 4*

a real mix of stuff in here. it needs to either be a surf shop - although im not sure how much surfing goes on in Lynmouth - or a walkers shop. full of walking stuff like boots and wet weather gear - something we needed on our very rainy trip to Devon

Review of Countisbury Collections

Old fashioned 4*

Not the sort of place my teenage girl would ever shop in. Think tweed, blouses and dapper hats! My wife loves it in here as its full of stuff that our parents love - ideal for birthdays and christmas. Definately a shop for the more discerning shopper.

Review of Hardings Leather & Sheepskin Shop

This is fab! 5*

WOW such a small shop but boy do they cram it all in! Whata massive selection of goods, A whole wall of gents leather jackets, another wall of ladies jackets. It really is an Aladdins cave. Theres stuff everywhere. All over the walls, hanging from the ceilings. My wife had a beautiful handbag. You really dont get this sort of shop anywhere else. A must.

Review of Lynmouth Clothing Co

a walkers shop 4*

this place needs to make its mind up .. does it sell walking gear or philippino hand carved wood. Both are good, but easy to get distracted by the other. Very helpful staff, the jumper I wanted wasnt in stock so they ordered it for me - thanks guys. Boots, coats, body walmers, walking sticks socks etc etc AND a hand carved Indian!!

another fudge shop 1*

how many sweet shops does lynmouth need. Although this is the first one in the street, its not the best. The surfers behind the counter couldnt care less if you buy or not. The fudge is the same mass produced stuff you can get at any motorway service station. I wasnt impressed.

Review of Rockford Inn

Its not in Lynton! 5*

A bit mis leading labelling this as Lynton or Lynmouth . its actually in Rockford, which is about 6 miles away. Search it ourt and you'll be in for a real treat. A cozy pub, intimate with real ales and great "pub grub". Parking can be a nightmare if its busy. Have live music ( well Fred and his singing dog) some weekends.

PUB !! 4*

a real pub!! huge bar and very well stocked too! Really cozy and friendly. A Blazing log fire in the winter, roomy and airy in the summer. Nothing better than a group of friends gathering for a brew and a bite. Excellent food, beer and service.

Wonderful 4*

I go to this place whenever Im in Lynmouth. Its a locely place, friendly staff and gorgeous food. Its all locall sourced and freshly cooked .. sometimes a wait when busy, but at least the food is fresh and you can have a drink while youre waiting! Right next to the car park so theres plenty of parking

Review of Corner House

AVOID 1*

this place hasnt changes since the 70s. it looks like one of those old fashioned caffeterias, all plastic, silver wobbly tables. A bit like queueing up at the school canteen. Basic food, basic drink, nothing special. Lynmouth deserves better.

Review of Lorna Doone

An absolute MUST 5*

Actually NOT 17 but 11 Lynmouth street. The Candy Shoppe has been there for years and really know their stuff. Its the only place to buy locally made fudge, candies and sweets. DONT buy fudge anywhere else until youve visited this place.

Review of Holiday Shop

What happened?? 2*

Last time I visited this place is was an emorium of imported wood stuff, tables, chairs, patio sets, huge wood carvings etc etc. Sadly these days its just beachside junk - coconut birdfeeders and tacky beach mats. I guess they're catering for the masses these days.

Review of Caravel Gift Shops

Not Just Fudge 4*

A shop that spreads over two shops in Lynmouth street. One side is all fudge, rock, sweets , cream, cider and biscuits. The other side is a mix of nice quality gifts and seaside tat. Im not sure the two really mix, but the place has been there for years and still owned by the same family so i guess theyre doin summat right.
