Review of Room
11 May 08, 22:30
old fashioned
I find it hard to believe people still buy clumpy dark wood furniture. Sort of stuff you find in old stately homes, big chunky, cumbersome. Beds. Chest of drawers, cabinets, cd racks, all big, all chunky. Indian if im not mistaken. I guess they survive because of the nick nacks they sell, vases candles room fresheners etc. Im sure the wood stock has been there since it opened 7 years ago. that, or they bought a lot of the same stock

Review of Virgin X S
11 May 08, 22:26
used to be Virgin
now called Z a v v i (what?) . Current chart stuff on DVD and Cd - same price as you'd get in Woolworths but actually cheaper to go to Sainsbury. BUT the saving grace is the over stocks and discontinued ranges of CDs and DVDs - really cheap but u gotta be quick. NOT go in there with a shopping list ... go in there witha full wallet and see what gems you can find!

Review of Cadbury Shop
11 May 08, 22:22
not really discount
set in the discount retail out let Atlantic Village, im surprised no one has pulled them up for NOT being discounted. Same prices in here as in normal shops although you can get some non high street goodies like the mis shapes bags. Avoid the bags of fruit allsorts, they are disgusting.

Review of Claire's Accessories UK
11 May 08, 22:19
Always popular
my daughter loves this place. its actually cheaper in here than in Claires in the high street shop in Barnstaple. Discounts on every item, but u do need to check the signs for the discounted price. Got daughters ears pierced here, which was surprise for her - I got them done for her when she wasnt looking. Always great for friends birthday prezzies and always good for comedy occasion stuff (valentines, hen nights, st paddys day, christmas, halloween etc)

Review of Cotton Traders
11 May 08, 22:14
serve me please
Great selection of clothing , more up market than most of the clothes shops which is good if u want a good quality t or polo shirt. I just wish the staff would get their act together tho. The art of multi tasking has escaped the staff completely. one customer 2 staff ... even if someone is waiting to be served.

Review of Ice Blue

wont last long
sorry but its too expensive for kids clothes. parents dont want to spend £10 on a jumper for a kid who's gonna wear it half a dozen times. OK to find something special for a wedding maybe, but too pricey to make it a shop mr average visits regularly - and thats what you need if ur gonna survive the curse of Atlantic Village

Review of Paper Mill Shop
11 May 08, 22:07
make yer own
my kids have gotten the card making bug. its hard to walk past this shop without the kids "needing" something. They do those things you stick on the front of cards. Also coloured paper, fancy pens and rubber stamps. I love the fact u buy paper and card by the size of box you choose, brilliant idea so you getto pick exactly what you want.

All you could need
Quality shop for the out door types! I needed to get my daughter some warm weather gear to brave the New York winter last year. We found everything we needed. Insulated gloves and hats for the both of us. Hell we could have spent thousands in there as the slection is huge. From tents to coats from long johns to walking sticks. all here , great little shop

Review of Suits You
11 May 08, 21:32
gone ...another one
did they not see that naming a shop after the catch phrase of a couple of seedy characters in a comedy show would fail? Who wants to pay high prices for a nice suit that comes from a shop that conjours up visions of seedy gay shop assistants measuring ur inside leg and touching your tackle ... doomed from day one!

Review of Nicklebys

Another failed business
Shame about this, it was the only decent shop for men at this ailing shopping centre. So many shops last 6 months or less, surely its time to have some big names at AV??

Review of Edinburgh Woollen Mill
11 May 08, 21:26
not ur average EWM
what IS this shop ??? Ed Wool Mill used to be for old ladies who wore tweed 3 piece suits. this branch swings from incredibly trendy, to dire as far as its clothe sare concerned. This is the "endof line" version of EWM so its always stacked with sale items and always of good quailty. It also does kids clothes in this one, which is good as there is no kids clothes shop in Atlantic Village. They also do a sweet and biscuit (scottish biscuits??) and local wine and spirts section.

Review of Jacques Vert

old ladies shop
- no disrespect at all, but this place is a favourite with my mum. So aimed at the more refinded lady, this shop has a real niche market. Older style clothes. Quality clothes. Pleasantly expensive is how my mum described it.

Review of Designer Room
11 May 08, 21:17
big surprise
this is a nice sized shop. not over stocked , so easy to look around the rails. Its stock is mainly end of ranges. but you will find Big Designer names at cut prices. CK, Fila, Tommy H all here for men, but tend to be randon sizes so ur lucky if u can find something to fit. Its mainly designer ladies so plenty for the girlies. There is also a really well stocked perfume and fragrance counter, Again, all designer, CK, JPG, Beckham etc etc etc. all cheaper than the high street.

Review of Atlantis Recreation Play Area
11 May 08, 21:10
warning to parents
Unless its changed dranatically in the last year, I would like to take issue with the last review. " parents can drop ... shop in peace". No you cant as everything has to be paid for and when we went there was no staff there except to collect the money. Gold panning, Gold, maze all have to be paid for. that only leaves the pirate ship play area which is now looking tired and un cared for. As for the body bouncers, this is just another way to get parents to shell out more cash. avoid.

Review of Presto Retail
11 May 08, 20:57
Suse has too much money!
This is the most over rated chain of pasty shops ever. Its over priced and total bad value for money. No matter what its stuffed with £3.75 is scandelous for a damn pasty - how can anyone justify charging that. £3 for a hot chocolate is a joke - its NEVER hot, tepid at best. The staff are kids who dont care at the best of times. A total rip off .. but at Atlantic village you;'re trapped, there's no where else to grab a snack.

Review of Banana Bookshop
30 Apr 08, 12:47
springing up -ooh
Banana books seem to be springing up all over the place. Stocked with the sort of books no one reads. Random biographies and books about crafts you never heard of. Its all end of range but cheap, so good to get presents for people you dont really know, or like. This branch at Atlantic Village also sells no one wants CDs and cheap wrapping paper and cheap cards.
