Review of The House Toys

is it still trading? 4*

Im not 100% sure if its still trading or not.

Last time i was there I was chatting to the old guy behind the counter and he said that times were hard.

He'd been there 20 odd years and felt that his style of shop was on its last legs.

This was a traditional old fashioned toy shop. Wooden cars and trucks, toy soldiers for the lads and dollies for the girlies. Games : not ur Mousetrap ot Opperation, but Jacks and skipping ropes and marbles.... fingers crossed, the old guy is still there - well the shop at least.

Review of Dunster Leather Craft

hmmm 5*

That Smell!

Its the smell that hits you first .

This place has everything you could need in small leather goods.

They do a huge selection of wallets and purses. Handbag and belts. Sheep rugs. Gloves in leather and sheepskin.

Theres also a whole load of leatehr trinkets and things you didnt know you needed.

Well worth popping in ... just to have a sniff

Review of Jacobs

hmmmm ?? 4*

it would be wrong to say this is an old ladies shop .. cos old men shop in here too.

If u need a travel blanket for ur legs or a nice woolen hat or some thing nice in tweed, this is the place.

Sorry if that sound derogatory, its not meant to be. But it IS for old people who enjoys nice woolen clothes and are prepared to spend a few bob on it.

You even get a cup o tea while youre waiting

Review of Dunster Candy Shop

very nice 3*

This is a lovely little shop where you can pop in when on holiday and get gifts to take home for every one you left behind.

Theres rock things for the kids .. theres nice packs of olde worlde biscuits for gran and grandad and some nice locally made fudge for everyone else.

They even do "big" boxes of fudge and biscuits so you can take some thing back for the staff at work.

THEN when youve done that, u can enjoy the rest of ur holiday

Review of Roly's Fudge Pantry

29 May 08, 16:43

Sugar delight 5*

Rolys have become so damn famous that there was always a risk of them losing sight of what it was that made them successful in the first place.

Luckily they havent!

You can still see the staff making the fudge on the premesis. The huge marble slab give you perfect view of the warm, nearly set fudge as its rolled out of the copper pans and neaded into shape.

Brilliant to watch and great to eat. Basic flavours but bloomin lovely

Review of Stags Head

traditional 4*

This is a traditional country pub. We were made to feel really welcome. They do food too, but you wont find anything fancy, just plain English pub grub and pleant of it too. I really liked the real ales, but what would you expect from a pub thats been around for years
