Review of Invicta Tandoori

Awful. Just awful.
The Invicta Tandoori exemplifies everything that is wrong with British Indian restaurants. From the appalling, dated decor; cramped seating; to the foul, cobwebbed toilets (up a rickety staircase that's a health & safety lawsuit waiting to happen) with only a moist towel to dry your hands on, this place is truly execrable.
All this could be forgiven if the food was up to snuff - but it isn't. The menu serves up only the typical staples, nothing in the way of 'specials' (not that there's anything special about this place) and a limited vegetarian selection. The tikka masala, the one dish you'd hope a curryhouse would do well is literally fire engine red and served with a garnish of squirty cream from a can. No chef worthy of the name would serve food like this - it's an embarassment to the nation's favourite cuisine.
The Shapla down the road is no better. Whitstable is crying out for a decent curry restaurant. You'd have to be drunk to think this place is any good.
