Nothing to do with Newcastle United but they do sell pannini sticker albums and stickers so if you are a toon army fan you can find something to satisfy you they also have the commentaries on all the matches playing on a little radio in the corner of the shop so you can hear whats going on and the latest score while you shop.

I used to love Byker Grove on the telly and this youth hostel is the perfect place for a holiday for byker fans on a budget. You may not bump into Ant and Dec - "He's blind, man!" but you will be sure of a warm welcome and some friendly dorms of fellow back packers.

Pet Heaven. Not the place your cat goes when it dies, but this pet shop - they sell loads of cute little pets like hamsters and guinea pigs and a lo of exotic birds - the noise and smell when you walk in is intense but they look really well looked after and its nice to see a traditional pet shop still in business.

This hair dressers gave me one of the best high light jobs I have ever had - they managed to trnsform my hair from mousy brown to vibrant pink within a couple of exciting hours and the end result is a real head turner! Wow.

Alice In Wonder Land would have found this place fascinating, even after she had emerged from her trippy rabbit hole sixties psychadelic adventures (I often wonder what Luis Caol was on). They sell all sorts of old weird stuff - hard to do it justice in mere words but go and check it out and you will see what I mean!

If Leonardo Da Vinci had decided to go into fast food rather than painting, inventing and drawing biological diagrams of naked men this is the kind of place his genius brain might have dreamt up - he probably would have invented kebabs as well. Nice place. Clean, hygenic and speedy service although my ham and pineapple pizza had unexplained pieces of bone in it.

They specialise in pens so whatever pen you've just mislaid, it will be easy to replace! Bagels Are The Way Forward
I recently discovered bagels quite by accident when I was served someone else's order in this coffee shop but they're really nice and I was pleased that they made this mistake. So pleased that I didnt tell them and ate my bagel in the corner of the canteen facing the wall. I shouldnt have been so worried because they were unlikely to create a 'scene'. The only issue I have with their bagels is they all seem to have a little hole in the top and sometimes the filling squirts out when you bite into it. Maybe elsewhere they can make bagels that dont have this design flaw.

Unlike Air Guitars which are imaginary this shop is definitely real. They specialise in repairing guitars and they know what they're doing so your instrument will be in safe hands! My guitar had a problem with its pickup and they fixed it within a week so I'd definitely recommend it.

Staff are professionl and were able to answer my technical queries, and I managed to find the clarinet reed I was looking for without problems. They Will Repair Your Hi Fi
As you might expect this shop specialise in fixing broken hi fi equipment and they successfully mended my CD player which had a circular leather coaster jammed in the drawer mechanism. It was as good as new after they fixed it and I will not let my curiosity get the better of me in the future.

First Clas Haircuts
I get my hair cut quite often - I really enjoy the sound of the scissors snipping away and this place made me feel right at home. I also like the Scottish accent and the combination of my hairdressers lilting Scottish voice and the snippety snip snip made me almost fall into a trance but I snapped out of it so I didnt end up Van Goghed! Great haircut at the end of it all and I cant complain about the prices which were very reasonable indeed.

Helping a Good Cause
It's important to support local charities and this shop sells a lot of things for local good causes. In fact some of the items are pretty worthless, like ZX Spectrum computer game cassettes and the free CDs you get with Sunday colour supplements, however they do price them realistically at mere pence. My idea - buy a handful of this stuff and help a good cause then discretely pop it in the bin round the corner. You'll clear their stock, help a good cause and feel good about yourself. Try and recycle what you can.

The beads may be small but so is the shop. So its unclear whether the double meaning of the name of the shop is intentional. They do however also sell slightly larger beads but the common theme is they all have the holes in them to allow them to be easily threaded onto a necklace or anywhere else you might want to put beads. Fantastic choice, and good staff.

The Royal Bank Of Scotland have some of the best mortgage rates on the market at the moment so if you are thinking of buying somewhere or just remortgaging I recommend seeing what they have on offer at the moment because it could be a very wise decision.

Feel Like A VIP
They promise the full VIP treatment here and what you get is exactly that - they can even wash your hair for you as well as dry it afterwards. And the best thing is you dont pay VIP prices- it's very reasonable and the quality is excellent too.

There are plenty of art gallery shops in Edinburgh which makes it an amazing place to come if you are an art lover or even if you're not you can still enjoy seeing the local paintings. This shop had some really nice works that I really wanted but couldnt afford. Damn it.

Nice choice
If you have visited the castle (which you really should do if you are going to Edinburgh - it's amazing) this is a great place to buy a souvenir and they have some really nice stuff actually including the usual books, keyrings etc but also pewter goblets which are rather cool.

This is one place where you will feel cultured without having to feel poor. They have really nice works of art but some of them are actually quite affordable. Well worth checking out if you are decorating your home because a nicely chosen painting can bring a room to life.

Nice Bodys
Everybody should shop here for cosmetics. Not wanting to preach but they are eco friendly and ethical as well so you know you wont be doing any harm by buying from this chain. And the products are good too. This is a nice little Body Shop outlet well stocked and nice staff.

This is a great place for a bottle of whiskey if you need to drink it there and then - you can just grab one, pay for it and then enjoy it as you walk off down the street and with these sort of prices you can almost drink it like its water! Brilliant. This was the last thing I remember about my trip to Edinburgh but what a great memory.

I have always thought that Scottish people have really nice haircuts and now you can steal their style by coming to Edinburgh for your next trim. Nice staff, good hair cut and great choice of magazines in the waiting area.

I checked out several Whiskey shops during my time in Edinburgh. This was one of the better ones with a good selection of bottles at reasonable prices and the staff were helpful and explained all about the differences to me with a lot of patience.

They do good honest sandwiches here with the usual warm Scottish welcome and nice thick slices of doorstep bread so a sandwich really fills you up. And if you're feeling brave you can munch on a haggis for your lunch!

All Kinds Of Whiskey
If you dont like Whiskey there's nothing here for you. if on the other hand you are addicted to it, then this is the place to spend your money! And you certainly can! There's some bottles in here which are so old that they are worth hundreds of pounds and also some minitatures which are a lot more affordable so you can sample all the tates of this land.

Good Cause
There are many people sleeping rough in Edinburgh so this is one shop who are definitely a really good cause and I think we should support them. So even if there's nothing in particular you are looking for, drop in and see what they have you never know you might find a bargain and it could mean a roof for the night for some poor soul.

Speedy Gonzales!
I think it was the mexican mouse who coined the phrase "Ariba Ariba!" and this place lives up to its name because the speed of service is worryingly swift - I have no idea how they manage to cook a burger in under 4 minutes but they do and god bless them! Definitely recommended if you like your meat rare.
