Review of Fort St. George

Whatever happened to the snug?
The Fort St George on Midsummer Common used to be the definitive Cambridge pub - good selection of real ales and a superb location, perfect for an outside beer overlooking Midsummer Common in the summer, with lots of cosy snugs for an intimate drink in the winter months. But it's recently had a facelift and the nooks have vanished - and it's just another chain pub with the standard decor/menu/ale selection. But, on the plus side, the location's still quintessentially Cambridge.

Review of Alexandra Arms

Friendly local near Mill Road
A stone's throw from Norfolk Street and a double-bounce stone's throw from Mill Road, the Alex is a well-established traditional local pub, with a friendly landlord, Steve and a pleasant garden for the summer months.
In terms of food, there's none of your gastropub nonsense here - just your traditional fayre, but reasonably priced.
All in all, a half-decent local that's always packed at weekends.
